We are planning our lastest trip. When are schools out for summer locally and from near by neighboring areas? Our schools are our the last week of June. But we may pull the kids out to come earlier....

We're in So. Cal(the mojave desert) and our last day is May 21.

Our daughter, local private school, has her last day - 1/2 day - on Friday, June 5th. Another one, near by in Orange, has their last day - 1/2 day - on Wednesday, June 10th. Our son is at the public Middle School down the street and his last day - 1/2 day - is Thursday, June 11th. Most of these schools start in late August, so they are releasing in early June.

I've seen other posts on here and there seem to be a whole range of dates from end of May to about mid June. We are in N. Cal. and the school I work at gets out on June 3, DH's school doesn't get out until June 20th, which is why we aren't going until the end of June. I'm not sure you would really get any benefit from pulling them out early. Especially if their classes have fun things planned for the end of year like we do. It would be a shame to miss it.

Well, we don't live in California - but in my kid's Utah school gets out May 22. We will be in DLR Monday May 25 through Thurs. May 28.

uh, as a teacher can I politely suggest NOT pulling your kids out of school at the end to go to Disneyland. Especially if you have high school kids...finals ya know.

Slightly off subject here - WHY are the kids getting out so early!??

Mine (in AZ) get out 5/27 - whatever happened to Summer Vacation lasting from the 1st wk of June through Labor Day? Granted, summer vacation is long for me as a stay at home mom....but I really miss that old schedule. I don't need 1 wk breaks throughout the year (Fall & Spring). I wonder why it changed? I find it annoying.

Our summer has gotten shorter. In my case, the school gets out earlier than we used to but we go back in the middle of August. My boys' birthday is at the end of August. They used to have summer birthdays but now they are during school. I wish we could go back having June, July, and August off like when I was little. DH's school has "ski week" in the middle of Feb and so they must go longer in to June and still go back in August. I don't like it either.

We are in eastern side of SD and we get out May 22nd. We were suppose to be out earlier but have to make up snow days. We also start earlier apx 3rd week of August. School district changed things around to make room for tourist season with south dakota. I don't understand it but it kinda messes up volleyball and football season in the fall. Practices start 2nd week in August or a little sooner. (1st day they can legally start they are at practice!) My sister just graduated and has been done since the last week of April. The seniors at her school get done 1 month before the rest of the school (Nebraska).

It almost looks like school districts are trying to line themselves up with college schedule.

Well, from the sound of things, many schools are getting out this year on May 22nd just to celebrate my birthday!

Seriously, though, other than colleges, WOW that seems early! I guess school calendars have changed. I know I graduated HS (in So Cal) on June 22nd.

ETA: Just went and checked my alma mater HS's web site. They graduate this year on June 18th, last day of finals is June 17th. Nice to know some things are still the same.

OMG you guys sure get out early down there.....up here in Canada (well Alberta) our kids aren't done school until June 26th and we go back September 1st. Before Labour Day
