I'm all caught up and I love your photopass pictures! I'm going with MEK because the Sorcerer Mickey picture is my favorite!! I love Mickey in all his outfits but that one is just the best.
![]() Your solo time in MK sounds wonderful. While a solo trip is not something I'd be able to do anytime in the near future, you have inspired me to try to get some solo time.I'm sorry that the rain but a damper on your plans but another night of rest was probably a good thing! Can't wait to hear about the adventures with your mom! |

She has a thing...
Wednesday May 27th. Day 6.
I woke up after sleeping in a bit and by sleeping in I mean 8:30AM. I was super excited that Mom was coming in. I knew that I had about two hours until her plane landed and I decided that I wanted to try and sleep some more so I would be even more rested and I have this theory that when you are really excited about something, going back to sleep makes the time go by so much faster. It didn't work because Marc called and then I was too wound up. I watched the weather report, same report with afternoon showers. *GROAN* Oh well. I wasn't going to think about that right now. I got ready and before I knew it, Mom was calling to report that she had landed and was already on Magical Express. Yay! It was before 10:30 too, her plane had landed early. I took my mug and headed to the All Star Music lobby. I sat at the little table they have by the window by the main door and waited patiently. It seemed to take longer than I thought it should of but Mom arrived safe and sound from the ME bus. I was so excited! She had just brought a carry on so we didn't need to worry about any of her other luggage. She sat with me for a few minutes to call my Dad to report that she had arrived safe and sound and was with me at the Resort. We decided to head back to the room so that Mom could settle in a bit and to doctor up my feet. Mom wasn't thrilled with the long hike to our room but oh well. I like Broadway! I showed Mom my feet and you know that look that Moms get when you have done something either really stupid or really sad, it's the same look my Mom had when I dyed my hair pink as a freshman in High School. I believe she uttered something like "What did you do to yourself?" and then "I should have gotten your sneakers from Marc." Well. Why didn't I think of that!?! D'oh! Oh well. Mom had brought some extra bandages and declared that we must get some ointment on our travels. While she was getting ready and while I was resting my feet, I asked her to hand me my Mailbag. She grabbed and then asked what I had in it, it weighed a ton. Oh, Mom! She convinced me to leave my camera in the room to give myself less weight and that we would just take pictures with her camera. Done and done. The plan for today was supposed to be Hollywood Studios for a bit and then Brown Derby for dinner. I had all the maps out and gave Mom all of her options for what we could do. She had ZERO interest in going too Hollywood Studios. Zero. I get my love of Hollywood and Movies from Dad. I said okay. I then proposed that we could go somewhere else and then to Brown Derby or did she want to eat somewhere else? I will admit. At this point I was biting my tongue. I wanted my SALMON POLENTA! I was being a grownup though because I had told Mom that I would take her to a dinner in Disney for her Mother's Day present, I guess it's only fair that she picked where we were going. She wanted to eat somewhere else. *sigh* Goodbye Salmon Polenta...until next time. I told her that she needed to decide what park she wanted to go too and then we could pick someplace to eat. She looked at the maps, thought and picked Epcot. Okay! I asked her where she wanted to eat. She said that the place where I had the fish n' chips sounded really yummy to her. I should have known. Mom's grandmother was from England and it's hard for her to resist fish n' chips! I called Disney Dining and nothing. Sigh. We had the choice of Biergarten or Nine Dragons. I absolutely had no desire to go to Biergarten so I asked Mom if Nine Dragons was okay. She said sure. We had our ADR and with that we headed to Epcot. I was not happy. Not only was I giving up my Salmon Polenta but I had to eat at Nine Dragons? Bah. It doesn't interest me, I am sure it's good but not my thing. I tried calling again while we waited for the bus. They had Marrakesh. I'd rather eat there so we took that one. Mom was thrilled to try it. I felt mildly better. We had a bit to wait for the bus....Mom stood in the line and I sat down. I hate it when people do that but my feet were KILLING me. They were really bad this day and I hadn't even stepped inside a park. When we arrived at Epcot we went to the ticket window to upgrade the 1 day pass for Mom into a 4 day park hopper. I should have told her not to get the park hopper but I forgot and she just went with what I had been telling her for weeks. I felt bad afterwards because we didn't do any park hopping. For some reason the woman wasn't able to upgrade this ticket which I thought was odd. She directed us to go through the turnstiles and to the Guest Services located inside and that might be able to do it. I verified that we could use the ticket and still upgrade. I didn't want any problems! We stopped to take some pictures of the Topiaries. It was hard because Mom's camera doesn't have an eye viewer, it just has the screen so with the sun it was near impossible to see what we were taking. We both took these ones. I think we did going at it blinded! ![]() ![]() ![]() She had already Mickey-fied her purse! Hehehe. ![]() ![]() Not the greatest pic! Instead of heading straight to guest services we hopped in line for Spaceship Earth. It was a quick line but right after they had taken our picture....STOPPED. Again. It was getting to be a joke! We sat there for quite a bit of time. It was unfortunate too because it was right before you feel the really cool air on the ride. I texted back and forth with Jen and even attempted to get a picture. ![]() Nothing like sitting in pitch black! Soon we were on our way. Then we stopped again. For the life of me...I can't remember where. All of my stops on Spaceship Earth are blending in my brain. Oh! I remember. It was as our future was building and I was really worried that they would mess up because I wanted Mom to see the ending. I let her pick everything. ![]() I teased her about not taking off her sunglasses for the pic! ![]() ![]() ![]() Looks like we will have a wonderful future! Afterwards, we headed to Guest Services who was able to upgrade Mom's ticket with no problem. Yay!! I also asked about other dining locations. I still wasn't happy.... WOO HOO! They had Rose & Crown at 4:45PM! SCORE! I was super excited and so was Mom. We took our happy selves over to The Land. We each got a fastpass for Soarin' that would be good after 6:30PM and then went over to Sunshine Seasons for some lunch. We were both STARVED. ![]() Mom had salmon with an olive tapenade that was good, just a little dry. ![]() I had the chicken, which was so YUMMY. Really good! ![]() We shared the carrot cake for dessert which was moist and delish. We made our game plan while we were eating. We were going to go on Living with the Land and then do the standby for Soarin'. I was hoping to get in two rides that evening since we may not come back to Epcot. Mom loved Living with the Land. I absolutely know she took pictures but they are not in my Smug Mug. D'oh! Use your imaginations. I was amazed on this ride because some of the vegetation looked so different from when I rode this with Jen on Saturday. It was just a few days but it was amazing. After we used the restrooms and got into the Soarin' queue which was posting about a 70 minute wait. That's okay. I wanted Mom to SOAR! I have to say that I had a lot of fun with the video game things in the queue! I didn't really know that they were there. So much fun. I liked flapping my wings. HEHE! Have any of you played those before? Made the waiting not so bad. Don't get me wrong...it was a long wait. Continued in the next post..... |

