DCL House Parties are Back! *** PLANNING THREAD *** - The DIS Discussion Forums

I haven't seen this announcement on DISBoards yet, but maybe I missed it. Just got an email from Disney Cruise Line that says they are looking for hosts for a DCL House Party on November 14th! We did this a couple years ago and had a blast and got lots of free goodies, too.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) we will be at Walt Disney World from Nov 12-19th so will miss the opportunity to throw a party this year.

Here's a list of the stuff they're sending to hosts and guests this year:

If selected as a host, you will receive a free party pack, which includes:

For the hosts:

* Limited edition Disney Cruise Line host pin
* Disney Dream luggage tags
* Exclusive host gift

For the guests:

* Disney Cruise Line temporary tattoos
* Disney Cruise Line bandanas
* Travel memories scrapbooking paper
* Disney Cruise Line recipe cards

And other gifts to make your party magical.

Sure would love to have some of that scrapbooking paper, along with a pin. Oh well, maybe next year.
I guess they're throwing the house parties again to drum up passengers during these slower times.
I'm just waiting until Sep 28th when I can sign up for that Alaskan cruise.

Can anyone comment on what exacly the House Party is? Do they just send you the stuff and you host a get together with your own family & friends or are you expected to invite a large number of people? Do you have to open your home for pictures or video?

I would go ahead and apply because on the final conformation I received it said Party will be held November 7, 2009

You need to invite at least 10 people (family & friends), they want to upload your pictures and/or videos from your party and have guest comment about your party.

They usually let you hold the party on a different day if you have a conflict. This has been true with some but not all so not sure about the DCL one.

Wish they could tell us the real date..

Page one says 11/14, page 2 says 11/7.

If its 11/14 great and I can apply, if its 11/7 I can't as I get off the Magic that day and won't be home

I am subcribed to the House Party emails but I have not seen anything about the DCL. I know I could have well over 10 people to this. When I go to the website I do not see it listed. Can some one please let me know where this is?

I hosted one of the DCL House Parties the last time they did this.

It was fun, and it will be interesting to see what they learned from the last House Party that will be different for this one. Hosts received a $50 OBC to use on a DCL cruise, and were entered in a drawing for two free cruises. I will find the Disboard thread and post a link.

Same with me - I see a DCL party from 2007 that says "still partying" but you can't apply to host. What am I missing?
