Question re:pinpics site

Hi I am very new- like only have 5 pins or so new- to trading lol! I'm trying to do some research on the pins bf I buy. I have been if finding pins on eBay and looking on pinpics gallery. My question is, when you find it on pinpics- does that mean its an authentic pin? Or at least its one that has been made... So I can compare that to the eBay pin to see if I can find discrepancies that may signal a scrapper? I have seen some of the ones on the scrapper list on dizpins for sale in the park. Is there a good way to tell online if its real or not? (Other than what ive been reading) I it ok to ask to see the backs or to as k for more pics? Most ppl seem to just be posting a pic of the front. I guess I'm just seeking advice... TIA

It's difficult to tell when they are online, especially if the seller uses a stock photo or uses a photo as an example (they will state that you won't get the exact pins in the photo). From my understanding the Hidden Mickey pins are the ones that are most widely scrapped. Pinpic will have a picture of the legit pin but often because you are looking at it on the computer it will be hard to see discrepancies. Scrappers are known to have different coloring, rugged edges, and often space that is left open on a pin will be filled in with a scrapper. I have a great example of a pin at home. I have the legit pin and the scrapper, if I can figure out how to post a picture I will post one later when I get home from work. Hope this helps some.

I'd love to see a side by side comparison too.

I am not sure this is going to work. Still working on trying to get the picture posted. Still working on it, didn't work!

Here is a picture of a scrapper pin (on the left) and a legitimate pin (on the right). You will notice the coloring difference right off. If you look, the legit pin has a cut out part on it (I put something blue behind it so you could tell). That is all filled in on the scrapper pin. On the back of the scrapper pin the cream colored paint (that should be white) has made its way through the hole and is clumped on the back.
