Bag Swap is on hold.
Well no one wanted to respond to my PM's so there was no place for me to leave the bag at Disney. I don't know when I'll return to FL, but hopefully I can get it back into rotation. And I might make it resort/area specific at that point. Who knows. You may still sign up if you're coming towards the end of the year, but the next couple of months are out. Welcome to the Survival Bag Swap. It's a free swap between Disboard users of any extras that they feel another person could use. There's tons of goodies and toys for kids, snack items, bottled water, and other needs you might not realize you need till you get here. This is not a resort specific swap, so any one can join in. Hand off is from user to user, so it's important to contact the person before you and after you to create the switch. If you do not feel you want to take the time for hand offs, then don't join in. Occasionally, you can get lucky and pass off will happen at the same resort, but people change reservations all the time. And sometimes, some one will have a car that can make the switch a lot easier. I will not be living near the parks anymore, so this swap is going to be completely reliant on every one that joins in. Please post in this topic with your dates and resort, that way fellow users can PM you (please remember you must have 10 posted messages before being able send Private Messages). You must also PM me with with your name, resort, email, and phone number. That way if for some reason there's a hiccup along the way I have a way to contact you, especially if your vacation has already started (My area code phone number is 954, so don't be afraid to answer if you get a call from this number). Please post in this topic or PM once you have arranged delivery/pickup with your fellow diser's. If I have not gotten confirmation of this, at least 1 week prior to your arrival, I will take your name off the list and allow for some one else to join the swap. What's in the survival bag?? Light up toys Beach toys - great if you're staying at Y&B club or going to a water park Swords and wands Construction paper, index cards, note pad, markers, crayons & clip boards - Kids love writing to thier favorite characters or drawing pictures. Or if you don't want to purchase an autograph book. Lanyards - for pin trading and holding onto your Resort Key for Extra Magic Hours 3 guide books - a hidden mickey hunt book, Birnbaums pocket guide, and a general Orlando with Kids book. Step stool for little tikes to reach the sink in your room Ponchos for that lovely liquid sunshine we get so often... it help to bring it with you to the parks, doesn't help much in the room Dish soaps and laundry soaps - with little kids who knows what you'll be needing to clean up. Especially if you decide to let them have a Mickey Ice Cream bar. Might not be a good idea to leave chocolate on a shirt for a week. Bathroom needs - Toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, shampoos, conditioner, lotions. These are all travel size packages, so if you use them once, they're forever yours. Very helpful if you plan on going to the water parks or you don't like Disney Shampoo, can't say it's the best at getting chlorine out of your hair. Sun block - It's Florida, do I need to say more? Hand Santizers - I hope no one gets sick this year at Disney, there's plenty of it to keep all the germies away. There is also a cooler. It's an Igloo 30 can size. Toss some ice in the morning and you've got yourself some nice cold water. Add a few wash clothes for keeping the back of your neck cool too. The cooler is in almost new condition, maybe a little dirty, but no damage to the actual cooler. The suitcase is a bit old, but in still pretty good condition, there's a small tear on the front bottom pocket, and the rubber casing around the wheel has fallen off (don't worry it still rolls). That's the only significant defects I can see, so please try to keep it in good condition, unless you have a rolling suitcase you could donate to this. This is a learning experience for me, so occasionally there will be rule changes and such. All users updates will happen in this post. Following posts of users may not always be correct. *-*-*~~*~~~~~ UPDATES ~~~~~*~~*-*-* 2010 List iluvdiscruises June 22-28 Marshay July 11-20 kymmyk13 Aug 1-7 POP jennyf2 Aug 15-22 All Star SerinaEmily Aug 24-Sept 3 POP janloz Sept 11-18 Beach Club zoie101 Sept 18-21 Animal Kingdom mickeymouseclubhouse Sept 21-Sept 28 Music 2boysnme Oct 2-8 POP A.Mickey Oct 15-22 A.Mickey Dec 5-11 Last edited by SandrA9810; 05-25-2010 at 08:22 PM. |

It is an interesting idea but seems like it might be a lot of work for you. I hate having to pack all that first aid stuff. And to not have to pack/buy cooling fan bottles would be great. Even sharing those lightup spinning toys the kids always want in the parks but don't play with at home. I don't know about toothpaste though. I do know that we always have left over bottled water, juice boxes and granola bars that just get left for housekeeping.

