Bummer about your feet, Jess. Hope they are feeling better soon.

Maybe I'll actually get to see you at WDW finally unless you are doing Spring Dash or the Coeur d'Alene Half?

I will probably sign up for the 5K and the full. I don't want to do Goofy again just yet. I'd rather scream team and/or volunteer for the half.

I'll be doing the full and should be down to cheer for half as well. Will know more specifics as it gets closer.

I ran a 1/2 the weekend I got home from Disney, and while my time was my slowest non-disney (AKA non playing/ excessive picture taking) 1/2 to date, I finished without too much trouble. I'm sure you'll be fine with Tink. I wish I had that kind of money to do both next year! I'll be lucky to take monday off after the marathon!

I actually doubt that I'll be able to take Monday off...especially if I go down Thursday for the 5k on Friday. Most likely, I'll probably 'only' do Goofy and Tink. As for the money...well, that's why they make bonuses ;-)

Completed:
Boston Run to Remember 1/2 (5/29/11) - 2:35:11 (don't judge...I didn't train! But I hit the turnaround at 1:04:14!); JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge (6/2/11) - 36:38 (3.5 miles through downtown Boston with 12,000 of my closest friends); BAA 10k (6/26/11) - 1:04:52 (not my best...I hate excuses, but I kicked the heavy bag in my boxing class for the first time the day before. I fear that had a much bigger impact than I initially thought it would.); Tavern to Tavern 5k (9/4/11, rescheduled from 8/28/11) - 31:08 (ugh. I REALLY need to learn to run outside occasionally.); Tufts 10k for Women (10/10/11) - 1:06:53 (why????); 5k4Life Road Race (11/6/11) - 28:23!!!!! (Best TM time? 28:20!); Somerville Jingle Bell Run (12/18/11) - 29:40 (not bad considering it was 21 degrees out!)
Disney Princess 1/2 (2/26/12) - 2:37:12 (wait, WHAT??? HOW??? WHY??? )
Historic Quincy Half Marathon (3/18/12) - 2:16:26!!!!!!!!
BAA 5k (4/15/12) - 29:24 (not bad....)
Nashville Rock 'n' Roll (4/28/12) - 2:28:32 (someone told me that there was only one hill...she didn't mention that it was 13.1 miles long)
Boston's Run to Remember (5/27/12) - 2:26:31 (pretty good improvement!)
BAA 10k (6/24/12) - 1:05:56 (ugh...why can't I improve on my 10k time???)
Providence Rock 'n' Roll (8/19/12) - 2:33:10 (so THIS is what happens when one doesn't run or workout at all for 2 months...interesting)

"Get over there and kick with her...she'd rather throw up and pass out before she quits." My boxing instructor about me

Upcoming (Registered):
Disneyland Half (9/2/12), Philadelphia Rock 'n' Roll (9/16/12), Merrell Down & Dirty 10k (9/30/12), BAA Half Marathon (10/7/12), Tufts 10k for Women (10/8/12), and NY Rock 'n' Roll 10k (10/13/12)

Upcoming (Planned):
Grete's Great Gallop Half Marathon (10/14/12) and Brooklyn Marathon (ack!) (11/18/12)

I am going for 5k. I have never exercised or ran before. Maybe I can work up to 1/2 for 2014! My daughter in law will run the 1/2 .

I'm anticipating the 5k and the 1/2. It'll be my second 1/2 after the Wine and Dine in November. I've been a few times during marathon weekend, which motivated me to do it, so I'm really excited to be a participant!

I started... wow, 1 year ago today with running. I started my plan on 3/22/11. I started with the Couch 2 5K program. I then moved onto a program called Bridge 2 10K and finally went into Hal Higdon's Novice 1/2 Marathon training.

I basically did the C25K program twice. I originally started only on the treadmill. My treadmill-o-doom broke down forcing me to finally go outside and do this training. I found out running on pavement and sidewalks is MUCH different than the treadmill. So I started over at week 3 of the C25k Program after I had gotten to week 7 on the treadmill.

That's not to say that was just 7 weeks, I had re-done weeks during that time period, as I had also not been exercising and was in terrible shape. My first time with C25K, I couldn't even do all of the run segments, I had to walk most of them. So I repeated weeks as I needed to until I was comfortable with progressing onto the next week in the schedule.

I "ran" the 2012 Walt Disney World Half Marathon, in 3:48:49.

If you wish to see more details of my journey, I have a link to my Blog in my signature.

Similar to Kipp, I started running last March/April and trained through until this January, when I participated in the WDW Marathon Weekend. I ran both the 5K and the Half. Before last March, I had never even considered running.

If you want to run the Half in 2013, I believe you can achieve that goal if you work out a good training plan, and take it nice and easy to avoid injury. Definitely get a good book, either by Hal Higdon or John Bingham or Jeff Galloway to help you learn about the various aspects of the sport.

And hang out here on the Disboards. There are wonderful, supportive, and knowledgeable folks here that can help you along your journey.

Have fun!

I'm seriously considering training for the 2013 Full. Did my first half at this year's Princess and LOVED it! I can't wait to run another Disney race. I'll be doing my second half in April, that is if my shin and calf stop hurting. Can't wait to learn more about the full.

Heading to WDW in Jan 2013 for my first 5K. Two good friends are joining me for the race and "girl's weekend". We decided this seems like a good year to do good things for ourselves!

Just registered for my first full in October. DH will be doing his first half then too. I am using the Hal Higdon Novice 2 plan to train, will have to change it up for the Goofy though. I know I have read there are Goofy training plans, can someone point me in the right direction for that? Thanks

I think once registration opens they will have plans on the Disney running site. The plans are done through Jeff Galloway. I remember someone talking about 10 and 20 mile Sat. and Sun. runs. Sounds like fun.
