First week in Oct.

I just found your site, and going to Disney World Oct 3-10. I have read that is a decent time to go from a crowd standpoint?? Can anyone give me an idea what low crowd means?

for the popular rides can I expect to wait 1hr? 30,20,10 or less minutes? and that is assuming not using the fast pass.

Also it looks like weather will be mid 80s? does that sound right?

Any other advice to offer for this time like MNSSHP or the food festival?

Thanks for helping a new member
Justin

IT is a really good time to go and what I've read its the best time to go with regards to crowd level. We've always gone in October (except this year where we'll be going tomorrow )and normally see times for Tower of Terror with 10 minutes, Rockin Rollercoaster at 20-30 minutes, Everest 20-30 minutes. Toy Storia Mania is always crazy and unless you get there at rope drop is 60 minutes.

Certainly go to MNSSHP...its aways one of the things I look forward to the most. So much I think if I went at any other time of the year I'd be disappointed that it wouldn't be going on.

Temperature wise it will be hot. We went the last week in October last year and it was record high temperatures pretty much every day...91-94 and very humid.

We went the first week of October last year for our honeymoon (Oct. 5-10) and we thought we'd have low crowds...however it was PACKED! We are locals and are used to the heat, but we experienced a crazy heat wave last year during that time as well. It really was a fluke weather change and not something to be expected for that time of year, but anything can happen. Even though the crowds were large, we still did everything we wanted to do. It definitely wasn't crowded like Christmas crowded, but it was busy. I think Free Dining has a lot to do with it. One thing I learned is not to be intimidated the crowds - being local we often wouldn't even bother to visit during certain times of the year. However, now that we've experienced it, we know it's different, but not really a big deal. You'll still have a great time!!

Thanks for the info. I have heard it is good for crowds but I never knew what that meant! I plan on spending one day in each park and was hoping to do most of the things, we have no kids so luckily none of the popular little kids ride.

does that sound reasonable to you experts?

Also which water park do you think is the best?

Lastly, We are two adults who don't enjoy dressing up for Halloween, do you still recommend MNSSHP?

we went the 30th of september to the 7th last year. it was great crowd wise! i was stunned when we only stood in line for soarin' for 30 minutes. we've been in feb, april and march before and waited hrs for rides. soarin' was probably the longest we waited. perhaps we just hit the rite parks on the rite days.

we were also in that heat wave- yuck! on the 6th, our last daya cm told us it had hit 110 that day. insane! we were literally pealing the kids off us. gross.

we prefer tl over bb. tl has the shark reef, great fun! and the wave pool. love it! bb to me wasn't as great for some reason. enjoy!

I went the first week of October 2008, and the weather was in the 80's, the crowds were a medium low level, waits max were 30min. As far as MNSSHP, yes def go, me and my DF do not dress up either, but love the parade, fireworks, and low crowds.

As for water park, we prefer Typhoon Lagoon, but it is a bit of a slower paced park. While BB is more fast paced, with more thrill slides.

Just an FYI, there is a race going on the weekend that you get there so it might be more crowded for the first couple of days. Do NOT do the MNSSHP on Sunday the 3rd, that's the night that all of the 5K participants have a free ticket so I'm sure it will be extra busy that night. I like the MNSSHP better than the Christmas one, the parade is way cooler at the Haloween one.

OK so it sounds like budget allowing we will do the MNSSHP, thanks for the advice! And crowd wise thanks for all that info but keep them coming if you have any more opinions.

The wife and I usually do parks with a back pack, if we walk around with them can we take them on most rides or is there a place to leave them while boarding a ride? we would rather not pay for a locker if possible.

Fantasmic! is included in park admission for HS right? And from what I hear it is a must do, everyone agree about that?
