![]() ![]() ![]() I was very pleased. The cake was moist, and the carrot cake/moch mousse combo worked even better than I expected. I haven't eaten much fondant before, but I really liked what Disney used. We ate slices most morning for breakfast, but still had plenty left by the time we went home. Since we drove, it wasn't an issue to pack the leftovers up. Even a week later, the cake hadn't dried out. As I said in my original post, I emailed Janet at Pop with pictures of what I was looking for design-wise. I just searched for Mulan cakes on Google and saved a few pictures of what I liked. I chose the image I wanted printed on the chocolate cut-out and specified what color I wanted the fondant to be and what I wanted the chocolate banner to say. My sister loved it, and it was a complete surprise to her. She felt bad about eating Mulan but that didn't stop her.I hope that helped you a little. The ordering process was a lot easier than I expected. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. |

What should I put as budget for this cake.... 8 inch blueprint with rock-roller-coaster theme. Have no clue as to what I should put as budget. Not sure what other cakes have gone for. Thanks

In both cases, my quotes have come in well under my specified max budget. Both of mine have been 8" cakes, but I also had some sugar work in addition to white chocolate figure toppers (which adds a bit). Flavor also can factor into price and I believe some fillings (i.e. the ones with fresh fruit) have a higher price than the other options.Just to give you an idea of prices and what we got for the $... ![]() belle cake/ beauty and the beast cake $150 in 2011 (red velvet w/passion fruit mousse and vanilla buttercream) ![]() Mickey bday cake- Disney Contemporary $137 in 2012 (chocolate w/raspberry mousse, cream cheese, and chocolate buttercream) Both of my cakes were done by the Contemporary, but I helped a friend with an 8" cake that was done by the GF bakery too... ![]() Allie's Sweet 16 Cake $117 in 2011 (lemon w/vanilla buttercream) (she supplied the topper portion from home) So, not sure what your max budget is for a cake, but this should give you at least some idea what people have paid for 8" cakes. So, a lot will come down to how much decoration you want and flavors you want. |

Advice please. We were at Disney in Nov. when on our 2nd day there my MIL passed away and we had to return home. The kids have been asking to go finish our trip so we are in Feb. I really want to make this trip extra special given the circumstances.
We will be at Disney Feb. 2-9. My son will be turning 7 on the 7th. We have Liberty tree tavern for lunch that day and want to get a cake. He LOVES lion king. I have learned from this thread I need to contact that cake line and then the CR bakery--right??? What should I ask for, do I need to be specific? It can be small and I would love something lion king themed, is that enough info?. Also, my 14 year old is getting her braces off the day before our trip so I thought of ordering a mini cake with the castle topper as a "congratulations" cake for her at either our garden grill ressie or our narcossess ressie. Which one do you all think would be the best place to get this special treat for her? Thanks in advance everyone. |

My condolences on your loss.
![]() For a fancy cake at Liberty Tree Tavern, you can call Private Dining at the Contemporary directly. You could use the Cake Hotline, but it's a more circuitous route. If you don't have a specific design in mind, asking for a Lion King theme should be enough. Just be sure to request fondant over the buttercream if you want it to be really fancy like the elaborate cakes you see on Cake Boss. Otherwise it will be covered in buttercream and look more like a supermarket cake. You might just Google "Lion King cake" or plug the phrase into flickr.com and see what others have designed. The only place you can get a mini cake with a tiny white chocolate castle topper is the Grand Floridan, so you'd need to order it for Narcoossee's. Have a great trip!

Need some help and ideas.
My friend is going on a Make a Wish trip in Feb. They have already done 1 MAW with their oldest child and now are going on one for their youngest. They have 3 kids. I would like to have something for the at one of their dinners. At first I thought about doing something for the middle child--sense she probably tends to be overlooked for special moments. Just my opinion. I do not want to let my friend know I am doing this. They are extending their trip by adding on days after the wish trip and I helped them get DVC points to do this. When I asked her kids faves this what she said: Wish child- Cinderella, Sleeping Billy (Aurora), Belle, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Minnie Mouse..."all the prince and princesses" middle child- Rapunzel, Cinderella, Belle, Minnie Mouse. oldest child- Buzz and Woody, Mickey and the fab five, Lighning McQueen Had thought about doing 3 mini cakes, but by the time I add teh cost of each and all the fees I could do a small cake. Help me come up with ideas on how to do this.

personally i would call the cake hotline an, they'll give you an email address for the chef that makes the cakes for that resort/restaurant where you want the cake presented -- and tell them your ideas and they can tell you what they can/can't do. I wanted to do a monorail train aorund an over the hill/"dark" cake and although I was told they couldn't combine the 2 different themes, he came up with a great alternative. good luck!!

Coral Reef - 12/4/12
Ok so on our trip we had two cakes, I posted the other one earlier. I had called private dining and gave them the info for a birthday cake to be delivered to the Coral Reef.
It is a 6" chocolate cake, vanilla buttercream, basic decorations in a "reef" theme. Cake $21, Simple decorations $30 Total $51 The cake was delish!! It was a fantasic surpise, and the service from both the girl I spoke with on the phone (nice, personable, seemed to know a lot more than the woman I spoke to at CR) It was the perfect meal, we had a booth right up front and our server was phenomonal! Here is the cake, the surprise factor was so great!!
