This could be nothing, but I just called dining and they're making some updates and are unable to make reservations right now.

I know I should just wait to see the actual dates if/when free dining is offered for 2013, but I'm impatient!

I know sometimes the free dining dates aren't all in a row (there are gaps), so I'm wondering if anyone knows what they were for Jan 2012? What I really want to know is, were stays that started over marathon weekend eligible for free dining? Family and I are going for a week and will be checking in Jan12, which is during marathon weekend...

Free dining check in dates for January 2012 were January 8-12 and January 21-February 2.

The marathon was January 8. You could get it for the Marathon weekend only if you checked in the day of the marathon. Or you checked out that day and checked back in again.

Martin Luther King Day was January 16. That weekend and the dates around it were excluded.

For 2013, the marathon is on January 12, and Martin Luther King Day is January 21.

the past 2 years, the January offers have been released in August.

Thanks so much for the info! If the dates are like that this year, I might just give up on free dining and hope for a good room-only discount instead; free dining is getting to be quite a hassle for me lol

And I'm not super-super into the dining plan, I was only hoping for free dining because, according to my calculations, it would save us the most money, barring a 35-40% room-only discount. Guess I'll have to hope for that now

We're hoping for free dining for August 2013, or maybe a PIN if we're lucky(haven't been in the past). Please let me know if you hear anything!! The wait is driving me mad!! I've heard that waiting to book may give us a better chance at getting a PIN but then we run the risk of no room availability..

Decisions, decisions!!

If there's no room availability there won't be free dining for that section of that resort anyway.

I think you have a ways to wait for August 2013 free dining, usually public offers for that time come out around March to May of the same year.
