Does anyone.....
know what this is??? I live in South Jersey and I have a few of them on my trees in the backyard.
I do not ever remember seeing these before. Maybe I just never paid attention. I was going to take it off and step on it but I was skeered of what might come out of it! ![]() ![]() Thanks.

Oh well. A friend helped me out. It is an "Oak gall". aka wasp nest.
I never saw them at this stage, I usually see them when they have reached a brown color and get all shriveled up- I assume that is after the wasps have left the gall. They do not harm trees.
