Cabin Key for 2 rooms - The DIS Discussion Forums

HI. Can a Cabin Key be keyed for 2 rooms? My son is technically staying in my mother's room (he was on the cruise last year so he is the one that helped get the OBC). But he will need to be able to get into our room. He's 9. Can his key be done to let him in both rooms?

I'm assuming you don't have connecting cabins? If you so then you can just keep the connecting door proped open so he can get into it without needing a key to your room. If not, I've never heard of this but I could be wrong.

We had connecting cabins on our last cruise. We were told that we change the cabin on our Key to The World card.

However, Guest Services gave us a separate keycard. It was not a Key To the World Card, but a Gold/Blue keycard with the DCL artwork on it. It had no identification marks, but it enabled us to open the door for the other cabin. Perhaps they would make a separate key card that would unlock the other room as they did for us.

Correct, you will need a 2nd, separate key. One KTTW card cannot have 2 rooms on it.

Correct....a KTTW cannot be keyed to more than one cabin (or if it can, they won't do it!) However, they will issue as many "blank" keys as you need. This is a key that will open the door to whatever room you specify, but can't be used to get on or off the ship or to charge.

THey made our lives very easy. Since my "real" KTTW card was the blue/gray Goofy card, the "blank" was a white Donald" card. I had people in 2 cabins, but as the mom, wanted access to both rooms.

We've done some passenger-juggling to get the Florida resident discount on multiple rooms, so we've had to use the blank keys a couple of times. Basically you'll use your official Key to the World card for identification and shipboard purchases, and the "blank" key card just to access your room.

We were told we had to do it at GS after boarding....but there was NO problem getting it. Others have reported CM doing it at check in.

Just like the pp stated, it is fairly quick and easy. We just did this a couple of weeks ago, while everyone was seated for lunch, I went over to the guest services desk and informed them that my KTTW needed access to another cabin. They gave me an additional non-identifying blank card to be used only as a key to the cabin. Ours was white and had Donald on it. The KTTW that we were given on check in was used for identification and purchasing purposes
