Discovery Cove in DECEMBER?

We've been twice before in the height if the summer and loved it. But this year our holiday is in December -- is it worth doing DC or should we give it a miss? I know the weather is hard to predict, but if there's a good chance it might be really chilly then I wouldn't want to think we wasted $$$$ on the DC tickets. What do people think? Has anyone been in December before? What would you do?

Hi!

Haven't done DC ourselves yet, but our friends were out there for Xmas the year before last. They decided to book DC for Xmas day, (because they thought everywhere else would be too busy), and they had a fabulous day! The weather was ok, and she said it was the best day of their hol.

Been 5 times in Dec, not a chance I would book it. Some days could be warm enough some days you could need hats and gloves on all day, a lot of days start cold and warm up by lunch then go cold in evening again.
You have no idea.
I am a bit pathetic with cold though, I will only do a water park in August when its 90+

I have to agreed with wayneg, keep it for the height of summer. We went last December and for the most part had exceptional weather but did have a couple of cold days. On these days I had teeshirt, fleece, trousers and coat on but the majority of days just teeshirt and shorts.

On one of the really warm days we thought we would give the water rides at Islands a blast as we love them in the summer. It was NOT a pleasant experience the water was like it had be shipped in from the North Pole and we were freezing. As the water in DC is cold to start off with in the summer I dread to think how cold it must feel in the winter, even with the suits on.

If we go back in winter we will keep well away from water rides. We did go in the hotel pool once as it was heated but don't think we would bother doing that either.

Twice I have been daft enough to swim in Dec.
Dec 2000 we stayed at ASMovies, its was so cold that trip we had to de-ice car every morning. DS decided he wanted a swim, steam was rising from the pool. OK while in but so cold when we got out.
Other time Xmas 2004, Hilton LBV. it was sooo cold, again DS wanted a swim. Got out of pool and they had run out of towels, had to get to the room dripping wet and freezing.
Never again.

The things we do for our kids.

I think you feel the cold more in Florida because you expect it to be red hot as it is the majority of time so feeling cold/freezing just doesn't sit well in the brain.

Personally I wouldn't do DC in December.

We've been twice to Orlando in December, some days we were in shorts and hot, other days DDs were complaining bitterly of the cold. We've had the occasional dip in the pool but were able to pick the best days & times. Once you've booked DC you're stuck with whatever the weather throws at you that day.

Some friends of ours went to DC last October on a cool day and had a miserable experience. As the wetsuits keep the water in, rather than keeping it out, you end up colder wearing one.
