Whale watching/day at the beach? - The DIS Discussion Forums

We will have one extra day on our trip and thought might kids should see the ocean/beach. Any suggestions for whale watching/beach trips? We will be staying at the Disneyland Hotel and will be going in January. Not sure about the time of year as far as whale watching?? We may rent a car just for that day. Is there a close place to DLH to rent a car for the day?

I believe a few hotels have rental cars in their lobby....I would suggest Laguna and or Huntington Beach. But you can go to their websites and google whale watching newport and it should tell you if that is a high season. Then just sit on the beach and enjoy. I believe the last time we went to Huntington beach there is even a service that will set up a umbrella and or bomb fire for you for a fee. Might as well make it a day. But Laguna I think is beautiful!!!
