We're so excited! Our family returns to Fort Wilderness in two motorhomes in less than three months!! We're hoping someone can recommend a good spot to stop for a couple hours of sleep on I-75 midway through Kentucky or so?? We'll be leaving Michigan around 5:00 p.m., so we'll probably want to pullover and rest around 2:00 a.m. until daylight before we hit the mountains in Tennessee. We won't want to go too far from the freeway, but we'd like someplace safe.

By boondocking I am assuming you mean a Wallyworld or someplace similar. We have used the Walmart in Dry Ridge, Ky before, it is safe and close to the freeway, although I am not sure if it will meet your requirements since I don't know where in Michigan you will be leaving from.
There is a Walmart in Knoxville that we use on the way home that is a good spot but not sure if you want to try and make it that far. Let me know if you need anything more specific.

There's a Wal-Mart in Berea, right off the X-way and a FLYING-J in Corbin. There is also a Wal-Mart in Williamsburg KY about 10 miles N of TN line.
Renfro Valley also has a campground right off the X-Way. They would have elec and it's only $18.00. That would be my preference. Last edited by mnsprk; 01-06-2011 at 07:56 PM. Reason: add info |

We were not considering a campground because we'd be stopping at 2:00 a.m. or so and didn't know if we could arrive at that time. Do you think Renfro Valley would accept us at that hour of the morning? We would need two BIG pull throughs because each of us are towing. Do you usually call ahead to the Walmart to make sure it's okay? We really only need two or three hours of sleep since we rotate drivers anyway. We plan on arriving at the KOA on the border of Georgia and Florida by mid-afternoon the next day.

I think there is someone there 24 hrs since they have their own Motel there as well. Here is their number since we use them regularly. 800-765-7464.
They do have numerous pull thru's. Not sure about Wal-Mart never stayed at one, just shopped there. |

We like Flying J They are rv friendly. Cracker Barrel also allows over night parking. You can check the web site. Some Walmarts allow over night parking. There is a yahoo group walmartrving that has a list of walmarts that have over night parking.