I have a pile of trail size toothpaste from my dentist. I don't like colgate... so they're just clogging up our medicine cabinet.
I don't mind the work... I can't say I have better things to do... besides hang out on here. And since most people that come to parks plan at least a couple months in advance... i'll have a couple months in advance of schedules to work around. Of course Tuesdays might be a problem if Kari gets annoyed (that's her only day off). But I can leave her at home with a controller in her hands... I also thought of a couple other things... I have one of those clip on mickey fans, and some flash lights. In case some one is staying at the Fort. Which would be better, telling people to bring thier own batteries, or trying to find a decent battery charger and having people leave a couple rechargable batteries till there's a collection of them?? I'm always finding coupons for them in the paper. And if I can find one like I have it'll charge any size battery... AAA to D's and even 9v. |

Not to mention piles of bandaids... kari always manages to hurt herself when we're out and about... which requires a new package a band-aids.... I was just trying to unpack them all yesterday and couldn't believe how many we have.
Even as often as Kari hurts herself... I know we don't need THAT many. Plus we never use the small ones because she has to do it big... |

I think it's an awesome idea.
I even have the Disney fanny pack--that I never use anymore. I'll be more than happy to send it down with a bunch of sharpies and caliber clips. It's a great way to pass on the pixie dust.

Let's see, what to send down that is a must. **Heat/cold packs for sore muscles...these are the disposible ones but definitely a must. My goodness does Dh appreciate these! **Antibactial wipes and hand sanitizer--DD is a germaphobe **golf balls-again great for sore muscles. **ziplock bags. I always pack a box of these because you never know when you are going to need one. **tape, scissors, sewing kit, power cord? **for the kids--why don't each user leave a welcome letter for the children of the next family? How fun that would be for the kids to think Mickey left all the items for their family to use while there! Ok...I'm in! I'll be there Sept. 15-24th at POP CENTURY.

Pokemon is way more than when I got into it.
When I first started it, it was just 151 pokemon... now there's more trainers, more cards, a bazillion different pokemon. Several games for game boys. But the gameboy games do require some good reading skills to advance in the game. What exactly is she into?? the video games, the card collecting, the card playing, just the toys??? |

OP=you really have the time to pick up and bring this to various WDW resorts? Won't you have to pay a fee to park each time?

While I think this is a great idea, I think that this thread may be closed down by mods for the money aspect. Although I may not understand the rules correctly, but I'm pretty sure that all swaps have to be free now.
That said, you might have an idea for an actual business here. Similar to the gift baskets businesses in Orlando. You could charge people for different types of "Disney Survival Kits" and make them for travellers. I bet you could really get the conventioneers with them, too. Either way, I know you are trying to do a good thing. Good luck. |

From what I understand, her S/O works at WDW. With a lil luck and careful planning, this could be a face to face swap in many cases.
As for the $$..you're right she'll probably have to remove that line. But if enough ppl are interested we will have more than enough by the time the first swapper that there won't be any need for it. I think it is a great idea. Sure would save me from overpacking!

Parking at the resorts is free. And no I don't have to pay for parking. And it's not time consuming when I have to take Kari to work to begin with. That's why I think this would work better than some of the others. Since it won't be relying on the resort to hold the bag for weeks till the next Diser comes along. I wouldn't mind leaving it in baggage hold, as long as the next diser showed up the next day.
And if a diser is leaving in say the afternoon, and has time to resort hop to the next diser's resort, I don't have to be the middle man. Plus it doesn't have to be soley for a value resort guest. At pop or all stars. And plus, I like chilling and relaxing at the resorts. Having a bite to eat. Reading a book next to the fireplace above the lodge's entry. Bike riding through the campgrounds. And sorry it's been ages ago since I've read the fine print. |
