On our upcoming trip at AKL I am very very excited to try Zebra Domes! I also plan on getting a beignet if we stop by POFQ.

I was wondering if all resorts have a special food individual to them? Photos would be great too!! Nummmmm! (I'd love to see one of the crazy cheesecake at Pop!!)

Olivia's Cafe at Old Key West have a fantastic Key Lime Tart. They told us that this was the only dessert that was made right there.

Pop Century has

TV Diners. It was a few year ago but they had meatloaf, fried chicken and I don't remember the rest. The cool thing was it was served in those 3 part metal trays. They were like the Swanson Frozen diners. They also had a Tie Dye Fluff-a-Nuttier sandwich. We're DVC members but the kids asked if we could go to Pop next year. Great memories. I know there are more at other resorts but I haven't tried them. Now that we belong to DVC we are exploring the other resort and spending less time in the parks. 23 days till my next trip home. Have a magical time.

I don't know if this counts, but BC has the Beaches and Creme ice cream place which makes the Kitchen Sink?

Polynesian has a couple...Tonga Toast and Macadamia Nut Pancakes

POR used to have Sweet Potato Pancakes

POFQ also has jambalaya

Pop also has the tye dye cheese cake. I am not sure but I think they are also the only place to get coke slushies???

BC and CSR both have gelato...

A note about the Zebra Domes, yes they were yummy, but I was very disappointed to find out they, like most of the desserts at Boma contain alcohol.

I couldn't believe it, almost all of the desserts had alcohol, I was very sad that DD couldn't try them.

This trip I'm going to let her eat them, maybe one of each. How much alcohol do you think is in them? I don't think it is much, I couldn't taste it.

Maybe none at all actually. The alcohol evaporates in the cooking process, it's just used for taste. Even in desserts I think it should evaporate enough that nothing will happen even if you eat quite a few! I say you'll definitely be ok letting her try one...or two

Just an FYI - no one is going to get drunk from them, but there is approximately 1/4 of an ounce of Kahlua in each zebra dome. And it is NOT evaporated. In fact, the idea that alcohol always cooks out of food is not actually true - scientific experiments with alcohol cooked in food have found that it takes a good 3 hours to evaporate alcohol, and the temp. must be at least a "simmer" for that long. Anyway, zebra domes are not actually cooked...the chocolate is melted, but the rest of the ingredients are basically put over a "hot bath" for a few minutes to dissolve the gelatin, then it's all mixed together & refrigerated to set.
