Don't really know.... we're going on the Oasis for the 1st time for Thanksgiving and don't even go to the signature restaurants. I know the speciality restaurants on the Oasis are Chops Grille, 150 Central Park, Giovanni's Table, Izumi and many others that charge and don't charge.

Guess we'll have to wait for nenner1 to answer - hint, hint! Come back!

We've been on the Magic and Wonder each a couple of times, the Dream and have the Fantasy booked. I do love Disney, but sometimes we like to venture out and try something new instead of the same thing over and over again. Our 10-night on the Emerald Princess last year was fantastic!

LOL life has been kicking me in the butt! I know, I know. No excuses.

Trying to get back in the swing of things, I usually do a lot of my writing at work on break but lately I have been falling asleep- literally- face in screen, chin in elbow. It's been hard- ever since they took away the TV in our break room it's been so quiet in there and at 3 AM...well....

Plus the stuff for my next segment is quite scattered. Totally my fault for not taking pictures cohesively but the daunting task of searching through like 4,000 pics has been weighing on me a bit. LOL!

Hey the good news is MY CAMERA IS WORKING AGAIN! It nearly got washed out to sea in St. Maarten and now it is back from the dead! Stay tuned for that story, I should get to it in like...January.

Ok, enough stalling. I'm going pic trolling now, see you all shortly..I promise this time.

A Knight to Remember

Is the Boardwalk not beautiful at night all lit up?

After Rita’s we took a spin on the carousel and stopped to meet Alex the Lion from Madagascar. He took a liking to Savannah’s sombrero and did not want to give it back!

The carousel is free and rarely had a line! Hop on a be a kid again!!!

Video of our first ride- click to play!

The girls loved the “cats” and could ride them all day:

You also may recognize the Zoltar fortune-telling arcade machine featured in the movie “Big”. He costs $1 for a fortune. Be very careful if you have little ones, Sarah figured out how to swipe her Seapass on Zoltar and would try to do that every time we walked by. I was disappointed that he did not breathe heavy and a quarter does not roll into his gaping mouth like in the movie, ah well. Also he does not work unplugged.

On our way back to the rooms, we stopped into Adventure Ocean to register the kids. The first evening at AO is an open house/registration- they are not actually open for childcare/sitting the first evening! Keep that in mind if you wanted to try to make a specialty restaurant, comedy show, or Chicago reservation for the first evening and you have kids!

Registration is simply filling out some paperwork. Pre-registration for the clubs is done online, but there is more to complete when you do arrive onboard. They will also issue you a dect phone (cell phone that works on the ship) for the AO staff to be able to call you should there be a reason to contact you while your child is in their care. We kept ours on, and were told if the battery gets low to bring it back and exchange it but when the battery did die and we took it back, they gave us a charger to use for it. It has to be turned in by 10 PM on the last night of the cruise to avoid a charge.

Adventure Ocean facilities on this ship are awesome! Sit back, relax, and get ready for kids club overload. Hopefully this answers most of the questions about the Adventure Ocean area and facilities on Allure. I will have more detail on our specific experiences later.

The kids’ club (known as Adventure Ocean) for ages 11 and under encompasses a large are of real estate on Deck 14 forward. The "Youth Zone" neighborhood spans more than 28,700 square feet, and includes the Kids Avenue, a central boulevard housing dedicated Adventure Ocean spaces and themed play areas; the cruise line's Royal babies and Tots nursery for infants and toddlers (six months or older); and a teen area that will keep the moodiest of cruisers happily distanced from annoying younger kids. The Youth Zone is the largest kids' facility afloat, some 4,000 square feet larger than the spaces on RCI's Freedom-class trio of ships, the current title holders.

The Kids Avenue entrance hall:

There is a lot of space here for other members of the family to wait while one parent drops off and picks up without clogging up the small entrance areas to each club room. There is pleasant kids’ music playing and I rather like the “moving” murals on the walls of flying pigs.

When Pigs Fly (video: click to play)

The Kids Avenue serves as the main promenade for cruisers between the ages of 3 and 11 to access the various Adventure Ocean areas. Building on its already-established program, RCCL offers arts and crafts activities, scavenger hunts, talent shows and other scheduled and guided age-specific activities to three Adventure Ocean program age groups, each with its own space: Aquanauts, 3 to 5; Explorers, 6 to 8; and Voyagers, 9 to 11. Royal Babies and Tots nursery is also in its’ own secluded room here and the fees for using the nursery are $8/hour.

