Thank you for posting the questions about the photographers and palo. I had asked ifit was ok to bring photographers and shanda said yes but it is good to hear that they should meet the onboard coordinator. Also im a bit dissapointed that we can not get everyoneinto palo for the wedding night dinner. We do have 4 children in our group and some non essential non family members that are guests due to the request of parents, so i am hoping we can cut our number down to 14.

Awesome idea with the storyboard! I didn't even think about doing that and boy would it have made things easier! Looks like your planning is coming along well now!

Glad to share the information To the fairness of other cruise guests, I understand why they have rules concerning the booking of Palo, but it's a bit of a bummer. It's an outstanding restaurant, and would be perfect for a post-wedding dinner. Hopefully, we can get the private room for the night before though, and I'm sure the main restaurant will be lots of fun.

Thanks Meaghan!! I'm still in very early days of planning, but it feels good to be starting to make plans. It'll be easier when I move back to the States, and can go dress shopping, visit with the photographer, decide on flowers, etc. Till then, I just visit blogs and pintrest, ooh and ahh, and accumulate ideas on my computer that I like

Dessert Party Update

Bit of exciting news in my life... Yesterday, I took my last exam of vet school!!! I have to wait a week to get my results before I can officially say I've finished, but it's exciting to at least be done with all the school work for now

Wedding wise, we have 15 staterooms booked now!! Very exciting! There's still a few people left who still need to book, but I anticipate final numbers being somewhere around 35-40. Nice sized group =)

I also heard from a DFTW planner regarding the possibility of having a DP as a welcome party. Unfortunately, the date I would like to hold the event (Sat October 27, 2012) is not available to Illuminations DP. The Food and Wine Festival has every Sat booked, so a DP there is out. That narrows the possibilities a bit, but I'm not really disappointed... I liked the idea of a Fantasmic DP best anyways

Officially, DCL brides are not able to book an ancillary event with WDW until 8 months from the actual cruise date. Therefore, the planner will contact me again on Feb 21, 2012 to discuss what the options available would be. So it's a little ways away before I know if a DP will be a part of our wedding celebrations, but I guess it'll give me time to save up and decide if a DP is truly what I'd like to do.

Congrats on vet school! Wow! I have a friend who went down there to go to nursing school and she absolutely loves Australia! Looks like you'll be getting back to the states just before I leave them.

Can't wait to hear more once you really get into planning mode!

Graduation!

This is a wedding-unrelated post, but I thought I'd share the news that I graduated the other day!! I'm officially a veterinarian!! Yay!

Me before the graduate dinner with my certificate of completion (diploma to be mailed later)

With all the craziness of graduating and moving, it's been a bit slow on the wedding planning front lately. I apologise for the boring PJ, but once I get moved back to the US, I should have some updates. Hope everyone's wedding planning is going well!!

Thats awesome that you are done. I just took my written final for my second to last semester of Paramedic. It is a pass/fail test. Even though i have an A overall i can fail the semester on that one test. It is a relief to be done. Looking forward to more of your journal.

Thanks for the well-wishes, William and Meaghan!

It's very exciting, but more than anything, a relief to finally be done. It took me 8.5 years of university to complete--4 years for bachelors degree in biology/pre-vet in the States + 4.5 years of vet school in Australia (Vet school in the US is 4 years of bachelor + 4 years of vet school). The veterinary course in Australia is a little different from the States. It's only 6 years total, and Aussie students generally go into it straight from graduating high school. As I had already completed a bachelors degree when I applied, I got advanced standing so that I only needed to do another 4.5 years. The degree is also recognized in the US, UK, and some parts of Asia, so it allows me to travel easily if I choose.

I ended up applying to vet schools in Australia instead of the US because I wanted a unique experience and to be closer to DF. It's been a wonderful 4.5 years. Australia is such a gorgeous country, and the Aussies have such carefree and warm personalities. I'm really going to miss this place, but I know we'll be back in the future. It's a long flight (over 24 hours usually including layovers), but it's well worth the travel to come if you've never been here

Congratulations on the engagement & on becoming a vet.

A DP before you cruise sounds like a great idea for everyone to meet and could also sort of act as your wedding meal if you can't all be together in Palo on your actual wedding day.

Thanks so much, Lisa, Faye and Claire!! It's a wonderful feeling to be done. I really look forward to entering a profession I love, and hopefully making a positive contribution to the field. In the meantime, I'm stuck packing, which is something I most definitely do not love... It's amazing how much stuff you accumulate in 4.5 years Sigh....

I've been procrastinating this morning, however, with reading your PJs/TRs. It's so nice to get lost in the world of weddings Thanks so much to you ladies for sharing your plans +/- wedding experiences! I hope my wedding is as nice as yours will be/was!!

Ah, Ginger! I love your PJ so far! Yours is only a little over a month later than my DCL wedding, so I'm enjoying sharing the same excitement and concerns in real time! I ADORE the idea of you having the Dessert Party! Too bad about Epcot, but it's SO crazy busy during F&W festival!

I actually work f&b at DHS and on and off at F! Just tonight there was a private party being held, and I've always loved watching how different each event is. Some formal, some casual. Just tonight, they had centerpieces that glowed and everybody had multi-colored glow bracelets and necklaces...It looked fun! You get 90 minutes of celebration time in your own nook of the Hollywood Hills Ampitheater, there's ops CM's who escort you up a private backstage stairwell so you don't get smushed or separated in the massive crowds, you have plenty of space to roam and mingle, and you have a good view of the show. Of course, sharing that with your closest friends and family would make it even better! What a great idea to say "Thanks" to everybody for making it out to celebrate your wedding! I hope it all works out and I'm so excited for you!

And congrats on finishing Vet school! How exciting! You worked very hard for very long and you deserve that little piece of paper that says you graduated! So jealous of your Australian adventures, and I hope I can visit someday!

I look forward to reading more of your planning, and I hope you enjoy my PJ too!
