I'm glad you mentioned termites Sheryl, I would have forgotten to renew my policy. They sent the bill months in advance I completly forgot. I know when the chickadees are swooping the termites are swarming. I live near a National Park too, but ours provides greenheads instead of termites.

She is back in the hospital today for some invasive testing and we are all praying & hoping for the best.
I had actually called Greg to him about my "incident" that happened in my surgeon's office yesterday morning & tell him that I wouldn't be going to Boston & he just blurted out "my Mom has a mass in her lung". Hopefully we will know something by the end of the day

It's most likely arthritus in my jaw, so I'm going to be vigelant about trying glucosomene. I'm certainly not rushing into having the joint replaced, I'm not even brave enough to ask how it's done. They watched my heart & pressure & gave me oxygen. They think I had a severe reaction to all the medication they shot up my nose after sinus surgery

You can tell the waiter how much you each want to spend, what kinds of foods you like, etc. They will usually ask if there are allergies, vegetarians, people who like spice, etc. Now that we've been several times, we request the lettuce wraps and wok seared lamb and the rest we leave up to our waiter. A waiter or two in the past have said it's fun for them to get to showcase some of the lesser known dishes. Since they just charge you for the dishes they bring out, it usually isn't too pricey and you get a good variety. Last night, it was only $13 a piece which I don't think is bad for that much food to share I would assume you can do it for as many people as you want as long as you're willing to pay for it

I would have never ordered the lamb dish before a waiter brought it out for us one time. Now it's my favorite dish on the menu!

I would have her start with Petfinder... she can see which rescues/shelters in her area have Huskies and likely get some names of Husky rescues nearby. There are over 2000 Huskies on Petfinder right now - there is a Husky rescue near me, actually. Husky rescues, esp, will get puppies if they want a puppy (never again for me!) - if they are open to Husky mix dogs, there will be an endless supply. I'm not sure where you are located or I would track down some specific rescues for you. I'm fairly anti breeder unless it's a hard to find rare breed (which Huskies are not) - I just have a hard time with people producing pets when perfectly good purebreds are being killed BUT there are ways to find reputable breeders if she really is bent on finding one. Let her know that a good breeder will likely not have a puppy right now, they wait to make sure every potential puppy has a home before breeding, and she'll go through an application process. The breeder consider the dog to be her baby and wants to make sure they will be well cared for. I can send you some links on good breeders for reference if it's helpful, too. In the end, a rescue pup is cheaper, it saves a life, it supports a non profit, and if you get an older pup, you will already know their temperment and have a good idea of health issues. HTH!


I finally got home from my conference out of town - had to be out the door by 7am, which if you know me at all you know that is NOT an hour I see often. I am really tired. DH made noises about hitting up Taco Tuesday instead of cooking tonight. I'm game for that...

Afternoon, everyone! Well, the good news is I have my computer back. The bad news is that they weren't able to fix it, yet. Alan has to take it back in tomorrow. So, I most likely won't be on tomorrow. It's taken me a while to catch up. Sounds like I missed a lot in the 24 hours I didn't post!

Maria - I'm so sorry about Greg's mom. She will certainly be in my prayers. You, too, after your "incident". What a scary thing!

Ellen - Your family is in my prayers as you go through this deployment time. Just like Laura's family! You all sacrifice so much and do it for so little compensation. It can't be said enough: "Thank you all!"

Bethany - Just keep counting down the days and pretty soon you'll be on a plane to NOLA.

Becky - I can't stand fish, but your tuna pictures almost make me want to try it again! I'm guessing that fresh tuna would have to be better than the yellow fin that I got from my brother that was freezer burned. Right?

Laura - Congrats to Liam! What a fantastic game he had! Tell him I'm rooting for him all season long!

My poor Mom, she started her new job yesterday.....they called her as they were putting me in the ambulance (because Greg was on the train to Boston) & she appeared in the ER...stayed with me to drive me home then put a face on, dressed & went back to the ER until 1am this morning!
Her bos was very supportive being she was 3 hours late her first day. Her new boss took out my IV when I was discharged, what a day

Oh, dinner is a chicken from BJ's, (that I had to smell for the 1/2 hour ride home, I'm suprised there's any left) a starch, and a veggie.

It was a good day, I got a 2 hour nap in!

Those chickens from Sam's Club and BJ's are pretty darn good in a pinch!

Here is the recipe for the chimi's

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
1 tsp. crushed red pepper
8 Flour Tortillas
6 oz. VELVEETA , cut into 8 slices ( I used sliced cheddar)
2 cups oil
1/4 cup Sour Cream
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro

BROWN meat in large skillet on medium-high heat; drain. Add onions, garlic, oregano and pepper; mix well. Cook until onions are tender, stirring occasionally; drain. (added taco seasoning)

PLACE 1/4 cup meat mixture onto center of each tortilla; top with VELVEETA. Fold in all sides of tortillas to completely enclose filling; secure with wooden toothpicks. Place in single layer on baking sheet; cover. Refrigerate 20 min.

HEAT oil in large saucepan on medium-high heat. Add tortilla pouches, 2 at a time; cook 5 min. or until golden brown. Drain. Remove toothpicks. Serve topped with sour cream and cilantro.


I put the pouches in a baking dish sprayed with pam and then sprayed again over the top and baked them in a 400 oven till crispy about 10 minutes

Pretty tasty.

We went to a party last year, just down the road at that Cajun place in Crownpoint, at dusk they were everywhere! It was almost frightening, we were knocking them off of each other, drinks, chairs, we stopped eating because you couldn't keep them off of the food! It was gross.

We had shredded chicken soft tacos, with beans, spicy slaw, guacamole & the most important Margaritas on the rocks!

Thank goodness, I turned off the light early tonight & no termites crawling or flying around in the house.

Good morning...I am all off today. woke up an hour late, A took a 2 minute shower and then off to the bus. i am now giving T a bottle.

dinner is on the run tonight. a and i are getting haircuts...i am getting highlights and pedicure too. then we have batting cage practice.

Sheryl, you guys are just as important as family...you guys are like my therapy. all of us here on the wfd have been through so much together. i really appreciate everyone understanding how busy i am now.
