Last night, after 31 days, they transferred my Dad from Coronary Intensive Care to the Step-down unit...and so far, no phone call for me to rescue him. They are cleaning out the CCU for the upcoming holiday, they were already down to 5 patients yesterday AM and when they sent Dad out, there was only 1 left.. I DO think he was ready for the move, his healing will simply take time, both inpatient and once he is discharged. I truly want to Thank ALL of you for the continued prayers, they have been so supportive and uplifting through this very trying time.

OK, I first have to say it's absolutely absurd that they are cleaning out a unit for a holiday. I really hope your Dad was in good enough shape to go. I am glad to hear you haven't received any calls of panic, but I also saw the time you were typing
I am happy to hear that you think he was able to go, healthwise. That makes me feel much better. My prayers for a continued recovery one day at a time.

I'm so glad your dad is doing better! The nurses on step down have more patients than in CCU so it's an adjustment.hope he continues to improve and his mouth heals quickly!
I have a lot of doctor appointments next week before returning to work. I need to have a pre cancerous lesion removed from the top of my ear. It's very small but needs to be gone before it creates other problems. I need to see the cardiologist for final clearance to return to work, and I have tests from the ENT doctor to rule out or determine if I have Ménière's disease. I'm getting a very small idea of how you fit so much in your day! I'm a little concerned about returning to 3-12 hour days a week, but they will only hold my job until then so it's back to work! My prayers continue for all in need and I wish everyone a very blessed holiday. |

Judy, I hope that your dad will get more rest in the step-down unit AND good nursing care. I hope that the mouth/throat lesions clear up soon.
Thrilled to hear that Lisa is no longer leaking! Best news! Lastly, Pete makes a great Gomez! Prayers for all. |

Love all the Halloween pictures
Thank you Michelle. What your your cutie pies foe Halloween? Did you ever post pics of MNSHP anywhere? Have your friends completed their move to NC? When are you coming to visit me??? My kids went as a Witch, Frodo (from the Hobbit) and Thomas the Train. I haven't posted pictures yet from MNSSHP but I will soon. Yes (sort of) my friends family have moved down. But my friend is back up here to keep working for benefits. It is so complicated I really don't understand what is going on with them![]() Quote:

So glad that he is feeling better to get transferred but I never heard of cleaning out a unit either and my mom has been a CCU nurse for 20 years.

Judy,
Sorry I haven't been around much, just been trying to get used to our new schedule with John home. Love the picsof the girls at halloween. They are so cute. Wish I had got some pics of mine this year, but that was the night that John went into the hospital so I wasent thinking clearly enough for pictures. The cupcakes look yummy. NowIm craving something sweet! I am so glad to hear your dad is doingbetter. Our prayers are with you all.

Thank you for all of the lovely messages. Something always seems to need my time, even when activities are cancelled, so I was MIA yesterday.
Lisa woke up yesterday with a horrible migraine and stuffed nose...and by mid-afternoon was much better! We have two MD appts this AM; however, had to respond to Michelle. It isn't uncommon to consolidate patients from CCU to ICU if the census is down, non-emergency surgeries will NOT be preformed this week, nobody (including docs) want to spend time in the hospital over a holiday...we have spent WAY too many holidays in the hospital and it is very lonely. Of course, this hospital (I went to school here and did the majority of my clinical experiences here) is not a "teaching hospital" (ie:residents). Doesn't happen often; however, they actually close wings on occasion. And I am not going to say how long I have been a nurse... ![]() a long time...I just want to remind everyone, hug your children close and love them. Be thankful for your blessings. No matter what your situation, there are blessings, embrace them. I really am very thankful. ![]() I will be back.

Typing from phone, so please ignore the auto correct errors. Love the office pics. So glad your dad was transferred out and you didn't get any rescue calls. Sorry Lisa had migraine. Glad she feels better. Sent you an email last night.

When I was in the hospital the last time, I actually had better care in the step down unit than I did in the ICU! The ICU ignored alarms going off, skipped BP checks (and I was in for stroke,) and were rushed and rude when they did interact. If my sister hadn't been there, I don't know what I would have done. Once when they hadn't done a bp check all night, she asked the morning shift when they would come in. They replied that one had been done an hour ago (they had numbers recorded) and my sister told them that she had been there all night and they hadn't been in since 10 p.m. They had fake readings recorded for 12, 2, 4 and 6.....supposedly decreasing a few points each time. When they really took it, the reading was very different!
