I'm gonna sound like a cheapskate, but need some imput.
I had an issue with a restaurant's food and they said they would refund my money. Now they're giving me the run around.
Here's the deal: My friend and I called in an order. She went to pick it up. I didn't know the total, I just sent $20 with her. After receiving the food, I was highly disappointed with the quality and the price. I did not touch the food, eat it, or even breathe on it. I immediately called the restaurant. They told me the manager wasn't in and I explained the situation. She told me the manager was the only one that could get into the register to do a refund. She assured me that they WOULD give me a refund, but I had to take the food back & the manager would call me the next day. So I took everything back and left my phone #. So the next day came & they didn't call, so I called there. Lady said manager said she couldn't do a refund, but they would cook me another order. First of all, there is NO WAY, I would trust them touching my food again. So I told the lady I would just call the corporate office and see what they recommend for me to do. I haven't called yet, but plan to today. Any advice?

I had a similar issue with a restaurant. They made my food totally wrong and items were missing. They also didn't give a receipt. I called the store and they refused to give a refund or replace my order because I could not provide a receipt. So I called the corporate office. I received a call from the general manager. I got a refund.

it is very common for restaurants to offer different food instead of a refund.
If it is owned by big corporate then they should be willing to refund the money so they will not get "told" on. you might have to push a little hard. Mikeeee

None of that matters.
They told her that if she took it back, they would refund her money the next day. Now they want to deny her what they promised her. At this point, it's not really about bad food or fourteen dollars. Call corporate and see what happens. |

The first person you spoke to seemed to be just a host or a similar position. They probably just assumed that a refund would be given but really had no right to assure a guest that it would. However you knew you weren't speaking to a manager so I guess you should have taken the her words with a grain of salt.
The price they charge is what they charge. If you didn't know it would be so expensive, now you know and you've learned your lesson. I would never expect a restaurant to refund my money for food that is now wasted just because I felt like it was too expensive. If there was a quality issue, then the restaurant did offer to re-do your meal which seems ok to me.
