We're Booked!

It's another one of those proper post about planning.

We're booked in for next year. We check-in on the 2nd October and check-out on the 9th October.

Our home resort is Beach Club Villa.

We've decided that because it is Food and Wine; and also because there might be a couple of cooked dinners as part of the DisMeets, we're going to pay OOP for our food.

About the only other news is that DH and I have definitely decided that this is going to be a 4-week trip. Aside from WDW, the 4-corners area from Sedona to Durango is on the table and I'm also looking at 2 nights Mickey Cheating with Harry at Universal.

We still have to work out if the East Coast is doable.

I'm happy to dance with you
I have 2 opinions
We had tried usual things to keep them away, including something like coyote urine, it is sold in hardware stores by us

4 weeks! Great! Who will care for your cat? I was away for 4+ weeks this past January, Tom was home for most of it with Belle, but I really missed her. I'm away for 3+ weeks this year, had to cut it a bit shorter.

We have a pet service that comes here. They have a key to our house and will visit our cats twice...once in the morning and once in the afternoon. They pretty much feed them, brush them, pet them and play with them; if the cat wants.

And they will also open and shut curtains, empty out my mail box, put the trash out (for the first week) and keep an eye on the house.

I did wonder about getting strangers into the house at first; but now I don't know what we would do without their service. Its nice that the cats stay at home and are comfortable; plus we like knowing that there is someone going in and out of our place twice a day. Our neighbours know about their comings and goings and say that the person that does our place is very nice.

You're away for 3 weeks this year? Hope you'll be in Dis-communication!

Congrats on the booking. Too bad we will not be overlapping trips though. I will look forward to seeing where/if you end up in the Northeast at all. Niagara Falls is quite beautiful in the fall.

Thanks Pete. I'm also equally as curious to see where I end up. DH and I are definite on the 4-corners area.
I need to work out departure dates and arrival home dates next; before I can work out where we go!

November Bits and Pieces

It's been a month of two parts.

The first couple of weeks of the month was all excitement and freedom as DH and I headed to California. DS decided he wanted to stay home with the grandparents. I've been spending some time on the Disneyland section of the boards writing the TR of this trip. It is bittersweet to revisit the holiday whilst living in the second part of the month.

The second part of the month has been much more normal and mundane. Work, home and life in general has just consumed all my time. With the impending silly season, all things Christmas has been foremost on everyone's mind.....coupled with the usual end of year events.

So far. We've had to attend the end of year concerts for DS (he learns both guitar and piano).

I was asked to take pictures of the kids in the guitar concert, officially in an unofficial capacity....if you know what I mean.

And we've been catching up with 3D friends. What is it about Christmas that makes everyone rush to catch up with each other?

This was my dinner plate from the one of the catch-ups. Would you believe that the server told me that this was a "reasonable" serving?

Yup. I couldn't even make my way through one of those slab!

I'm going to resort to rabbit leaves between now and Christmas!

Milos

Milos Karadaglic is in town. This young’ish man has taken the classical world by storm, with two excellent recordings on the Deutsche Grammophon label and a major concert at the Royal Albert Hall. He seems intent on making the classical guitar accessible to the masses.

The formal “informal” concert was held last night at the Melbourne Recital Hall and we had tickets to go see him. True to standard policy, my dSLR is verboten in that venue so there are no pictures in the hall. But the performance was brilliant and the crowd did not let Milos off the stage until he completed two encores. If you like listening to guitar music and he happens to come by your neck of the woods, I highly recommend that you get yourself a ticket for his concert.

However….I was walking about town on Tuesday night and passed by a record shop. I rarely walk in this part of town but by some quirk of life, I did so. There was a poster in the window of the record shop and it caught my eye. Turns out that Milos was going to be doing in-store signings at that store on Friday night. As I was going to be in town on Friday, it seemed like a good idea to head on down and get some bonus Christmas present for me and DH sorted out.

I’m so glad I did. It was a little more than the standard in-store signing. Milos ended up doing a mini interview and played two pieces.

It was a chance to get up and personal with him.......along with about 30 others.

He played for about 10 minutes and was so charming and gracious with us all afterwards.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that he is easy on the eye!

Yes. Especially when he is good with his instrument as well.

O Christmas Tree

Christmas has come to my house. At least....on the inside...

My tree has also gone up for this year.

I have one that has a musical theme. I've been collecting musical decorations for way too many years now.

Over the years, I've even found Disney ones to fit in the theme. This is one of my favourites....Mickey and Minnie carolling.

I like to think that this is the Magician's Hat from Fantasia, with all that glorious classical music.

(Yes, I do know it's the Hat from DHS! )

I even found Donald and Pluto jingle dangles and as they make a musical noise (other than quack and woof), it fits!

Another favourite....although I have to draw a rather long bow for this one. I like to think of this as the First Noel.

DH is responsible for the outside lights. With the workload he's under, I don't hold out any hope of them going up this year...and I'm not going to nag him about it either. It certainly won't kill me if they aren't up this year.

Here's to a stress-free Christmas preparation month!

I think I remember reading about your music themed Christmas tree last year - I love it I really wish mine had a theme but I've got too many different themed ornaments that are special to me now! Having said that, our tree isn't even up yet...

I'm with you on the lights. Sure they look pretty, but on the list of priorities in life, nobody's going to care if they're down the bottom.

Your tree is beautiful! I love the Disney ornaments

We have several Disney ones on our tree. I can't wait until we can get our 2013 ornament at DTD.
