IMO water view rooms at POR are not worth the extra $$$ for a two week stay. From my past visits, water view rooms can be of the river, the quiet pool, or of a pond like feature they have in front of some of the buildings.

The first time we took the kids in 2003, we stayed for 18 nights and we did not have a bad view from our standard view room.

it is really important to request a specific bld for por. we were in building 17 and 18 (2 different stays), both were excellent. short walk to bus pickup and food court, very near a quiet pool. if you don't request you could be in the back of the resort and standing up on each bus.

The first thing you will want to do is decide if you want to request Magnolia Bend (the mansions) or Alligator Bayou. From there, look at a map with the building numbers and decide where you would like to request a room.
Here is a map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/port-riverside.htm

I was in room 9547, and if you were standing in the doorway, you had a view of the river, but you wouldn't be able to see it from the room, so it was a standard room. It was just a few minutes to walk to the main bus stop and a couple extra minutes to get to the food court, but was actually the furthest of the mansions (as you can see in the map).

Once you know generally where you want to be, you can call and put in a request for that building or area, and when you are checking in, remind them that you would like to be in that area. It is just a request though...they cant guarantee that you will get the building or area you want.

Have a great trip!

I wouldn't bother paying for Waterview -- it's really not worth it in my opinion. Like previous poster I'd be more concerned requesting a certain building over view.

Water view rooms at the moderates are not worth the added expense. All of the rooms at the moderates open onto public walkway, think motel, and they do not have balconies.

I'll echo what others have said--not worth the money, but keep in mind that ANY request, is just that--a REQUEST--you are not guarnateed to get the section or building you ask for.

I changed my waterview to a standard and saved $250. for 9 nights - I realized no balcony could be a waterview of a fountain, why bother.
