How weird it can do it from a few questions...
Pin / Pen - I said different Don / Dawn - different Merry/Mary/Marry - all same. EDITED! Mary's were all the same. I cant imagine them different.

They say pen and pin the same here, too, and so everyone will know which they mean, they call pens "ink pens". I say Merry/Mary/Marry all the same. Hmm.

The Inland North:
You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop." Well, they were sure right about this one. Although carbonated drinks around this area are called "soda". Of course we don't have an accent - everybody else does!

Mine says Midland; which sounds right, since I'm from PA.
"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio. |

mary is Mare-ee (rhymes with scary) Merry is Meh-ree (rhymes with Berry) If you think all the examples rhyme, then I don;t knwo how to explain it. ![]() If you go to Dictionary.com and put them all in, you can hear the different pronunciations. All the examples on the quiz I said sound different to me. I have a Northeast accent. |

According to the quiz I have a 'midland' accent...or 'no' accent.
BUT I am from Tennessee, and I definately have an accent...Southern. But it isn't that strong, and other locals have thought I wasn't from here b/c my accent isn't very strong. I have been known to y'all occassionally
