8/2 Weekend Wrap Up

Hi,

I am really proud of myself this weekend. Very few snacks between meals. Worked hard to make good choices. I tried to eat one plate and then be done. Not eating after dinner is getting easier. I think on Friday night I had a fruit popsicle before 8:30.

Sat: Spinning bike resistance gear frozen in easy mode. I did that for about 12 minutes then did LS for 20 min. Also walked dogs 1.2 mi. Did squats during laundry.

Sun: DH fixed spinning bike. Spun about 20 minutes, walked dogs about a mile. Also played ball in the pool so I didn't just laze around.

Wt this am: #176.4

Bx: Coffee (30 cal), 20 oz water, (180 cal) Luna protein bar.
Work: 20 oz water so far
Exercise: 8 extra flights of stairs so far today. Going for 8 each day this week.


I need to be patient that this weight isn't going to 'melt off'. To lose weight, I need to undercut 1500 calories a day and exercise. A lot of the changes I am making will just make me maintain.

Goals this week:

1. Walk up 4 flights to my office each day this week (doubling effort)
2. Spin 30 min T/R/Sat + walk dogs
3. Mon & Wed - walk 2 miles.
4. Sun - start C25K.

It is going to be hot this week.

8/2 Lunch

Lunch:

Amy's Teriyaki Tofu Bowl - 320 cal + 1/2 svg veggie sticks (65 cal) + 1 diet coke, + 1 cup sweet cherries (74 cal) + 6 oz V8 (30 cal)

This leaves 800 calories for remainder of day. I have to run errands after work, so I do have a banana to eat later.

I did lift some 10 pound weights for a bit of upper arm work after lunch.

Pre Dinner snack while shopping: 20 oz water + 1/2 banana (55 cal)
Dinner: 4 oz ribeye (300 cal), 1 broiled tomato with parmesan cheese (60 cal), corn muffin (180 cal).

After Dinner: 1 glass wine (160 cal) I mixed with sparkling water for 2 drinks over a 2 hr period.

Late eve: very stressed for somethign sweet. ate one jolly rancher (23 cal)

Total: 778 (WOW right on the button!)

Exercise: Nada. Played Monopoly with DS.

8/3 No weight today.

Bfst: lf granola (100 cal) mixed into small activia yogurt (140 cal), coffee with 2T skim milk (10 cal)= 250
1.5 Liter Water, 24 oz diet Coke
Lunch: chicken with vegetables & cashews (300 est), 1 cup cherries (74) =374
Total 624

Exercise: 4 flights extra today.

Dinner (on the run btwn guitar,school, voting): Wendys side garden salad (120)+ diet soda+Jr burger (280)+estimate fries shared + 3 spoons of frosty (80)= 480

Exercise: Did walk dogs in neighborhood just before dark. Maybe a mile.


8/4: Wt: 176.2
1 am: dry throat/insomnia-water + 1 jolly rancher (23)


Bx: 2 hb eggs (140), 10 oz v8 (65), 1 cup cherries (74)
Lunch WW eng muffin sandwich (210) + 1 cup cherries (74)
1 liter water so far, 24 oz diet coke. = 586 so far today. Leaves about 714 for evening...

Exercise: 4 extra flights + 15 min walk at work.

8/4 Dinner
Alright. Clearly ate too much last night! Craving carbs & chocolate for the usual reason.
1 slice little caesar's pizza (280 cal), 4 breadsticks (400 cal), 1/3 antipasto salad (58)
Eve Snack: 2 fun size M&M packets (148), 1 fun size 1000 grand bar (95)
Total =981 + 586 = 1567 (Not horrific, but definitely over 1300 Goal)

Exercise: Swam around moderately in pool for 30 min.

8/5: Wt 176.2
Bx: Luna protein bar (180), water
Lunch: 1/3 anipasto salad (58), small steak sandwich with cheese (est 280), mashed potatoes (est 200), 1 cup cherries (74)

Total so far= 792: 508 for tonight

Exercise: 4 extra flights,

I feel pretty full still at 3:41 PM so maybe I need to eat a bigger lunch? We'll see how evening progresses...

Dinner: 4 oz italian beef with no bread (est 280). 4 oz wine mixed with no calorie sparking water (est 85), tortilla chips (150 cal).

