we stayed at Pop this past week. We originally got the preferred room, then when I found out about the lake view I called back, but was told with the deal I got had no standard rooms left. We were given a second room floor in the 60's facing the other 60's building. it was awesome, quiet, close to the parking lot, bus stops, and food! The only problem we had was even with the ac set at 68 (lowest it goes), it was still warm and humid in our room. We were able to sleep comfortable at night, though.

will you get it if you request it?
Maybe I'm not supposed to ask a question on somone else's thread and if so, please forgive me. I'm going to Disney in Sept and I'm not paying for preferred and I would like the 4th floor lake view myself, but if what I've heard is correct, a request for a certain area/building is not a guarantee right? What if she drops the preferred and Disney doesn't honor her request? Is it usually pretty easy to get them to give you what you ask for? Sorry again if I messed up this thread.

If since quiet is most important, the request should be "facing the lake, building 3, fourth floor" on the theory that one's most important request should appear first.

If you have a car 50s is closest to the parking lot from the parking lot side on 4th floor you can see the fireworks from Epcot

For my first stay at Pop I was in the 50's section, building 3, 3rd floor, facing the lake. It looked far on the map but it really was not. It was nice and quiet during the day and night and I didn't see many people in the halls (it was during off peak). It was a short walk from the buses and food court. I was able to make it to the food court, get coffee, and back to the room before DBF was dressed and ready.

But if you drop the preferred, won't you be charged for down grading?

Only if you drop it within the 45 day time and only of you have booked a package. At Pop, preferred mainly means clost to the main pool, food court and busses. You dont' want any of that, so you don;t need preferred IMO. Your best choices are 50's bldgs 3 (std view, not preferred) or 2 ; 70's bldg 6 (std not preferred; I have stayed here and it's closer to the room to park at the dividing line of 70's and 80). 80's bldg 7 is not as close to the lake but you cna see it from the backside. As for lake vie wfrom any of these as the bldgs have rooms on both sides. Here's a great map of the bldg locations and which are preferred: http://www.************/maps/wdw/reso...op.pdf#page=02

Preferred is such a subjective term. I prefer to be facing the lake in a nice quiet room rather than be close to the pool and food court! My DS and I had a 4th floor room facing the lake (60's maybe?). It was a bit of a walk to the car and food court, but well worth the quiet.
So OP to answer your question, I would save the money and get a non preferred room and then put in your room request. |

Does anyone have a MAP of this resort?
Is the bus stop close to the pool and food court. Being closest to the bus stop is now a second priority (right behind quiet and being able to sleep) since we are not renting a car anymore.

There's a map in the Groovy Pop Century thread in the WDW Resort FAQ and Information Threads "sticky". There's a map in the WDW Resorts Smoke Free / With Maps "sticky". Both threads are listed at the top of each page on the Resorts forum.

We were on the third floor of the 90's - facing the pool. SO quiet *except the night that the fire alarms went off at the 80's section and they stayed on for over an hour...but I digress*. And, we were in 8363, so down some stairs and you were at the parking lot! Cross the parking lot and you were at Classic Hall and the busses. Perfect location, quiet, close.
I would TOTALLY drop the preferred and just ask to be on a higher floor in a quiet section ![]() Have fun! |

I agree with other posters. Last August, we were in building 7, 80's section top floor, last room (by the Rubiks cube stairwell). It was great! So quiet, and we had a view of the lake (and this was one of the few rooms still available as we checked in late in the day - start of free dining). No one walks by your room as they all take the elevator.
The CM checking us in told me this was a good room and he was right!

How and when do you request a room? Last year we got in the 60's building non-preferred facing lake and it was great. Now I'm wondering about requesting. Do I just do it when I am checking in or should I call ahead of time, or have my TA call?
