Monday QOTD:
Are you in tune with how your body reacts to foods? Do you listen to your body for cue's it gives you? I think I am in some respects. Like yesterday I had a huge meal and right now my stomach is feeling icky and bloated. I also could tell last night because my ring was/is tighter on my finger so I know there is some salt/water retention. And my gums get sore when I eat walnuts. Besides that, I need to learn to listen to my body's signals of hunger and full. Sarah |

I have been writing down my food for the last week, but was busy so never got it entered in WW. Today I threw out all my little notes with the food on it. And am just starting fresh. Unfortunately, I decided to help myself to some Girl Guide cookies this morning and ate 13points worth of cookies, which isn't the best thing to do. So today will use up some of my flex points. I have now written on the box of cookies what the points value is so I will stop at 2 cookies, instead of 8. Monday QOTD: Are you in tune with how your body reacts to foods? Do you listen to your body for cue's it gives you? I am working on this. I sometimes am enjoying what I'm eating, so I eat until I'm way past being full. Or munching while I'm bored, and not even hungry. I'm getting much better at just stopping.

Monday QOTD:
Are you in tune with how your body reacts to foods? Do you listen to your body for cue's it gives you? Funny you ask this. I have noticed that I definitely feel an uncomfortable degree of "fullness" after certain meals, even if I didn't eat an unusual amount. I never thought about the fact that it could be WHAT I was eating as opposed to HOW MUCH. Definitely fats bother my stomach much more than they used to. I had a half of a small fries from Wendy's on Friday night. I haven't eaten fries in many months. The rest of my food that evening was very low fat (plain chicken, plain veggies, fat free frozen yogurt) and while I certainly eat my fair share, I felt disportionately bloated that evening and the next morning. I think it was the fat in the fries. I learned the HARD WAY last T. giving that I definitely need to watch my fats and my portions. I overate lots of unusual, fattening foods (of course) and felt MISERABLE for almost a week! It seemed like it took that long for all of that food to fully work its way out of my system. In the meantime I felt bloated, overly full, gassy, and bloated. Enough to teach me to NEVER eat like that again! Thanks for asking..............P

Please bear with me -- I figured I'd better try to learn to multiquote before my coaching week in July...so some of you are the lucky posts!

Ok, just three days until we leave for our Universal vacay. I keep going back and forth on how to handle our arrival lunch in Orlando. A part of me wanted to hit the Old Country Buffet, but that seems like getting things off to a hefty start . We ate at Denny's last year, and that wasn't a winner either. I need something that says 1) I'm on vacation 2) I still eat like there will be food tomorrow. I'm thinking maybe Steak & Shake? Open to ideas -- anything on I-Drive!Maria

Hello!
Since there are so many of us on WW and online, I was wondering if anyone was on the new WW beta community? I am corinnak over there as well. It's gotten pretty nice over there lately with blogs and status updates and all. On to the QOTD - I only missed about 10,000 of them! I have been loving reading everyone else's this week, though. Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it? The hardest thing is when things change - travel, guests, the kids are out of school, the kids are in camp etc. Just about any change in routine has the potential to throw off my food or exercise plan. I am doing pretty well at this point in thinking ahead about the changes and getting a plan B or C in my head before I'm in the situation, but it is still always hard. Sunday QOTD: If you could have any role at WDW, what would it be? Some of you may know of my interest in the technical aspects of theater. I would love to run the light board for one of the shows - Fantasmic, B&TB, Lion King, AI. MONDAY QOTD: What is your favorite "bad food"? Do you stay away from it all together or do you find a way to work it in? Chocolate Ice Cream is my Kryptonite. It is safer not to keep it in the house, or if it is in the house, in the freezer downstairs. Otherwise, I have been known to grab a clean spoonful out of the carton throughout the day. I do have it sometimes, out in the world - usually soft serve, usually twisted with vanilla. I just plan for it. And I have had a McDonald's vanilla soft serve cone about once a week with my kids all during my weight loss. It seems to work for now.Tuesday QOTD: What is your favorite non Disney vacation? We just had a great trip to Virginia. Would have loved a few more days at Skyland on Skyline Drive for hiking and exploring. D.C. was also great and we would love more time there as well! But I would have to say that Massachusetts is my favorite non-Disney trip. I've still got friends out there, so that is fun, and there are so many things to do in Boston and surrounding area that we could be happy and busy there for weeks. Wednesday QOTD: What is your favorite "activity"? Ha ha - I love the way "activity" is in quotes. In spite of my continued "Athena" phisique and the fact that I am not built for speed, I do love running a lot. It's good for my body, mind and soul. Friday QOTD: What is your favorite Fruit & favorite veggie? Favorite fruit is currently Nectarines - I think this varies depending on the time of year! The Nectarines are SO good right now. Saturday QOTD: OP Meal Out? I'm a vegetarian, so it's sometimes a challenge to get an OP vegetarian meal. My favorites include: #1 Tucci Bennuch: Whole grain pasta with roasted vegetable sauce Runners Up: Subway: Gardenburger Sub, no cheese or onions, with spicy mustard & apples Panera: You Pick 2 with Greek Salad, dressing on the side and vegetable or black bean soup. Olive Garden: Minestrone Soup, Salad (dressing on the side)and half a breadstick Burger King: Veggie Burger, no cheese, no mayo with apples on the side In general, it works well to split an entree with DH and each get our own small salad when there are less than optimal options. Sunday QOTD: Fave kitchen gadget? Oh man, I love so many of them. I'll second the George Foreman Grill - I felt dumb buying one as a vegetarian, but it has been great. Cooks great gardenburgers and veggie dogs but also makes wonderful grilled cheese sandwiches for the kids, and is wonderful for portobello mushrooms and asparagus as well! Runner up to my little seed grinder (it is a commandeered small coffee grinder, never used for coffee) - it's been seeing a lot of action grinding delicious flax seeds for me lately! Monday QOTD: Are you in tune with how your body reacts to foods? Do you listen to your body for cue's it gives you? I am also working on this. I have definitely noticed which foods slow down the works and which speed things along recently. As well as which foods cause a little indigestion. I am getting better at listening for the cue to "Stop eating already, you crazy lady!!!"

