Reviews on 'Best Friends Pet Care' on Disney Property
Folks, thanks for this amazing site - unfortunately for you, i have no idea what i'm doing and hope this lands in the right place. I am traveling to Disney for a family reunion for 8 days in May (lucky me!) but have recently acquired a 2 year old rescue cockapoo. My plan had always been to leave her at the Best Friends Pet Care on Disney property but after reading some reviews i'm a little concerned. Many of the reviews are dated so i wanted to put out this request for help. Does anyone have experience with this facility? What are your thoughts? My pup is 2 years old, 20 pounds and perfectly pleasant. Doesn't snap, doesn't really bark, just a great all around gal. Appreciate your input! Kelly |

I'd honestly try to find a petsitter to come to your home. Is your cocker/poodle mix a mill rescue by any chance? I only ask because mill dogs tend to have high levels of anxiety being put back in situations like that.
And ![]() ![]() Thank you for saving a life! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have one too, he's staying home but there's cross border issues with ours
I'd personally feel happier leaving him with a pet sitter or relative regardless, though.

Not a mill rescue, just a stray found on the street. She really has absolutely no tendencies of a rescue (which makes me feel blessed). Unfortunately Pet sitter is out of the question... so its either board her locally in Atlanta or take her with us and board her down there where i can visit her.

Okay so the website made me laugh. Reading books to a dog? Suuuuuuure
![]() That aside, it looks like a good quality kennel. Can't comment on the staff though. I totally understand why you'd consider it in your situation, much better than not being able to visit while they're in a kennel back home. |

This has been such a stressful decision for me. Who would have thunk it! I love that i can visit her and play with her... and ultimately i believe it is a good thing that she'll be interacting with other dogs and people. She is all black with a white paw - she'll make a perfect minnie mouse! She is my family, you know how that goes.

while you are enjoying the parks, they will send you pictures of your dog playing or something. like i said ive boarded my dog at two places in florida. one would be my vet here and tampa and the other best friends at disney. when i got him back from the vet he was sluggish and depressed almost.. best friends he was very very happy.. now keep in mind he was crate trained and loves his crate despite the fact he hasnt been actually locked in it in about 6 years he uses it has his little house or cave so he is comfortable in situations where he doesnt have the largest area in the world..
i get the indoor outdoor rooms so he can sit outside or inside if hed like. Last edited by heyitsmejosh; 05-02-2012 at 04:07 PM. |

We used Best Friends for our dog (9 lb Rat Terrier) this past August. She did not enjoy the first 2 days as this was her first time away from us (1 and a half years old) but after that she enjoyed. We loved the fact we could spend as much time as we wanted with her and the staff were very pleasant and understanding. She was not eating the first two days and the staff kept us up to date. I had to sit next to her until she felt comfortable enough to eat. We would use it again in a heartbeat.

i have 7 dogs (yes, seven) and boarded 5 of them there for a Christmas trip in 2010. they were fantastic!! by the time we got to our resort we had a message that one of our westies had attacked one of our yorkies. for everyone's safety the westie was put in her own quarters for the rest of the trip and the other 4 shared the vip suite. we went and saw them and played with them in back area everyday. they had the best time. i would not hesitate to take them back again.

Wish someone had pics available of the indoor suites. We've got a shy dachshund - chihuahua mix. She's a rescue

Honestly, I think you should find a kennel convenient to where you live. You won't always vacation at WDW, so it's a good thing to establish a relationship between a local kennel and you and your dog.
My precious doggie got to know the family who ran the kennel we took him to and enjoyed his time there. He always came home freshly bathed with his nails trimmed too. Being him a "watch dog extraordinaire," hiring a dogsitter wouldn't have worked for him, but going to the same kennel every time did. (I wish I still had him to take there. We had to put him down 2 weeks ago, and I'm heartbroken. I miss him so much!) Good luck with your puppy!
