I wearing my Captain Hook shirt that I got at the expo in DL. And w/ the new 5am start, the glow in the dark will be perfect. Maybe sleeves if it's cold enough. I have to pick up a black running hat and feather if I can find one at Michael's or something, and if I see a cheap hook hand at Spirit or Party City this month I might pick that up too.

Wonder if they would be at the wine and dive and if I could find someone to shop for me... Hmmmm

As hot as it ended up being that week at the World, I ended up wishing I had bought it just to wear around the parks.

Yes! Online they are out of my size. I do like the Cheshire Cat shirt though. Was it cute in person?
In Texas, I can wear that 10 months out of the year.

And Patty, you can get them on the website, I ordered the Maleficent one (shouldn't have, but loved it ). If it helps any, I got an XL and I'm a D/DD and it fits great. Haven't checked yet if you'll be able to see my sports bra due to the v-neck, but the fit is great. The fabric is really soft and gives well.Just saw your post about being out of stock~ keep checking especially around W & D and Marathon weekend. They might open more stock.

X-Training
Ok, I know that somewhere in my head I already knew this, but MAN what a differnce crosstraining makes in your running!! I'm getting reminded of this the hard way, unfortunately. The bootcamp class I attend went on sort of a hiatus over the summer...everyone just had so much going on that it was hard to have more than a few people consistently each week showing up, so it was hard for our trainer to justify the class...so we decided to take a break. The idea was that we would all keep up with some strength training on our own...ummmmm, yeah. Not so much. I tried, I really did, but I am sorry to say I just wasn't disciplined enough to keep it up, so I just stuck to running 3x per week in training for the ToT 10 miler. Well, I got a little "soft" around the edges, if you know what I mean, and slowed way down...which I attributed mostly to the harsh summer weather here in the south. Well, last night our class regrouped and HOLY CRAP was it an eye opener. I am positive that the heat was only about 50% of the reason my pace slowed so much...the other 50% was from not crosstraining. I'm so disappointed that I've lost so much of what I worked really hard for last year...I feel like I'm at square one again!!!
![]() ![]() (and man, am I SORE today!) I used to be a BEAST at lunges (my trainer's FAVORITE!), and I attributed that to the running I was doing. Well, I was completely wrong!! It was the lunges that were helping me run better. We did a very short exercise last night that incorporated some lunges with a med ball (very tame combo compared to what we used to do) and I thought I was going to DIE. Legs shaking, quads felt like bricks...it was horrible! My awesome classmates were cheering me on to finish the last few and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, it hurt so bad...physically and mentally. I'm hoping I don't forget this feeling and can get my behind in gear and not let this happen again. Learn from me Tinks...crosstrain!!! So, with that...my class is only meeting once a week now and I really would like to throw in another day of some low-impact strength training (hand weights, kettle bells, ab work, etc.). I was wondering if anyone here uses a good strength training video (download or DVD) that they would recommend?

I really like the Jullian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I'ts about 25 min in length with 3 different levels. I swear you will gain "super powers" doing this. Target ususally has a nice selection of JM videos. Hope this helps. |

) I've just been attending my trainer's bootcamp classes...where she gets REALLY creative sometimes...we do a whole mix of exercises, some using just our body weight and sometimes we use hand weights, kettles, ropes, med balls...whatever she decides to pull out of her bag of tricks. Honestly, I have no idea what exercise would replace a lunge that would be safe for your knees, sorry. Maybe wall-sits? Those are fun And don't underestimate the importance of ab/core work. That helps your running tremendously as well and is one of my worst areas...I have a really hard time getting that area strengthened. I was seeing improvements, but all that's gone now that I got lazy

Insanity. That's what I started using, and it is indeed just that...insane! However, I was pretty faithful with it all up to the ToT, and my time still sucked. That heat and humidity was all I feared it was going to be... Going for my first 5-miler since the ToT this morning. I did the castaway cay 5k, and that was an experience unto itself....it POURED!!!! As in take off shoes, pour out water, and squeeze out dripping socks! It did make the last 1/2 mile that much easier, tho...

Im all about cross training. When I was doing p90x and would run, I felt like I was flying! The leg workout was killer but I saw results in my run time.
I have 30day and its crazy- she kills me in those little 20 min workouts. My arms and abs mostly. Not my legs. But I figure core is a biggie for running Have insanity sitting on the counter but can't seem to get into it. Maybe I just need to go for it Yoga and Pilates are also great workouts for runners. Core core core!!! Big help if its strong
