I am having some challenges in my cake ordering process with the Contemporary. I am wondering if someone can provide some perspective on what I have requested and if perhaps I could've done it a little differently. My goal here is to gain some insight.
I requested an 8" chocolate filled fondant covered Cinderella themed cake with chocolate buttercream frosting underneath. My only request was a solid white chocolate Cinderella with a few silver accents painted on the figurine, and I left the rest up to the pastry chef. I attached some examples of cakes that I found on the internet that I liked, some of which were cakes with a different princess/characters that could be done in a Cinderella theme. I just liked the overall style of the cakes. I wrote comments next to each saying what I liked about them and how each might be Cinderella themed. A couple of the cakes were 2 or 3 tiered, but I stated what I specifically liked about the cake. My challenge now is that I have been asked if I want a multiple tiered or single tiered cake with a Cinderella chocolate figure, with the rest of the cake to be of different characters that are not from Cinderella. (I also stated that my budget was preferably around $125 but that I was willing to go up to $160 or so). I know there is no way that a 2 or more tiered cake could be met with my budget. I thought that the process was going really well until today. I'm feeling kind of confused (did I confuse them with my request?) I am wondering if I should have sketched something or just left the whole thing up for surprise. Did I make a mistake by attaching the photos? Thanks for any open thoughts. |

Chef Brian works at the Contemporary. The Contemporary serves itself, Ft. Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge and the Magic Kingdom.

Hi! Totally forgot that I had an account here. I've been lurking here for a week now and thought i'd share what I'm hoping to do. I left Pat a message today as I'm hoping to order a mini cake for our 3rd anniversary/my birthday... Hopefully it will be prettier than my sketches. I want devil's food cake with buttercream frosting.
![]() ![]() I leave tomorrow night so I'm hoping they can do this by Wednesday.. Fingers crossed.

Suggestions
Hey Fellow Cake Thrad followers,
We will be going back to the world in January for my son's birthday. We were just there in October and had a wonderful cake expierince ( for my daughter's birthday) So kknow I am trying to think of some ideas for my son's cake. I was thinking of doing a Star Wars theme but using Mickeys' and Stitch as the star wars characters. Do you think they can make this happen? I will once again be working with Chef Brain but I have not contacted him in regards to this cake yet. Has anyone had a Tron cake done. I would love some ideas my son is turning 7

We are going to be celebrating my son's 2nd birthday, as well as twin cousin's 5th birthday on our trip. There is no way we can afford some of these awesome cakes, but hate to have NO cakes. Has anyone ever bought edible decorations (on etsy, etc.) ahead of time, & added them to one of the standard food court cakes? suggestions? thanks!

I just got a response from Pat via email. She said " Our mini two-tier cakes are 3-inches round for the bottom tier and the top tier
is approximately 1-inch round and is meant for one person. We can recreate this cake for $40. However, these cakes come in chocolate or vanilla. We do not use cake mixes. We can tint the white butter cream icing purple." So... I know some of you have gotten different flavored mini-cakes from Pat.. how did you do it? Edited to add: I emailed her showing a picture of someone's mini-cake and she said that it did not look like a mini-cake, as it was bigger than what they deem a "mini-cake". Maybe this needs to be updated in the first few posts that the GF's mini-cakes are 3inches around on the bottom layer, and 1 inch on top. I did notice this when going through the hundreds of pages of this thread (all three threads), but wasn't for sure. Not sure I even want to do this now as I'm so limited at GF.

Devil's food is not a cake flavor offered anywhere on property. You'll have to do regular chocolate, I'm afraid. The only thing I can think of is to see if she'll let you do chocolate ganache as the filling instead of chocolate mousse - that might make it more dark and fudgy.

Oh, well the GF bakery makes red velvet all the time! It's getting Pat to let you have it that's the trick... Good luck!

Thought you guys might get a kick out of this Wreck-It Ralph cake. It was created by this pastry chef, but I'll bet Disney could do something similar.