She has a thing... Part 2.
Continued from previous post...
It was in this line that my neck was bothering me. I think it must have gotten a little sunburned. At the time I was really confused because I had been putting tons of sunscreen on the back of it. Mom looked at it and she said it was really red. Very curious. I shrugged it off and continued waiting. It took almost the full 70 minutes before we were ushered into the FRONT ROW! I didn't even ask! I was so happy that I got to ride in the front again. 4 for 4!! Mom loved Soarin' and I enjoyed it as well. So much fun. I love listening to the music from the ride in my car now. After Soarin', my Mom talked with my Dad again and we headed to World Showcase. We were passing on Test Track for now. I love this picture...I think it's the balloon. ![]() Mom loved this tree.... ![]() She was thrilled by it because apparently she is hoping to acheive the same effect at home with one of her trees. Mom was loving all of the pretty flowers, we stopped and shared a delicious smoothie. ![]() She checked out some of the F&G Festival displays. ![]() Mom took this pretty picture. ![]() And I forced her to take these light fixture pictures. ![]() ![]() We decided to stick around in England since our dinner ADR was rapidly approaching. We poked around in all of the shops. Mom contemplated buying my brother a Beatles shirt and I was searching for more pins and something "English" to bring home. I never did find anything I wanted. I was too bummed out about my bunny not being there to really like something. I wish I could have taken these home. These have become my favorite light fixtures on property! Aren't they gorgeous? I just adore them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I still can't believe I didn't notice the carpet bag with the light coming out of it while I was there. I'm ashamed of myself. As I was taking this picture, I hear my mom say to a gentleman that is looking at me...."She has a thing for light fixtures. You should see all the pictures she takes of them." Oh. My. I was so embarassed! Mothers! ![]() She got a big kick out of my embarassment so she was very pleased with herself. We went and checked in for our meal at Rose & Crown and we had a very short wait. Only a few minutes. At this point my feet were bugging me so I was glad that we'd be sitting in AC for a bit. We had the best server for this meal. I can't remember his name but he normally bartends, he was just filling in on this night. He was so helpful and the best thing was that he was telling us about traditions in England and how they eat food and his after school snacks growing up. It was really wonderful. He was a bit chatty but I loved his accent so he could have pulled up a chair for all I care. I wish I remembered his name. We each had the magical star cocktail to start. Yummmmmmmm. Then we split the cheese plate again, I forgot to take picture of that. Our server suggested making little sausage sandwiches and he was spot on, so yummy that way! Mom had the fish n' chips but of course. ![]() She loved them, thought they were really good. I had the steak that came with potato gratin, brocollini and a cheddar popover. ![]() As I am remembering how delicious this meal was...I am wondering WHY I didn't book this for the Fall. I think this is a big mistake on my part. Sigh. It was so yummy. Everything was delicious. The potato gratin was devine, the cheddar popover was delicious, the steak was wonderfully prepared. Two thumbs up from me. I've debated what I would get again at Rose & Crown and I think I'd get the steak again because I can get the Fish N' Chips at the stand. The best of both worlds! We debated trying another cocktail but decided to forgo it to spend some time in WS. ![]() We saw Aurora and I took a few photos with her. ![]() We poked around in the shops, I was looking for something for Marc but couldn't decide what to get him. Mom bought some lavendar sage soap that we used for the rest of our trip. It smelled so good. In fact she has been lamenting the fact that she only bought one bar. Her lovely daughter is going to stockpile some in the Fall to dole out at holidays. At this point, my feet were killing me. I was just miserable. They hurt so bad that I was walking funny and because I was walking funny my hips and legs were sore too. I tried to put a smile on my face because this was Mom's trip and I didn't want to spoil it for her. We did a slow tour of the countries. I most remember Morrocco because I love the light fixtures. ![]() ![]() ![]() In Japan, I stopped and put my socks on. I was close to tears at this point my feet hurt so bad. When I was done I met Mom in the store, we watched the Pick a Pearl ceremony. I bought some of those pads you put on the bottoms of your feet to detox them. They are neat little things. Very cool. I used one set when I got home. I still have one left over. In Germany, I sat on the bench while Mom shopped. She had me come in because she wanted to buy me one of those little birds with feathers to put on my tree. It was very kind of her. I picked out a gold and green one. He is super cute. I was so miserable. I started to think to myself that there was no way I could go to Animal Kingdom tomorrow. Every 5 minutes I was sitting down. I was trying to put on a brave face for my mom but I just ended up becoming super quiet and then she knew I was miserable. We traveled to Norway and we bought school bread for both of us and Mom got another pastry to have in the room later on. We lost our steam in Norway. I was miserable, Mom was tired though I think if I hadn't been so miserable we would have stayed longer. We decided to give away our Soarin' fastpasses and go back to ASMu. The thought of walking to the front of the park made me want to cry. I think I had to stop three times on the way out to rest my feet. The last time I stopped was by Spaceship Earth and I started to cry. It was horrible. I was tired, hurt and so upset that I was ruining Mom's trip. Mom consoled me, said we would do whatever it took to get me to a park the next day and things would be better. We didn't have to wait too long for a bus to get us and luckily we were both able to get a seat. THANK GOODNESS. I don't remember much after this. I think we stopped to get some water and we poked around the gift shop a bit and bought some ointment for my feet. Then we headed back to our room. I soaked my feet for a long time. Applied the ointment and just let them breath. I do know that we watched the end So You Think You Can Dance, which I had never watched before and REALLY enjoyed. I had never watched it before and now I am hooked. At somepoint, in mid conversation with Mom she just started snoring. I cracked up. I turned off the tv and lights and headed to bed....only to take forever in falling asleep because Mom snores like a foghorn. I occasionally wear earplugs with Marc because he snores so loud but Mom puts him to shame. Eventually I fell asleep without my earplugs because my feet hurt too much to get up and get them. Ha! |

