Judy, I really am going to email those photos to you this morning!
We've had a crazy week so far, as usual.
Emily's CT is negative for appendicitis, and there are no other findings. The dr here wants us to mention abdominal migraines to our neurosurgeon in MD. I had never heard of that and I looked it up. They can be caused by stress and/or other things, but one of the other things is an overproduction of histamines. Well, Em has Mast Cell Activation Disorder, so this could be the culprit. We shall see.

In the meantime, the surgery center called to gather information about her for her surgery and told me her surgery has been moved to Thursday morning at 8:15 instead of Friday. She is supposed to see a hematologist on Thursday afternoon, and no one called me from the surgeon's office to let me know. She is supposed to see the hematologist BEFORE the surgery. I have gone round and round with his office trying to get someone to call me back or something! Finally, I got his medical assistant on the phone and she said that he said it is okay and we can see the hematologist after the surgery. Great, but now we have to stay more days and will probably have to stay in MD for Thanksgiving.

I have scheduled her appt with that doctor for Tuesday next week and it is late in the day, so that takes care of Tuesday. I am worried about trying to travel on Wednesday since it is so heavily traveled and if she does have a clotting disorder, sitting in a car for hours is not the best idea. Besides, she is going to be sore. So it looks like we might be stranded in MD. My husband is going to Birmingham to be with his parents with the other girls and I hate we are going to be separated. We were whether or not we were back from MD, but I guess the reality of it is sinking in.

So, surgery is in the morning at 8:15. She is not nervous at all. She has peace that is amazing. She says she just wants to feel better.

Thank you for all the prayers.
Kelly xo
Kelly, I am glad it wasn't Emily's appendix, but wish she had an answer. I am glad you all had already decided to not go to see the in laws with DH. As I told Emily, ya'll let me know if you make it back to NC and need a place to eat dinner. So happy her surgery will be outpatient and pray for an easy recovery.

Thanks D, I thought they were cute. Rachel would't even trick or treat if it weren't for Lisa; however, Lisa loves having her with her.
I am much the same way... My girls will verify. LOL I have only purchased them 3 costumes in their entire lives, and then I make them wear them several years in a row. I am too cheap to spend $$ on something they wear for one night.
Our costumes get worn to pieces, that is certain. Rachel just addd her accessories to black pants and a T-shirt...instant costume.
Thanks for the recipe directions too! I copy and pasted them right into a Word Doc. and directly into my recipe file in my docs. I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me that, with everything you have on your plate.
Good thing you caught it when you did, I reacted everything but the ice water, too wordy for your question.
Still praying for your Dad and everyone else here. (((Hugs)))

D~
Thank you.

Judy - love the pictures of the girls in their Halloween costumes. Lisa looks gorgeous with her beautiful dress and long flowing hair. I love Rachel as the cat in the hat!! What have you been feeding that girl? I think she has grown a few inches from some pictures you posted from your trip. I really noticed it in the walk pictures.

By the way, thanks to you and Kelly for posting those pictures. It looks like everyone had fun at the walk and for such a great cause.

Sorry to hear that your dad will be in the hospital for a while longer but I'm glad that he is able to stay there and heal with constant care.

Kelly - sorry to hear that the surgery was rescheduled and it will mess up your other appointment. Sounds like it will be a long week for you and Emily. I am sad that you will not be with the rest of the family for Thanksgiving.

Andrea - thinking about Alexa crying herself to sleep makes me so sad. Why does it have to be so hard to be a kid? I hope that she is feeling better about herself today. I know if can be hard to see your children hurting.

So at 10:50 I started posting the last responses and the phone rings (my cell...grrr). Respiratory therapist called to say the bi-pap download hadnt worked and she needed to come back out, pick up the machine and take it to the office...then bring it back. I have less than two hours before I have to leave again, that is not going to work. Christian has an appt. with his neuro, then David has two explorer post meetings. While I am speaking to her, the insurance guy calls the home phone, another headache, then Pete calls the cell phone (no minutes used)...while I am speaking to him, I discover I have NO water (I am multi-tasking trying to clean and handle the calls). Now I am just sitting here trying to breathe and not laugh, cause I just told a good friend everybody but me seemed to be in a funk...
I REFUSE to let the devil win, even though one of our toilets is in much need of flushing...

Now I just need the water to turn back on! I have already called, seems mine was the first call the water dept. rceived, but the switchboard was lighting up...got to laugh!! Although I screamed at first when it sounded like the toilet was going to explode and David came to see if he should turn off all of the water, every toilet in the house was making a horrid noise...

Thanks Liz. Rachel is so much taller than most of my friends., so she looks taller next to others as well. Did you see Lisa was almost as tall as Emily, who is twice her age. Rachel has grown about 2 inches this summer she is taller than ME now!
By the way, thanks to you and Kelly for posting those pictures. It looks like everyone had fun at the walk and for such a great cause.
It was such a great day, we had a lot of fun, including meeting Kelly and family.