The Royal Babies and Tots Nursery:

Like I mentioned above, each age division had its’ own room with activities and features geared towards kids of those age ranges. the most part the kids stayed in the appropriate rooms, although occasionally we found the 6-8 and the 9-11 ages together.

The Aquanauts (ages 3-5) room:

The slide Sarah loved:

See Her Go! (Video-Click to Play)

To attend the Aquanauts club children must be 3 years of age by the first day of the cruise and then must be fully potty trained. (no pull-ups or diapers allowed here). I will say that Sarah had a potty accident once during her time in the club and it was handled excellently by the staff. More on that later.

A Knight to Remember (Part 2)

In addition to the dedicated spaces for each of the three age groups, Allure of the Seas also features several common play areas on the Kids Avenue. The incredible size of the ship -- some 40 percent larger than Royal Caribbean's Freedom-class trio, the former largest cruise ships in the world -- allows for these new purpose-built spaces. The Adventure Ocean Theater is the first-ever theater at sea just for kids, complete with a stage and curtains, audience seating (for parents) and state-of-the-art production equipment. Kids can take drama classes, and overcome their fear of stage fright in talent shows and theatrical productions.

Adventure Ocean Theater:

In a twist on adult-oriented enrichment trends, RCCL introduced on Oasis and Allure some new-for-kids classes in the Workshop, including creating scrapbooks and designing jewelry. As well, the line also has expanded existing programs as part of its Imagination Studio; kids can experiment with coloring (in a program created by Crayola).

The Imagination Studio area for crafts: (sorry about the through the glass pic, the door was locked)

The Adventure Science Lab, a fully-equipped lab, is the place for conducting those delightfully rudimentary science experiments (baking soda volcano). "Play" is a circular area where the more active kids can participate in a variety of sports and games (indoor soccer, team building sports, etc.); and the Kid's Arcade is a dedicated arcade space just for the under 12's.

The Science Lab

The unstaffed “Play” room (open 9 AM-8PM) just full of toys and games for preschoolers and toddlers. And you can check out a bag of Fisher Price toys for your child to play with for the duration of the cruise (we meant to do this, but never got around to it!)

To give you a visual of the setup, it is arranged in Hub-and Spoke fashion just like WDW. The Kids Avenue entry Hall is like Main St, USA; Play is in the central hub (AKA Cinderella Castle), The nursery is first to the left (Tomorrowland), and the Aquanauts 3-5 are in the back left (Toon Town). Going right from the hub, you reach the Theater (Adventureland) then The Voyagers 9-11 (Frontierland) and then finally the Explorers Roon (6-8) in the back right (Fantasyland). Hows that for a fun comparison!

For the teens, Royal Caribbean staples Fuel and The Living Room are back on Allure of the Seas. Located on Deck 15 aft, the The Living Room (hangout space) boasts a "mocktail" bar offering alcohol-free concoctions; Scratch DJ 101 classes, where kids can learn to spin crazy beats; and a bank of computer stations for surfing the Web.

Fuel is a disco and hang out space with a dance floor. An outdoor deck space -- for open-air teenage mingling -- is adjacent to these teen spaces.

For those looking for tips for the Teen experience, it is an absolute MUST to attend meet and greet on the first night in order to make friends for the cruise. Attending the 2nd night as well is a must to get to know your fellow teens better. It will make the teen experience so much better! Also though ages 12 through 17 are all “together” in the teen club as a whole, 12-14 year old activities are similar, but at different times to avoid interaction with the 15-17 year old group.

After stopping by to register for the clubs, the kids wanted to go for a swim, so we headed up to the pool deck. There was a lot of cleaning and maintenance going on. In fact the Starboard cantilevered hot tub was undergoing refurbishment and was out of service for our entire cruise.

I love, love, love the pool deck at night!

The kids had fun swimming and made some new friends with other kids up in the pool that they would spend a lot of time with in the clubs as the week progressed.

The cantilevered hot tub is not located inside the Solarium, and was totally empty! Score! LOVE the addition of the flat screen TV’s so we could watch Sunday Night Football. One thing that was interesting to us- no scrolling scores at the bottom of the screen on this strange international ESPN channel. We had to wait forever to hear who won the Bucs game. Love the gorgeous color changing twinkle lights and the open air ceiling.

See how they're looking down? The whole hot tub juts out from the side of the ship- the view straight down is to the ocean below!

After the nice swim and soak we retreated to the rooms to get unpacked and rest up for the next big day in port at Nassau.
