No problem! I thought I missed out on some announcement.

Food Network Challenge usually consists of 4 chefs with a 8hr competition to make a themed cake or other pastry. There are other Challenges but the cake theme is the most popular.

Keegan is the host/moderator. Then there are 3 judges who critique the chefs work and decide on a winner. 1st prize is $10,000.

Hey Catherine ... do you think Todd English will actually be at the Bluezoo signature dinner? Was he there last year?

I was a little confused when I looked through the Festival guide and didn't see his name listed for the dinner.

I can tell you he was there last year. Made his rounds through the dining room and talked with everyone, we have a picture of him with the people at our table. He even sat at a table int the dining room ... his significant other was at that table.

Catherine might have more to say about this year. I know she saw him last year though!

Thanks redzinner! I'm hoping that he'll be there this year, too, given the price tag for the event.

This is the first event we're going to try to book on August 11th.

Yes, Todd will be at that signature dinner. If you look at the cooking demonstrations schedule, he's also slated to do a culinary demonstration earlier that afternoon.
The booklet does list his name next to Chef Windus in both the daily schedule and the Culinary Adventures in Signature Dining schedule.


And last year Catherine and I were seated at the neighboring table next to him. That significant other of his must have filled up on the flat scallop since I don't think she ate more than 1/2 dozen bites total from the subsequent courses. How can a chef have a girlfriend that doesn't eat??????? What a waste!

Actually, I thought there would be a challenge not because of Keegan Gerhard being there, but by cake decorators who have appeared on Food Network Challenge being there. I mentioned before that Keegan's been a F&WF regular for years.

We will be there the week before F&W. Then our last two days are the first two days it starts....... do we go on Friday or Sat. ???? or does it matter?? We have three kids and wont do any demos...... Just eating (ok drinking) around the lake......

Fridays and Saturdays are generally the days where you have the possibility of the biggest crowds and the longest lines in the World Showcase because that's when the locals come. If you're stuck with those days I'd pick Friday afternoon while the locals are still at work.

Yes, I was sitting back to back with Todd English's girlfriend. I asked him about the "reisling air" (kind of a sparkly foam garnish made from wine) on the fish. I think maybe the girlfriend ate riesling air and not much else. I suppose that is what one needs to do to get into a dress in the negative sizes, but then is dating a chef kind of a waste? Unless he doesn't cook off duty.

Of course it did mean Todd spent a great deal of time around that area so if part of the cost was for celebrity proximity and schmooze, it was bonus time.

Any word if you will be able to pre-purchase wine seminar tickets that morning instead of lining up an hour before seminar? That would be a time saver.
