Candlelight is wonderful and really gets you into the Christmas spirit. We've done it for about 8 years or so. The music, the lights, choir, reading all taking place in Town Square. For me it doesn't get better than that. We've also have seen it different ways. We used to pay $$$ to get a seat after a nice dinner but it was harder to do and some years they don't offer that. The past few years we've been standing in front of the fire station or Showcase/Mad Hatter area to view. Your smart going earlier to get photos--it will be a zoo unless rain hits. We always get the "your going again strange look" . If you just don't LOVE DL it may seem like a lot of visits. But hey.....we're Bay Area locals. We're just on the 5 for longer than OCers. ![]() I would be thrilled to BE ABLE to get on 15 rides on two days. We don't come close to that in 4 days....unless you count the Main Street Vehicles. It's really hard with a little mouseketeer. Last edited by VickiHD; 10-30-2012 at 06:17 PM. |

Okay, I already am 40, but if I were to change my name, how would you know it was me?

Thanks for the "food guide" Vicky and Kim. Sounds like Marri's is a must for my pasta meal on Friday evening. I looked at a menu and it is just what I have on mind for that evening in terms of selection and price.
I know some here on the DIS set up WISH meets for the WDW events; are there any such get togethers in CA for thoses races? Sounds like Marri's would be perfect.....

WISH meets are just when a group of people from the WISH section of the boards decide to meet....usually at WDW during a race.
Team WISH, I believe, is a term for the group of people who identify themselves as WISHers-it seems to me to be a very inclusive group. I plan to eat carbs on Friday night as the current belief seems to be that carbo loading 36 hours out has more impact than the night before. Certainly eating pasta the night before won't hurt you, but is more of a tradition than anything else. Truth be told I will likely have leftover pasta Saturday evening as well. Good luck with your running!

Good idea about Marri's !!!! Again, don't let the strip mall atmosphere fool you. I think the food is great, and really nice employees too. |

Okay admittedly this is probably not the best place to ask but I figured you guys may know the answer. Mom's at Disney resort but does not have park tickets (Mom's not a park goer and she's there with a friend's dad for a convention). However she is craving a Mickey ice cream bar. Is it impossible to get one of those bars in the resort without actually entering the parks? Thanks in advance!
Also Mom being the lucky person she is spotted what I think is three of the feral cats sleeking around the parking lot near one of the hotels. Were not 100 percent sure but she did spy three different cats moving in and out between cars in the parking lot. And the only thing I could think of is that they were probably part of Disneyland's feral cat population. I was jealous, I've always wanted to see one of the cats. |

Hope this helps. There are so many cats in and around DL and DCA you will run into them now and then. |

Yeah, I heard about the race. I think it was horrible they waited until 5pm NY time, on Fri, to make the announcement. After they said Fri morning that they were still going to do it and all the international people flying all that way, just one big mess. Now I'm waiting to see what they decide to do for next year, b/c I'm supposed to be a guaranteed entry for next year. This week will definitely be interesting! Have you booked air for Princess yet? Not sure if it works for your weekend or not or compared to SWA, but got an email from Virgin out of SFO and they have flights to MCO for $179, nonstop, leaving around 9:30 or so and getting in around 5:30. And they have tvs in the seats in front of you.

Thanks for the Tink email. That will be interesting to see how they handle all the NYC runners. I wonder if they will make special accomodations and guaranteed entry for next year? Then if so what will happen to runners like you who will also have a spot next year? We booked our flights for Princess months ago when SWA schedule became available. Used points and booking early the $$$ was low out of SFO. Not non-stop but at least we don't have to change planes and a layover. It's going to be a long day regardless. If you see any deals for car rentals please let me know. I not getting any deals at all and I'm using every discount that I can use and I'm still not happy with the quotes I'm getting. |
