Day 5, Blizzard Beach, Chloe cooks, and Gab gets in BIG trouble!


If you remember, Michael insisted we do a water park during this trip. Last trip we did Typhoon Lagoon and thoroughly enjoyed our day. This trip we decided to try Blizzard Beach after watching the planning DVD.

Because rope drop for BB wasn’t at the crack of dawn and because Nate offered to drive us instead of us having to take the bus, we had plenty of time to enjoy some awesome cheese omelets made by none other than my person chef and middle child: Chloe. Here are a few pics of a sleepy Chloe and her mad cooking skills.








Mmmmmm, after morning of cold cereal and Pop Tarts, this really hit the spot! Next DVC trip, we will definitely cook more hot breakfasts. We didn’t take full advantage of the full kitchen.

We hopped in the car, Nate dropped us off, and we proceeded to have a terrific albeit tiring day. Some pics:

The storm clouds started to really hover about 3 pm but held off until about 4:30. We had walked all the way up to the top of Summit Plummet and literally once we got the top step, a huge crack of thunder followed by a bolt of lightening happened and we got shut down. Luckily we made it to the bus top before it started raining. It was pouring!!!! The wait for the OKW bus was over 20 minutes. A few shots on the bus ride back:










Once we got back to the OKW, we met Jenna et al. The plan was to go the MGM tonight and have dinner at Sci-Fi. I was so looking forward to this as I have read nothing but favorable reviews on Sci-Fi and the whole experience. Now, Gabby had been really mouthy today She was snippy, rude, and talking back with me ALL day. The final straw was back in the GV. Now, I don’t remember what was said but I do know that I had had enough and decided she needed an attitude adjustment. Best move I made all trip I informed her as well as the rest of the gang that Gab and I would be staying back at the Villa and skipping the park that night. I know you are all proud She didn’t think I was serious; we were in WDW after all. Would I really make her miss out? More importantly would I actually miss out? You bet your sweet booty I did!

She cried and cried, begged and pleaded and I refused to give in. Michael offered to stay back with her knowing how much I was looking forward to Sci-Fi but I felt it was important for me to be the one that stayed back. It was me after all who she was smarting off to. To be safe and not give in, I gave Michael our tickets so there was no way I could give in and change my mind. I know my weaknesses.

I don’t have any photos to document the night because I gave Michael the camera.

Gabby fell asleep from crying right after the group left. When she woke up she was starving and so I was I because we had played really hard at BB. Jenna told me Olivia’s was pretty good so we thought we’d give it a try. Jenna was right- the food was awesome!!!! It was still pouring when we hopped the bus to get to Olivia’s. We were seated right away. Our server came over, explained the DDP, and took our drink order. Gab got a soda and I got an unsweetened mango iced tea. It was delish! Jenna had told us about their pineapple bread so I was eager to try it. We both ordered the steak and shared a Cesar salad. It came with some gooey scalloped potatoes. Our steaks were a perfect mid-rare and we gorged! About 10 minutes after we ordered Gab decided to start speaking to me again. She profusely apologized and thanked me for the trip. Life was good again. We enjoyed out meal and for dessert I got the key lime tart to go and Gab got a HUGE vanilla shake to go. We wandered around the gift shop and bought a few souvenirs for my in-laws and co-workers. Once back to the Villa Gab asked if we could meet the others. I told her I gave daddy our tickets so no, we couldn’t. She started to get a little upset but realized it wouldn’t do her any good. We watched Twilight and waited for the others. From then on, she knew I meant business.

If I had a dollar for every pick of my kids climbing on Keith over the past 4 years, I would be RICH!

Well I really want to stay at WL but it was all booked (standard veiw). I could have upgraded to a courtyard veiw but I didn't want to spend the $400 more. So I booked AKL instead, she will check WL for me to see if a room opens up. I decided that this is our 10th anniv. trip and I wanted to splurge, espicially if my dd will be with my parents. If WL doesn't open up I will still be really happy with AKL because I really can't decide where I want to stay the most. It changes several times a day.

I adored WL when we stayed there in 2007 but the pics I've seen of AKL look amazing too...no matter where you stay it will be a fantastic trip

He is sleeping through the night but he goes down about 11 pm and is all puppy-like at 5:30 am.

None of those sites look familiar. I can only stay at places offered through RCI but I will double check to see if they are on there! Wouldn't that be wild to meet for drinks in the UK?


It was so hard to stand my ground with Gab at first but so very worth it.

Keith always has kids crawling over him. It's unreal. They adore him. I have yet to see a child not clammer for his attention!

Chloe is quite the little chef. So darling.

I applaud you for standing your ground! I think I might have been tempted to go to MGM and let DH stay with her but it's obvious you made the correct choice -- and sounds like she ended up coming around so you could enjoy a good meal. She prob needed that alone time with you, too.

Thanks for the validation you two! Ya know, her knowing I mean bidniz has carried over because if I will miss MGM, she know I will miss anything here in Utah.


And yes, we are DVC owners! My 170 points are banked and I am going to wait a little while longer to see if my Mexico wait list comes through. If not I have a couple ideas in the works..............The possibilities include:

~ GCV next May right after Michael's Ford Ironman in St. George, Utah as we'll be half way to So Cal anyway

~ THV/BCV next October during FW

~ GCV next June with Jenna et al if the the Ironman falls through due to Michael's back pain This trip will include the Big Tree Tour up the Cali coast.

~ Somewhere tropical after I research typical airfare

I forgot to add, the girls got really cool hair wraps at BB. In fact they are still in. Spendy but truly a great souvenir!!!! If you look closley you can see them in the photos.

BB was great. It had more family activies than TL or so it seemed. maybe the kids are just older and were willing to do more. I liked the holiday meets summer theme.

Not too bad, actually. It helps knowing that I will be back in WDW in just 3 months since we'll probably move our trip up to Sept!

I am really glad to have gone to DL though, I think the classic Tiki Room may be tied with Pirates as my favorite ride there now!