Exercise: Walked rather slowly about 1.4 mi in PM with dogs & chattering DS.

Not feeling particularly great last night. DS ate pistachios in front of me for about 20 min before I finally gave in. Ate some pistachios about 9:30 PM. Dug out a lot of empty shells and also shelled for the dogs, so I estimate I ate about 30 kernels (120 cal).

Total = 555 = 1347 total for day. Not too bad.

8/6 - Wt #176.2 (ho hum)

My weight is pretty depressing. I need to up my exercise to start dropping. The only thing I realized today is I do have my period now and I haven't gained the usual 2-5 lbs.

Weekend goal:

Tonight - swim
Sat - walk dogs 2 mi in am
Sun - spin 30 min.
Mon restart C25K

I need to look at C25K and decide what week I am going to start on. It is going to be humid next week & I'm a little worried about my foot, so nothing miraculous.

Friday: Breakfast & lunch were good. No exercise in evening.
Sat: Spun < 30 min.
Bx: coffee & Luna protein bar
Lunch: 1/2 BLT wrap, small cup tomato basil soup, iced tea, 1 slice strawberry rhubarb pie.
Snack: 1 cup cherries
Dinner: 3 fruity alcohol drinks, 1 slice fairly thick crust pizza, shared salad.
Snack: 1 cup cherries and 3 fun size peppermint patties.

Sun: 1+ mile walk in heat, C25K
Bx: 2 HB eggs, 1 60 cal yogurt, coffee
Lunch: 3 sm red potatoes, 1 svg BBQ pork, 1 svg corn, 1 svg green beans
Snack: 1 single butter pecan sugar cone
Dinner: 1/2 Oriental chicken salad, 2 raspberry iced T, 6 bites ice cream/cake.
Snack: 4 fun size reese's pb cups, 1 cup cherries.

Mon: weight 178.2

Bx: luna protein bar (180 cal), diet soda,
Water: 40 oz so far.
Lunch: 1/2 Oriental chicken salad, 20 oz diet coke.

Dinner: Cracker Barrell:2 slices french toast (est 340 cal), 2 egg beaters (est 60 cal), 1 turkey saus patty (est 50 cal), 2 raspberry iced tea (est 120)
Snack: LATE!! 10:30 PM Scooby snacks (200 cal), sweet tea (90 cal est)
OVER - est 1464 (Goal is to be between 1200-1300 QD)
Exercise: Zippo.

8/11 Wt today: 178.8 (absolutely depressing)
Bx: 12 oz diet coke, 180 cal Luna Bar, 1 cup cherries (74 cal)

10/19 Reset


Weight on Sunday: #179.4

Man oh man do I keep stopping at that weight or what?

Here's my plan:

1. Drink water. This is an established habit already and not a problem.
2. Stop eating after 8 PM. (This is goal #1)
3. Exercise 30 min each day (I've had some real success here lately but I need to make it a habit).
4. Keep a food journal.

So I'm working on 2 & 3.
I do keep food journals a lot. This has discouraged me in the past as my calories are in the range where I should lose weight, but it doesn't happen fast enough or it doesn't happen. Then I give up. I'm still concerned that hormones or some ongoing yeast infection is wreaking havoc with my system.

I will keep a food journal for a month and just see what happens.

New Year, New Focus (1/18/11)

Hello, I've been here numerous times. Each time I just keep gaining weight back. It is pretty evident that I can't eat and cheat when I was younger.

So I picked something tough to draw a line in the sand. Something I thought would be simple to follow and would cut out my cravings. When this first 43 days are over, I will continue to eat 'clean'. I will now weigh myself every day. If I want to be a slim person, I cannot eat like I did before. If I don't believe my own body, I only have to look at the women in my family to see further evidence. Also, I eat emotionally. I feel like a lot of this weight is 'left over' from a crisis that happened in fall 2007 and I've been struggling ever since with my weight even though emotionally I am in a good place emotionally.

So today is VLCD Day 1. It is 9:30 am. I finished loading last night. I was very lucky to start loading in New Orleans. I had a lot of fun with my DH for a long weekend. I also exercised 30 minutes each day in the gym in addition to the tons of walking we did.

