Thanks - you and your family have a great time also. My DD is 12, maybe we'll be able to say hi !!

I will probably be on Dis every night after the parks to add to my trip report.

Probably, but only during Studios hours (and 1.5 hours after) obviously. Later than that, transfer buses via DTD.

Movies: the room doors are pretty thick, but you still might hear something I guess. It won't be very loud indoors though.

Swimming: there are no age/height restriction on the slides, but only one person can ride at a time. We've never had any problems bringing our own floatation devices for our daughter (armbands) when she was younger, but you can get life-jackets for kids from the resort if you wish. Yes, noodles are allowed in the pool (they sell them in the shop in fact).

They are Cuisinart dual-cup 'pod' machines. I don't have a photo myself yet, but they are standard around many WDW hotels now.

That's a good plan. Or you could walk from HS if you want, instead of taking the boat.

1. We have garden view. If we happen to be facing the courtyard where the movies are being shown nightly, will the sound be able to be heard in the room? I just want to make sure this won't be a problem.

2. For the pool slide, are there any height/age restrictions or can any child go on it?

3. Is any store bought swim-vest OK and can they be used on the slide? From the portorleans.org site: "Safety devices permitted at Walt Disney World resort pools: Walt Disney World approved flotation devices, which must be securely attached and supervising adults must remain within arms reach of the person using the device. Life jackets are available at the resorts".

4. Yet another pool question - are "noodles" permitted? My DS4 has just gotten comfortable in the water and will only "swim" while leaning on one.
I had a room facing the courtyard where the movies were and I didn't really hear them at all. Before the movie when my tv was off I could kind of hear the kids running around playing games (tag I think) but it was very faint. I could not hear them at all once I put the tv on.

They sell noodles so they should be allowable.

You are not allowed to go down the slide together and you can't stand in front of the slide to catch a child, so any child would have to be independant enough to go solo and to swim in at least 3-4 feet of water till you could get to them. Although supposedly they can wear life jackets on the slide.

Is this a new rule? The last time we stayed at POFQ my husband was able to wait at the bottom of the slide for my son. He wore the life jacket, but it wasn't a problem. So I guess they've changed it. That's the rule in our neighborhood pool too, my daughter is not going to be happy!

Subbing. I am a LM AoA transplant (after FD rolled out, and those rooms were excluded from the offer). Looking forward to staying @ POFQ, looks beautiful!

We will be there 11/1-11/10.

When did this change? We stayed at POFQ this past Feb with my 3 y/o GS. Each child had to go down the slide by himself, but alot of the parents/grandparents were standing at the bottom of the slide, sort of off to the side. Then when our little one came down, we'd just step up to the bottom of the slide and catch them. The life guard was right there and never said a word. No one was allowed to just stay at the bottom of the slide, we all stood off to the side, but did step over when our particular little one came down. My GS loved the slide and even after riding it multiple times, you could hear him screaming at the top of his lungs "Nana catch me, Nana catch me", as soon as he left the serpents mouth. lol He wore a life jacket on it that we borrowed for the week from the gift shop. He's very tiny for his age, so the life vest was very small. The lady at the gift shop told us they didn't have that many of the extra small ones, so for us to keep it in the room for the week, but to make sure we returned it to the gift shop on our last day and not leave it in the room, or we'd be charged for it.

I was over at CSR this past May and saw lots of parents waiting off to the side of the slide, then stepping in front to catch their kid as they came down. The lifeguards didn't say anything to them either. They wouldn't let anyone just stay in front of the slide where they could be hit by other kids coming down, but did allow them to stand off to the side, then step in front when their kid was coming down.

That's fine, and is basically what the PP said. You can't just stand right at the bottom of the slide when it's in use, but you can stand just to the side and step over to catch your little one when they come down.

Yep that was what I was trying to say, you can stay to the side. If they shoot out and you can't grab them right away they need to be able to float up or tread water.

A lot of times it will depend on the LG as well, some are more tolerant of where a parent may or may not be waiting to grab a kid.

Hi there! We just booked FQ for a spur of the moment short trip. We had planned to take this year off and wait for our long trip next summer at the Poly, but just couldn't stay away. We were going to book POR as we've stayed there in the past and love it, but decided to go out on a limb and try FQ. We're really excited! We'll be there in early August for just a 5 day trip. Thanks for the great info on this thread!

We are leaning towards this resort - how long does it take on the Disney transportation to get to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom from the hotel?

Hi, I just had to post on this thread tonight because we are now booked for Feb. 11-15. I'm excited to actually see and stay in this smallest of the moderate WDW resorts. It appears to be lovely (except for the food court, which is not my style at all.)

Looking at staying at this resort in May.

Do they still do the fishing activity?
