INTRODUCTION:

Well, I’d better kick off this Group PTR before my fellow “cast members” burst from excitement!

I’ll start with the absolute basics and let the others join in…

WHO: Essentially we are moms with kids on the AUTISM SPECTRUM who love to hang out on the Trip Report Boards. Needless to say, we’re all crazy about Walt Disney World and the Magic it has brought into our lives.

My name is KATHY and I’ll be the one posting in Blue!

I’ve been married to ED for fifteen years. Our daughter Tricia is 14yrs old and our son Billy is twelve. He was diagnosed with PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder) at age three and with AUTISM at age five.

WHAT: This will be a MOMS-ONLY trip!

WHEN: Thursday, January 20 – Sunday, January 23

WHERE: We’ll be staying at SARATOGA SPRINGS RESORT & SPA.

WHY: We’re getting together at our mutual Happy Place for a weekend of fun, friendship and sharing. Most of us have never met in person!

Okay, Gang! Let’s get this party started!!

I think I know at least one spectrum mom on board besides you. You guys will have a blast!!!

I'll be posting in purple!

I've been married to my DH, Tim, for almost 14 years and we have two boys, Alex, 9 & Zach, 6. Alex was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at 2 and Zach was just diagnosed with Aspergers this summer.

I'm so excited to join Kathy & the other spectrum moms for our weekend getaway!

Well, I'm Spectrum mom #3 aka irishdancer and I'll be posting in turquoise.

I've been married to DH for 15yrs and we have 3 kids. Daniel was diagnosed PDD-NOS/ASD at age 5. We also have two girls Mairead 13yrs and Deirdre one week shy of 9yrs.

I can't wait for this trip! I think we're going to have so much fun at our "Happy Place".

It's also going to be great to add a new ticker.

Hi there!

I'm Tracy, aka Mickey_Mom and I'll be posting in pink. My wonderful husband and I have been married 16 years this October and we have three beautiful children..... two sons, Alex-15 and Demetri-5 and a daughter, Ariana, who will be 14 this September. Ariana was diagnosed with autism at the age of three (and her favorite color is pink!).

I am thrilled to be joining these fellow spectrum mom's and very excited to be taking on the World!

I am not sure how I managed to be first, but I tell you what -- my heart was racing while I was posting hoping to be first! Look where my life has taken me -- excited to be the first to post on a message board. I have to tell you. It totally made me feel giddy to know I did it!

So how long has this been in the works?

Plans came together recently, we've been plotting for the past week or so!
Our family trip got bumped out until 12/11, so this was my "consolation prize!"

(I think Ed agreed only to keep me relatively sane!) :laughing

It will be wonderful to get away and just be yourselves - not mom or wife or PTA person or teacher or nurse or whatever else you do out here in the real world. Just go and relax and have fun and be you, and in the process develop some special friendships. Sounds awesome to me!

And some Florida sunshine in the middle of winter sounds lovely, too.

OK...little late to the party here

I'm Spectrum Mom #5 aka MouseScrapper or just Scrappie or Julie

I have some more name too....

I'll be posting in Green and I am the one busting at the seems for this trip...kind of funny I was the last Mom to introduce myself....

For those of you who don't know me or my family yet...here is a picture of us from our last trip to WDW:

I've been married to my DH (Matt) for 14 yrs and we have 4 children. Naomi-Ruth (going on 4), Rachel (going on 8), and twins (11) Nathan and Rebekah.

Nathan and Rebekah are both on the Spectrum and have ADHD. Nathan has struggled since age 3, but was not diagnosed w/ Aspergers till age 8. Rebekah (or Bekah) was just recently diagnosed last yr w/ PDD-NOS.

as well my youngest Naomi-Ruth has been treated for a significant speech delay and attends pre-school based on need for social speech & anxiety.

I first found the boards when planning our June 2008 trip and Kathy and Amy were two of the first Disers I met and we instantly become close ...these ladies have been my Autism support group really from the start...

Anne Marie and I are lucky enough to live just a few towns apart and have mini Dis-meets every few months.

Tracy and I have met through our "fearless leader" Kathy...and have instantly bonded.

I am so excited to be part of this trip and can't wait!

I'll be posting in Green and I am the one busting at the seems for this trip...kind of funny I was the last Mom to introduce myself.... For those of you who don't know me or my family yet...here is a picture of us from our last trip to WDW: I've been married to my DH (Matt) for 14 yrs and we have 4 children. Naomi-Ruth (going on 4), Rachel (going on 8), and twins (11) Nathan and Rebekah. Nathan and Rebekah are both on the Spectrum and have ADHD. Nathan has struggled since age 3, but was not diagnosed w/ Aspergers till age 8. Rebekah (or Bekah) was just recently diagnosed last yr w/ PDD-NOS. as well my youngest Naomi-Ruth has been treated for a significant speech delay and attends pre-school based on need for social speech & anxiety. I first found the boards when planning our June 2008 trip and Kathy and Amy were two of the first Disers I met and we instantly become close ...these ladies have been my Autism support group really from the start... Anne Marie and I are lucky enough to live just a few towns apart and have mini Dis-meets every few months. Tracy and I have met through our "fearless leader" Kathy...and have instantly bonded.
