Ooh I know some other people going to that show. It sounds like lots of fun. Please take lots of pics!!! (I know they don't allow it but try to sneak some please!!!)
I have the same dillema as you do! I love the idea of a scavenger hunt! I was thinking of a treasure hunt on CC. I am also trying to get a section of a beach roped off so we can all sit together. Can everyone in your group do an excursion after? Maybe like the glass bottom boat or something? If you don't have old or young people maybe the jet skis? Please let me know what you think of I am trying so hard to come up with something fun for us to do too. |

I love the scavenger hunt idea!! I used to do this in college all the time. We really made every one look stupid like sign a song on a street corner, find a "celebrity" (in other words find someone random on the street that looks like a celebrity) and take a picture, my favorites are always when you have to involve random people walking down the street.

That and it's a really sneaky way of getting everyone's wedding photos off of their cameras!!! I think I'll have my sister bring her laptop, then burn all of the photos to a CD for anyone who wants them. Or, alternatively post them to photobucket or the like after the cruise. The only other idea for a shore excursion I had was the stingray adventure. My thoughts were that the largest cross-section of our guests might enjoy it. But, I don't know if people might prefer to do their own thing after the Palo reception. I kinda want to keep things as open-ended as possible, because it is their vacation as well, and the most important thing for me is that everyone is relaxed and enjoys themselves. Overall, after the reception, I think the way we'll go is say something like "Shannon and Rich will be at the far end of the family beach, you are welcome to join them if you would like". That way no one feels obligated to do exactly what we are. If it could be done (I don't know, and it would likely cost a pretty penny) might be to take everyone to Studio Sea and do an impromptu game show on stage. Maybe like "How well do you know the bride & groom", or Disney trivia. Also, I believe I read that Castaway Cay has a treasure hunt already put together. The prize at the end is a coin or something like that! Maybe you could up the stakes, like the first team/person to complete gets a prize, or a spa appointment. Quote:
I think I'll definitely have to include the "celebrity" idea!Up Next: Mini NYC TR

My idea of a fun reception involves lots of fruity little drinks and yummy desserts with different dipping sauces..
![]() But the scavenger hunt sounds fun too!

Just found your PJ and love the scavenger hunt idea! I think it's perfect! It's fun, non-traditional, AND economical! We have a lot in common as well... I also currently live in Minneapolis and we are having a tropical theme wedding with our main colors being pink and green(we are having an escape at sunset pointe though)! Can't wait to follow along with your plans (and probably steal some of your ideas
). I love the ribbon wands and your dress is really pretty- where did you get it at?

Nyc!!
So here is my version of the events as they happened...
Day 1- Arrive at MSP, eat a quick sandwich and meet up with some of my coworkers. Yes, this is a business trip, but believe me there's no way I'm going to NYC without having a good time!! The CEO of our company chats us up, and oh so casually mentions he has "a guy" and that we'll all be going to Yankee Stadium to see the Yankees/Twins play. HOLD THE PRESSES!! Wait, What?? This has suddenly made up for so much in the workplace! Then, the sinking feeling, um Shannon you are from Massachusetts... If there were a place in this world that would be the most unfriendliest for people from Massachusetts, I do believe Yankee Stadium would be the place! Let's all hope and pray I make it through this bit alive! Well the flight to JFK was uneventful. You can see Manhattan (or at least in my imaginary world) if you look really, really closely- ![]() We all pile into a taxi and head to the Big Apple. Now our taxi driver is flying like a bat out of hell (or Queens). We get to the city and another taxi driver cuts him off, but cannot complete the cutting off due to a red light. Both windows are down, and our taxi driver starts schooling the other said taxi driver about the rules of the road. It's just hilarious watching them go back and forth. "You are two inches from my cab, how do you think you got two inches from my cab!" Anyways, we checked into the Hilton Garden Inn and find a hole-in-the-wall Italian place that was very yummy, and had baked clams. It was the closest thing to one of my most favorite foods in the world, stuffed quahog. I can't even think about getting this in Minnesota, so this was a close enough cousin! (Sorry I don't have any food porn )But, here's a pic of stuffed quahog from the net- ![]() And the view from our room- ![]() Day 2- Day 2 started pretty early. It was time for that thing called work, and the start of the National Stationery Show. I got to meet a lot of people I work with on a daily basis, but rarely see which was nice. After work commenced, a coworker of mine and I decided it would be a great thing to see the sites! (and have a few drinks along the way..) We started at a great French restaurant called Pigalle. I highly recommend the Lemoncello! It was a fantastic little concoction! After that we wandered about Times Square. Insert ubiquitous picture here- ![]() Found Rockefeller Center- ![]() Last year we did "Top of the Rock". That is an experience I will not do again! I'm not overly afraid of heights, but this one really did it in for me! I think it was the swaying of the building that sent me screaming for mommy!! ![]() Flags from RC- ![]() Who's that sitting in Matt Lauer's chair?? ![]() After this we holed up in an Irish Bar until the very wee hours..

Day 3
Day 3 happens to be Yankees/Twins day!! Again, it was the start to a very early morning. Lots of Visine! Work, was well work. As soon as the show closed for the day we made a mad dash to the subway and the new Yankee Stadium! All of this was very exciting, but also a bit odd. My family happens to be Boston sports nuts, and entering the home of A-Rod and Mr. Jeter just seemed very wrong deep down inside. My co-worker threatened that if I blew my cover as a Boston fan, she would shank me herself! ![]() But, back to the story at hand! We arrive at the new Yankee Stadium just as the first pitches are being thrown. We head up to the will-call line, to grab our tickets ...and well there aren't any.... . Lots of texting and phone calls later, we're told to go to the VIP line (woo hoo we are VIPS!!) Not so much there either... More texting and phone calls ensued..Suddenly we are whisked off to the Yankee offices, yes I said Yankee offices! Given tickets by a very nice lady in a suit, and go up a private elevator to our seats!!!! Whooo!! We had regular seats, but they were still pretty darn good!!! Go my company!! ![]() Here's some pics- ![]() ![]() In the end the Twins lost But it was a really good time overall!

Day 4-
Day 4 was mostly uneventful. I worked, and we caught a flight home. Nothing too big to report. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any of my own photos of the show. Here's my best recreation from the web-There was some Disney stationery I hadn't seen before by InScribe. Most of it may be too casual for wedding invites, but still very cute! ![]() ![]() I also saw this Kirstie Kelly number- ![]() It looked really great in person! The one thing I really wished I had a photo of were these candy cupcakes that could be used as favors. I tried googling it but came up empty. They were basically a sweet tart type candy in different shapes melded together to form a cupcake. There was a gumdrop at the top and a cupcake foil, and the whole thing was shrink wrapped. Super cute!

We do have a lot in common! Thank you for following along! Feel free to steal away!!! I just started on your PJ as well! ![]() I got the dress on Ebay, but am starting to have some second thoughts about it. It needs some major surgery before I can wear it. The ribbon wands came from a seller on Etsy (I love that site!!)

Oh! I almost forgot! At the show I met up with an old boss of mine, who I would go so far as to say she was probably the best boss I've ever had! She's heading up a brand new company called Green Stationery, Inc. It has a really great modern style, with just a touch of cuteness! It's also 100% post consumer content.
The link isn't working yet, but when it does here is the site- Green Stationery Buy it all up, so I can go back to work for her!!
