Pirate Night Alaska 2013 Replaced by "Pixar Pals" Night...
A member of our CruiseMeet posted today that there will not be Pirate Night on the Alaska cruises this summer, but rather that it will be replaced with a "Pixar Pals" night that will feature some sort of character meet-and-greet and a show.
I called and was able to confirm this, but I didn't ask for much detail...if any has been thought out yet. Does anyone have additional info on this?

If this had been posted yesterday, I would have thought it was a joke, but I remain skeptical until I see some sort of official announcement. The DCL Facebook page would have certainly mentioned this sort of major change.
If it's true, I like the idea--though wish it could be more Alaskan-themed. They could easily have a "pioneer night" of some sort. Also, if this is true, then perhaps the reports of the pirate menu being replaced by the Taste of Alaska menu could be true. In that case, I hope my Palo reservation isn't the same night! |

I read about this change recently too, but I don't remember where. I'm also hoping that it's true. I wasn't really impressed by Pirate's night, and I would love to see some Pixar characters.

I don't have any details other then that the Disney Shoreside Concierge team did confirm to me that there will be the Pixar themed night in place of the Pirate night on the Alaskan cruise. If my memory serves me correctly it will be on our Juneau night.

On our 7/26/11 Alaska cruise we had the Taste of Alaska menu on pirate night.

I "wonder" if the party will be moved inside to protect the nature aspects of the trip??
DCL doesn't do fireworks and maybe the party was a bit too loud and the screen to bright on pirate night? I'd miss pirate night. It's our favorite. |

I am on the May 27th Alaska cruise and a number of people had confirmed by DCL that there would be a Pixar party on the Juneau night, which included a party in the atrium with some of the Pixar characters.

I am hoping this may signal the end of Pirate night. I was never a fan except the fireworks. Time for a change.

On YouTube it looks like it is woody and Jessie singing you've got a friend. I think the other Pixar characters are around for intros and character signing. It didn't look like a production like pirate night. Maybe the will expand it. It was all in the atrium from what I saw

Since they can't shoot off fireworks on the Alaska cruises, or do the party outdoors, it does make sense that they would try something else.

For those who have seen a similar show done in the atrium, is there really enough room for a full ship to view a show there? I've only been on the Wonder once a couple of years ago, but I don't recall it being a very big space to house a show for all on the ship.
