Surly is Good!
This has been one of my favorites over the past year.
Furious A tempest on the tongue, or a moment of pure hop bliss? Brewed with a dazzling blend of American hops and Scottish malt, this crimson-hued ale delivers waves of citrus, pine and caramel-toffee. For those who favor flavor, Furious has the hop-fire your taste buds have been screeching for. STYLE: American India Pale Ale MALT: Pale Ale, Golden Promise, Aromatic, Medium Crystal, Roasted Barley HOPS: Warrior, Ahtanum, Simcoe, Amarillo YEAST: English Ale OG: 15º Plato ABV: 6.5% v/v COLOR: 27 ºSRM IBU: 99 AVAILABILITY: Cans and Kegs Year Round

Just found this thread, ironically right after bottling my first batch in nearly 5 years. Hopefully a good Pale Ale. All I need now is a good name for my brews. Would Brewinator be evil or ironic or just explode?

This was in the bIrth day card I received today:
The pessimist says, "the glass is half empty." The Optimist says, "the glass is half full." I say, "just make sure it's beer in there!"

Ehhhh....not to sure yet, but love the label!
![]() Beer: Arrogant Ba$tard Ale Brewery: Stone Brewery ALC 7.2% Label on the bottle This is an aggressive ale. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory–maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made in a little brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless fizzy yellow beverage will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multi-million dollar ad campaigns make things taste better. Perhaps you’re mouthing your words as you read this.

I love that this thread exists.
I'm a beer nerd and have been wanting to start brewing my own for a while. haven't taken the plunge yet. My bro got me a ton of craft beer for christmas. I'll finally get to try dogfish head 120. Saving it for a special occasion. I was hoping a Packer Super Bowl.

It looks like most of the brewers here use good stainless kettles and fermenting tanks. I feel a little out of place but I have used a Mr. Beer keg for a couple of batches and they came out well. The pre-made wort helps and I have a perfect cabinet to store the keg for fermenting.
The great thing about Texas is we have Shiner, if you like German style lagers and ales they are the best (you can get free samples at the brewery). Also i live in Austin and there are several home-brew groups here in town that have regular meet and drinks, along with a ton of resturants that have there own made on site brands. |