He is where he needs to be; although I see where poor care has extended his stay.

I know Liz, why does life have to be so hard. It hurts our hearts to see our children hurt and I just fell in love with Alexa, she is such a cutie pie. I understand though about self esteem issues, it plagues so many. The good thing about age is that usually you realize that some things don't matter.

Now I need to figure out lunch with NO water!

She is feeling better, but I think she is frustrated that she is not completly back to her 'old self', still gets tired easy, has a hard time eatting some things. But They do say for the type of surgery it can be 6 month to a year for recovery. Thankyou for keeping her in your prayer, I really apreciate it.

Sorry for lurking again. Loved the pics of the walk and Halloween. So happy to hear water is back! Prayers continue for all in need!!! Not sure if I shared my excitement about the NY MAW trip---how cool!!

Hope your Dad continues to improve!

Don't think rest is killing the headache I have so better find the aspirin. I have a mountain of laundry to put away and a gift to finish sewing so I can start on Kaity's Christmas dress in time for pics in a couple weeks.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is a rainy day and I have a lot of driving to do. Rachel has an MD appt (45 mins away), then I have to pick up my Mom and take her to the hospital (always a 90 minute round trip drive...I am tired already and the day hasn't started. We also have ballet, voice, guitar lessons and jazz ensemble for the girls, so always an adventure...Maybe I will get a moment to post Halloween pics, since it is almost Thanksgiving...otherwise the time will be past.
I'm just glad to help when and where ever I can!! I sent you a PM.
Wow!! Where to start with us. My father in law is in limbo right now. One day he's doing good the next not so much. They just lost their dog to old age so they are having a hard time dealing with that.
I just found out that my biological father lied about having cancer to get sympathy from me. What a way to aleinate your daughter whose life you were out of of 26 years. That's not the way to get me to like you!!
Finally celebrated my DD's 4th and my DS's 2nd birthday (a month late!!!!) and they had a great time sharing my DD's Preschool with the family! Been busy working in my DD's Co op Preschool and my 5 year old DS's classroom. They both love having me work in their schools.
Kids had a great Halloween!! The boys were both Jake and my DD was Izzy from Jake and the Neverland Pirates (I'll have to post a pic once I get some uploaded. They turned out really cute!!)
There's so much more but I feel like my busy day's can't even compare to yours!! (Not that I'm trying cuz I'm not!!!!)
Still praying on a daily basis for your family and hope your dad can come home sooner rather than later!!
Just a quick drop in because I'm quite discombobulated at the moment. Too much going on ... too little time.
Thank you all for the prayers for Alexa. Two nights ago she was her normal self and last night she was crying again, only couldn't explain why. I have an Amazon order which I haven't placed yet (was hoping to delay it to next month's credit card statement) and in the order I have the AG book The Care and Keeping of You and The Feelings Book. I am going to order them today and start her with The Feelings Book as soon as it arrives. Maybe it will help her express herself better and also I'm hoping it teaches her sensitivity toward what she directs at others.
We also have an offer on our house -- don't get excited. I'm sure the buyer's realtor was embarrassed to submit it. We owe $25K more than the offer. We did counter but our realtor is quite certain they are looking for a bargain, though English is not their first language and she has a hard time understanding them. I can say that so far our new realtor is so much better than our last one. She's probably had more showings in 1.5 months than our previous one had in several months.
Judy -- how is your Dad progressing? I hope all is going smoothly.
Prayers for Emily and her surgery today.
Lisa -- hope Haiti preparations are without difficulty and that Megan is doing well with them. I am so sorry I have not been over on your thread in ages. I don't know where my time is going, but I feel so disorganized and am working to getting back in the swing of things.
I am missing so many comments but must head to get the kids going for school. I hope I can find time to go back and properly comment. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you who post on Judy's thread. I feel like we're all one big family
Judy, hope your dad is continuing to progress well and that Christian is feeling better.
The MAW walk looked fun. We always do the Autism walk here and I think we will do the Epilepsy walk this year as Team Fairly Odd Ducks in honor of Tessa's love of fairys and Jonnies love of Ducks. Tessa drew the cutest picture of a duck with fairy wings and a wand that I would love to put on shirts for that walk. Seems only appropriate that we participate in that one since this year has brought two diagnosis of epilepsy to our family.
John is home now. He has to wear a life vest (external defibulator) 24 hrs a day because his heart is not strong enough to risk placing a pace maker and internal defibulator yet. They are hoping maybe in three months. His heart rate kept going into tacchycardia yesterday and making the vests siren go off and say "treatment pending, bystanders do not interfere." Thankfully it never had to actually shock him, so far his heart is normalizing itself but I was on edge all day. Hopefully today will be less stressful. John wants to go with us to the Shriners circus tonight if he feels up to it. He has neverbeen with me to take the kids to a circus so this time would be special for them.
My prayers go out to your family Judy and to all those in need here.