Mind you, I haven't been there, but if I were choosing a place for lunch, I'd go to Sweet Tomatoes. "At Sweet Tomatoes, for one great low price, you can have fresh salads, soups, pastas, muffins and desserts. As much or as little as you like. Sweet Tomatoes. Eat Well. Live Better. * Hours of operation: Sun - Thu: 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fri & Sat: 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m * Type: Buffet * Dining Option: Lunch, Dinner, Take Out, Restaurant Self Standing * Dress code information: Casual * Parking information: Free * Handicap Accessibility" I've got a funny story for you regarding a Ponderosa (cause there's one of those on I-Drive as well, and I don't need much of an excuse to drag this one out). It was back in high school and we were finishing up at the Ponderosa salad bar. I went up to get a little dessert and considered the chocolate mousse and the pink mousse but ultimately went with some yellow mousse. I sat down at the table and took a big bite of the yellow mousse - except it wasn't mousse at all. It was whipped margarine.

Nope, donac, was having computer problems over the week-end and it is the end of the school year so it is a busy time for her. I am sure she will get them posted for us when she can. I'll be looking for your name on the list!

As for the QOTD - I have to admit I don't ALWAYS listen, there are times when I'm emotionally eating and I feel full but not "SATISFIED" so the binging continues... however lately I've had so many stomach issues, bloating, gas, pain - that I know there is something else going on - which I'm having to go thru serious of things to check out. However, I am really starting to think it's tied to hormones and my ovaries / etc. Seriously it's totally cyclical (sp?) and one week out of the month I feel like crap. My cycle is pretty much stopped at this point so it's hard to tell - gotta get to the gyno... I know TMI!!!

I lost 2.6 last week! It was such a nice boost after maintaining for forever.
Monday QOTD: I try to. I am currently having some severe abdominal issues that I've posted about elsewhere. I can never tell if it is directly related to food or something else (undergo an endoscopy/colonoscopy next week). The frustrating part is the same thing one day will be fine but the next day will be terrible. I've only been able to figure out one or two things that are definitely off limits.

Monday QOTD: Are you in tune with how your body reacts to foods? Do you listen to your body for cue's it gives you?
I've been trying to listen. "The little voice" talks very softly when I am eating things "IT" wants. "Good Julia, eat your veggies and fruit" Though it screams at me if it's food that it not so good for me " YEAH JULIA YOU WANT THAT DONUT GO GET IT! EAT IT ALL! EAT IT!!!" Then I have to fight it down saying no I don't need it or want it or give in and get it. Temptation is hard to overcome in the early stages especially when you are not equipped with healthy snacks. I have learned to keep healthier snacks on hand at ALL times. I don't like when my "little voice" yells at me.
