I have Tink. My DH has a generic gray one. You can call and get a different style (non-character) for your DH. The cards don't have to be the same one.

From July-Sept and then again in Oct-Dec we were offered a special 5x bonus for the purchases made in the categories of travel, dining, groceries, and one other area. We will get the bonus points at the end of each 3 month period.
We put everything on our card and just pay it off at the end of every month. We went to Disneyland in July and had just over $200 to spend, and when we go again in Jan. we should have around $400 since we get the 5x bonus.

We get discounts while we are at the world as well.

Since we pay it off each month it has worked out for us.

They don't offer that special to everyone. My mom got the offer. I didn't. I wondered if it is b/c I already charge EVERYTHING (and pay it off each mont). My parents only use theirs as a business card, so they don't charge a lot on it. I was SO envious they got the offer!

i got the 5 x thing on my card and i use it for everything, and i mean everything. i also pay it off every month so the interest rate doesn't matter much. there are cards with more incentatives but the disney one is just to darn cute. and they are easy to convert over to spend them.

I'd definitely recommend this card. I took it out initially for the 0 percent promotion on balance transfers and continue to use it as my main credit card. While interest rates have gone up recently (5.99% to 12.99%), it hardly matters if you pay it off in full each month as I do.
There are many benefits to the card including the 0 percent interest for six months on Disney Vacation packages, special character Meet and Greet with free photo at Epcot, discounts on tours and certain merchandise.
And while the 1 percent rewards on purchases doesn't seem much, Chase does offer many promotions for 5X rewards. I am now receiving my fourth three-month promotion since I got the card two years ago. In all, I have accumulated $535 Disney Reward Dollars during that time and will likely hit the $700 mark by the time this current promotion ends. All in all, a great card.

I never carry a balance on my Disney Visa, but I also just got the notice about the interest rate being 9.99% plus prime which makes it currently 13.24%. I checked my last statement and the interest rate was 10.24% so for no apparent reason, my interest rate just went up 3%.

I love my Disney Visa. I know that some other cards give you bigger %'s back (although it is tough to find without an annual fee). But, for me, it is so tough to actually USE the other benefits - where the Disney Rewards Points are simple. We go to WDW once to twice a year and I just call and get a gift card and I'm good to go. We usually have about $200 in 'free' money to spend on a nice dinner or some souveniers every time we go. So the ease of use to me is huge. It is something I know I will use every time without it 'expiring' or anything.

10% discount

We received a 10% discount at all Disney run stores on purchase over $50.00 including tax. Plus discount on Disney.com. The best thing is we get 2 Reward card (like credit cards) we give then to our girls for spending money. We tell them this is all they get so don't ask for anything when it runs our. We also retain veto power. The cute card get's a lot of people asking me about Disney.

There definitely are cards out there with better rewards, but DH and I are too lazy to do the research and we don't want to pay an annual fee. We use our discover in certain months for certain things to get the 5% back and other than that we use the disney visa for everything else. We had $150ish disney dollars for our trip in May and we'll have probably $300 in May for our next trip. Its nice

Also, if you have two people on the card you don't both have to have the same design. I have Nemo and DH has the basic red mickey head one.

The best non-Disney credit card I have found was recommended by Clark Howard - it's the reward card at PenFed.

I got it to book our Disney trip so we got the 0% for 6 months too. Plus I got $40 off instantly when I booked...then $22 in rewards points...which I used to buy lanyards at the Disney store...those were the only perks I saw. The interest seems high but I pay stuff off. I probably won't use it once I pay off the trip. I almost fell over when I saw what my credit limit was...recession my butt!!!! I also applied for the Expedia Mastercard and got an instant $50 off my bookings and that was 0% for 6 months as well.

Wifey said, "The kids would love the Tinkerbell card!" I said, "Yeah, they would love that..." as I turned the laptop screen away from her view and clicked on the red card

Question on the "I pay the balance every month" crowd. I don't have experience on that since I am trying to pay off another card that does have a balance. What I want to do is use the card for my normal weekly purchases (groceries, gas, etc.) and on payday, log online and make a payment whether I have a statement coming or not. Can you do that or does it mess up the monthly statement.

For example, my wife has $300 left of her pay this week after sending in some bills. We bought some groceries and gas for the car and now I just want to make a $300 payment. Next week I get paid and we will have $400 left after bills. We will get some groceries again, fill up the cars, buy some lunch, and pay a few of the bills with the Disney card instead of sending in a check. Thus, I want to make another payment on the Disney card next week of $400. I want to do this every week instead of waiting for the statement to come in to pay. Does that work?

I pay on my Disney Visa about once a week. You can only pay as much as your current balance, sometimes it takes a few days for the purchase to go through. I believe you can make up to 8 payments a month (not really sure).

Yes, we all say we pay our bills each month....BUT...

The downside of the Disney Visa is if you ever make a late payment or miss a payment - the terms are pretty steep compared to some others. I haven't really looked recently, but that was my recollection. You can undo any 'savings' very quickly if you ever have to carry a balance.

Also, to get the reward points, you have to order a different 'rewards' card and transfer your points. once you transfer the points they expire more quickly. The points on your DIsney VIsa - even non-transferred ones eventually expire. The rewards card takes everal weeks to get in the mail.

I love how easy it is to use. For some reason I got $25 "bonus dollars" on y statement a couple of months ago. That was a nice little perk. Maybe it was because we've been cardholders for several years.