Wow. I had no idea that your feet were that bad. It must of made it worst in a way with your Mom there because then you felt like you had to walk around. I sincerely hope that your feet hold up better in September

Oh, I can almost feel your pain. I am so sorry your trip was ruined by rain and foot pain.
I am no longer jealous that you get to go back in September without me. You deserve a do over. I do think it is neat that your Mom got to share a few days with you. That steak does look awesome at R&C. You are really making me want to give it another shot one of these days. |

I am really thankful that I do get to have a do over. I'll be honest that when I got home I didn't want to go back for a long long time since I had been so miserable. That didn't last long! ![]() Quote:
Thanks on the skirt. I liked wearing it, it was a nice change. I don't know what happened in MK with the picture taking, I was just really enjoying my time. |

Oh, honey. Your feet were hurting so badly.
That's just no fun. You know, being sick in Disney is one thing, because you can kind of trudge on, but when your feet hurt, well it just plain s-u-c-k-s! I spell it because I'm not allowed to say that word any more. Four year old repeats everything. ![]() Wow, you really loved Rose and Crown! You're making me consider a reservation there. Seriously, seriously consider it. I've always wanted to try it and I think it would be fun for the three of us. Both sets of food pictures from there look yummy! I'm glad you had a good start with your Mom but sorry that your day ended so badly.

LL, I feel so bad for you. I am so sorry that your feet hurt so bad. I am glad that you did get to eat at Rose and Crown again. If you didn't get to eat at your beloved Brown Derby then you at least got to eat somewhere you enjoy. I have decided that I am going to try eat there on my trip. That steak looks good and I love popovers.