Goal #1 Follow the Diet
Goal #2 Exercise 30 minutes each day

Since I'm not eating too much, I can't exercise too heavily. My exercise plan is to walk at work this week for 15 minutes qd, then walk the dogs about 20 minutes in the evening or do some Leslie Sansone with 2 lb handweights. Sat and Sun I hope to walk further with the dogs, but the weather has been icy. If I can't walk outside on the weekends, I'll do a 30 minute spinning session.

Starting Weight: terrifying # 185.8

1/17 Food Diary

cottage cheese with 2 cups lettuce - 95 c
lean ground beef (185c), 2 c salad, 4 radishes (1 calorie each)= 204
2 grissini bread sticks (25 c each) = 50
1 orange - 62
Total calories: 473
Ooops. A little under.

Water/tea: 90 oz.

I did walk 15 min at work (approx 1 mi) and 15 min LS @ home.

Attitude: Trying to visualize how changing how I eat permanently will help me be more healthy. Being this restrictive to lose weight is fine, but afterwards I am still going to have to portion control and track what I eat.

1 large apple - 116 c

Total calories: 533
Ooops. A little over.

Water/tea: 90 oz.

Exercise: Walked with a friend for an hour @ work!

Attitude: Still amazed that I am not particularly hungry. I'm a little worried about eating out as DH loves to eat out. I know I can make it work, but for some reason I seem to miss the idea that I can have a glass of wine more than anything so far. Also really missing my sugar free Extra gum. BUT, when I weigh in, I decide it is worth it!

1/21 Cheatin' Shame on Me

Well just as I thought, DH would be my undoing. Took me to an Italian restaurant for a nice meal out without DS last night. I faltered a little.

1/20 Food Diary
1 coffee with stevia
1 large orange - 86 c
cottage cheese with 2 cups lettuce - 95 c
3 small shrimp - estimate 112 c
1/2 stewed tom - est 14 c
2 spears asparagus - est 10
4 0z orange roughy - est 120
Italian bread, 2 small pieces dipped in olive oil! 260 c est
1 piece of gum at work due to stress!
84 oz water
Total cal 697!

Walked 30 min @ work yesterday!

Weight this am: #180.8 (sigh)

I do have some notes for myself. One, my TOM is starting. Two, even though I wanted chocolate at work due to stress, I settled on a piece of gum and was actually pretty satisified with that. I did make it through a nice meal without a glass of wine. DH adorable in splitting an entree with me. I could not resist the bread when they put out the olive oil. I did savor the pieces and not suck them down like before. Also, I resolved to not have my second fruit to offset last night. I marched upstairs and brushed my teeth and it wasn't awful not eating.

That is another thing I realized this am. The No S diet helped me stop eating between meals and only night snacking was my downfall. This diet has me learning to be satisfied with a piece of fruit - or nothing at all.

Peace to me. Marching forward! All my food is set up for work and dinner is set at home.

1/22 Saturday!

Friday Food report:
EXCELLENT!
Only cheat spot was I totally got flushed and worked up at work late in the afternoon, so I did allow myself one piece of sugar free gum. I have always chewed sugar free gum - probably 10-20 pieces a day! So if I am down to 1 piece on stressful days only, I'll take this monumental change in my behavior!

I am surprised how little I have missed my Diet Coke too. Every time I want to cheat, I envision the scale and the impact of the cheat. I am not hungry with the HCG.

Exercise: walked 30 min @ work - decent pace.

Weight this AM: #179.4 - Down 6.4 total

Sat plan:
have a grapefruit on the counter.
Plan to walk the mall while DS is at a bday party.
Also plan to finish a grocery list as Sunday I plan to cook a few meals out of HCG Cookbook ahead.

Notes: Eat off a luncheon plate if I am not eating salad. I was dismayed to see how small my pre-weighed chicken was once it cooked... But then I had to laugh thinking how seriously I have overeaten my protein in the past...

I'm trying to think of this as a spiritual journey too. I am ridding myself of emotional eating baggage. I keep visualizing myself in a certain pair of jean capris as my first goal weight. Well I am off to work in my office for an hour. I'm trying to declutter too!
