Just a thought - wouldn't leaving Boston at 4AM put you in the heart of the NYC morning rush?

Getting out of town just in time it seems ahead of the blizzard. The plan all along was to leave at midnight tonight and stay over in Jacksonville tomorrow night. But it looks like if we leave at around 8pm tonight, we could drive in less or even NO rain, according to the hourly weather forecasts this morning for the I-95 corridor.
Would rather leave earlier and miss most, if not all of the rain. I think Daddy will get a nice nap in this afternoon and pack the car nice and early so we can leave around bedtime for the boys. And Grandpa had better send the plow guy while we are gone!!! |

I know this is somewhere in this thread but I just can't read it all.
We are driving from MA. What are the other routes besides I-95? Is stopping in NC probably the best place/ halfway point to stop for the night? We've never driven all the way to WDW. We have drove as far as Charleston SC though. I'm pretty sure we only drove I 95 that time. Thanks for your help. We are leaving next week.

Need some sound advice from those well traveled.
We've driven several times before but it was always for a stay of at least 6 nights. Our original plan this time was for a 6-night stay but may have to cut it short one night. Do you think it's crazy to drive 2200 miles R/T for 5 nights in Disney? It just doesn't seem long enough. Thanks! |

Thanks!
Reading these posts has made me feel so much better about our upcoming trip. We are driving from Minneapolis to wdw for spring break..... And I hate to drive.
Airfare is just too much for us though, it would put the trip out of reach. So... I am focusing on the positive ($, having room to pack food and extras, having a car so we can easily get to HP world too, etc). Hopefully it will also turn out to be a fun adventure!

[official sounding drum roll]
A four-night stay has been determined several years ago on this thread as the time frame that allows veteran WDW travelers to either drive the 2,000+ mile round-trip journey or fly without feeling guilty about their status as members of this marathon-drivers DISboards group. The number of days driving should never be equal to or greater than the number of nights spent at WDW. ![]() And that drive home will seem particularly long after short a relatively short stay. The creator of this thread even flew to WDW for a four-night stay last August. ![]() [end of official sounding drum roll] All the best.

We are in nh. Generally we go 91 to 84 to the ny thruway. Cut down to the garden state in nj and cut over to 95. Then 95 the whole way. This way we avoid nyc traffic.
Once due to traffic jams from west springfield to nyc we took the mass pike to the ny thruway and then south. During the warmer months we have also gone 84 out to pa. I always forget the route numbers. Its a nice drive and then we cut back towards 95 around dc. As for where to stop it totally depends on you. I have made it alone all the way to md for the night. Mostly we leave at dinner time and drive through to ga the next day. Spend the night and then the last few hours in the morning ready to hit the parks for lunch.
