Got my g/f a Kindle 2 for x-mas. She reads a lot of books and loves anything electronic so I know she will be thrilled to receive one.

Thank you for all your feedback. I've decided to get a Kindle. Only bad thing is I can't have it till Christmas.

You won't be sorry with a Kindle!! Love mine. I did a ton of research, but after "field testing" the Sony, I knew the Kindle was the one. Make sure you get a good case. I like the M-Edge Platform. It boggles my mind how people will pay $250 for a gadget but not spend $25 on a good protective case! And the M-Edge reading light is great too. Enjoy!!

Definitely a case.

Or even a bubble wrap sleeve! Just something.

And for anyone who takes baths and reads...put it in a nice big zip-top plastic bag. I'd say ziplok, but I've been using the other brand, the pink one, can't remember the name. Nice to have the plastic just in case!

More concerning Free books on Kindle:

The blog I cited in an earlier post (http://ilmk.wordpress.com/) reported yesterday that there is currently close to 20,000 free ebooks on Amazon for the Kindle.
