Got the call from ABD today--our xmas trip to Egypt was cancelled. Thankfully we didn't buy the airfare yet. I would imagine that all of the trips are off for now. It's a shame--looked like a great trip, but Disney can't control the politics there.

I am sorry to hear that. That is one ABD trip that I hope to do someday. How about joining us on our Tauck Africa trip during that same time frame?

Our Egypt ABD (over this past New Years) was cancelled last September. I see the ABD website now only has Egypt trips for February and April 2014. Too bad.

Not as of now. We are looking forward to getting the 2014 dates for Scotland, which is likely our next ABD (sad to say-more than a year away!)

Hi Patti! Well, we view this as a sign that we should spend this xmas at home, and save up for a trip to Scotland next summer with ABD. We have looked at Tauck--get lots of nice brochures from them!--but have never traveled with them--so we are interested in your impressions of the trip, their guides etc. Are you in Africa for Christmas Day and/or New Year's? George

We've given this trip a serious look--I like it, but can't get the kids too excited about it. (Pyramids yes; "Brave" inspirations, yes...) I'll rely on your trip report to convince them!

I should have been in Egypt now. My Father was taking my Sister and I on holiday. We had booked and paid with a tour company but too many people backed out before the final payment so it was cancelled. I am sad but he Rebooked with the company and we are going to China in two weeks time.

Hi George,
Yes, we will be in Africa for Christmas and New Years. The tour schedule has us hiking part way up Kilimanjaro on Christmas Day. I will let you know how Tauck compares with ABD. The tour we are taking is geared toward multi generations traveling together so they do have kids activities like spear throwing and bow and arrow lessons on the schedule.

Patti, I am interested in your review of how Tauck will compare to ABD. We have taken a Tauck Bridges tour and have our own thoughts. Please post after your trip. Have a wonderful time.
