You gave no reason so why?

In the Radiator Sprngs Racers attraction there is no need for the mountain other than to blcok the view of the ride building. If all you have is Willy's Butte and the Radiator Cap that would be enough.

People would scrutinize Disney for being cheap, and I really think if they add Cars Land in DHS without the mountain range that would really hurt them it's details like the mountain range that people like

Exactly, its one thing to have an attraction like Tower of Terror that's mostly equal until you get in the ride itself and notice the differences...but when you have an entire exterior that can be seen quite clearly for anyone comparing photos...its going to lead to comparisons.

It also includes a big mountain range which not only adds to the Radiator Springs theme but happens to block out Power Lines, Hotels and the convention center across the street. This wouldn't be a nessecary component of a new Cars Land.

I can only tell you what the press accounts say. The figure they're throwing around is 750 million.

Just like the FLE number is 300 million.

Since we won't get actual NUMBERS from Disney...we'll have to stick to those.

I'm pretty confidant based on the Orlando Paper saying the lady that was in charge of Cars Land moved to Orlando. Sounds too cool! Super exciting news!

Is the stigma that they are "specialists" in one particular thing - i.e. "wherever _____goes...tower if terror follows"

Try reading what I posted again and pay attention to the math and logic. 750M minus the cost of many other projects is less than 750M.

This information came out nearly a month ago. Her name is Kathy Magnum. This has already been mentioned at the start of this thread. It's purely speculation that she is going east to build another Carsland, especially when other announced projests are going on. Also to discredit this notion why did she lead the project in Anaheim but going to florida to lead all the park project leaders, instead of focusing on a second Carsland.

I read it. I have also read the press accounts that specifically say Cars Land cost 750 million. Maybe they were over budget, or costed other elements out differently. I can only tell you what I have seen published.

Absent actual data, the press accounts are a bit mote trustworthy than your math and logic.

So, short of data from disney or an updated, trustworthy press account....I still say the 750 million is the widely accepted number. If your going to use your own set of numbers...thats likely to be your disconnect in any discussions on the topic.

I am more than willing to consider different numbers from an established, trustworthy, published source if you have them.

"Cars Land", yes. But the question is whether Disney would be interested in a Cars attraction which does not necessitate building the entire town. They could still use the Test Track ride system, replicate many of the audio animatronics from RSR and yet still make it different from the DCA version.

This is purely speculative but one poster on another forum suggested they could build some sort of Cars Tokyo attraction similar to one of the Pixar shorts released between the two Cars films. Have the attraction entirely indoors to give it a night time look.

Again, completely speculative and possibly very expensive, but it's an example of an alternate approach to using those characters & ride system.

If they don't copy the entire town, yes I'm sure WDW would get flak from a lot of circles for taking a cheaper approach. But personally this is one time I would welcome it. Rather than spending hundreds-of-thousands on a carbon copy mountain range, put some of that money toward the Monster's Inc coaster and other attractions.

The full Cars Land would still be just a plane ride away.

The mountains form the environment that half the ride takes place in. They could probably get away with scaling down some of taller peaks, but the fast majority of the rock work needs to be there for the ride to be effective.
