Talking Becky and Jeff- 2/8/10 BW Croquet Lawn/LSS/UK Lochside- TR- Update 8/8 dessert party

I've been reading these boards for a little over a year now. I thought that now that we had been firming up plans with family and friends it was about time I posted my own PJ.

Our Story

How we met:
In June of 2005 I moved to Orlando permanently after having done the College Program from May '04 to January '05. I had gotten a job at an architecture office and a part time position at Guest Relations at the Magic Kingdom. Both jobs kind of just fell in my lap after months of stressing and longing to be back in Florida.
I was moving down with my roommate from my CP and she was going to be an Intern at MKGR as well. My first week was spent going through all of my Disney training and then I started at my fulltime 9-5 boring day job lol.
Well I was included in all intern activities since I trained with them and one of the traditions for interns is the former class conducts a scavenger hunt through the MK one night. So the 8 of us are rocking our way through some clues and get to our last one. A few of the guys think the clue is sending us to Toontown, but I knew it was the Main Street cinema.
Now part of what made the scavenger hunt tricky was we didn't necessarily know who we were looking for at each stop. We were running WAY ahead of schedule so as we set off to the cinema the former interns were hoping we wouldn't find the person stationed in there. Low and behold we arrive and my roommate recognizes the guy right away and runs right over. It was Jeff. She had met him on our CP and he had actually gotten her interested in being in Guest Relations.
So that is how we first met.
He was the last stop on a scavenger hunt!
It took several months for us to start hanging out and eventually go on our first date as I only worked weekends and sometimes he would have a Sat or Sun off However in July my best friend decided she wanted to come back down to Orlando too. She came in on the autotrain one weekday and I met her at a Wendy’s and escorted her to our apartment. After she unpacked I immediately took her to MK to try and find Jeff so she could meet him, and we weren't even dating yet!
After several encounters involving stolen shoes, Sea World tickets, and over booked tours we had our first date.
Dinner at Boma. It was fantastic! We ended up staying in the lobby talking for a long time. He gave me a green crayon from the big bowl of coloring supplies at Boma because I had told him I loved green. Now whenever we go somewhere that has crayons he gets me one.

Ok picture time:

Here is one of the first ones of us. It's taken outside Jellyrolls about a month
after we started dating. Sorry it's a bit blurry and He's wearing my sunglasses.

We're kinda weird like that lol

Here is a more recent pic.

This is us in October at our friends DFTW. We are in the Boardwalk convention center.

And here is us with Jeff's favorite character of all time... Ensign Benson

Since we changed from DCL to WDW here are some links to important stuff that is still relevant:

Bridesmaid dress
Monogram
Ceremony location - Boardwalk Croquet Lawn
Shoes
Bouquet inspiration
Tasting Session
fascinator
Invitations
Photography
Reception site- Living Seas Salon
Bridesmaid floral = pinwheels

Wedding Theme

After thinking about it for a long time I decided on having an Art Deco insipred wedding to go along with the ship.

Here are the invitations I like. I found them on etsy!

My colors are that bright ocean blue on the invites and green. As previously stated I green!

I have so much more to share but not enough time right now.
More later....

The Dress

Well I'd always said I wanted to wear a green dress. I love the color, I look bad in white since I am so pale, and the whole white wedding dress thing seams to be running the end of its hundred year course. So over the past year or so I've collected pictures of green dresses I like :

But now that I am getting more into the details I realize that a white dress has one great advantage: I can accessorize in whatever colors I want. Whereas with a green dress I'd have to go with either neutral accessories or match the shade of the dress. So I think I am going to give white a try.

Now let me tell you dress shopping does not exactly bring a smile to my face. I love clothes and I love looking at pictures of dresses and I can be pretty stylish. However for my college graduation after much heated debate it was decided that my school would wear black dresses for our ceremony. Ugh! shopping for that dress still haunts me five years later. I was soo over trudging through stores and locking myself in a room with all the dresses. I finally found one though, but I hated the experience.

So I'm going to give white dresses a try. My parents are coming down during my mom's spring break and I think I'm going to pry them away from the parks so that I can take my mom dress shopping. I really don't want to go to David's or Alfred Angelo as I have been to both for bridesmaids dresses and I'm not a fan. I don't like the idea of having a "dress twin" I tend to hyperventilate when someone is wearing the same thing as me. (I had to somewhat get over that during the three years I wore a costume at Disney)

My mom keeps trying to get me to wear her dress. She got married in 1977 and was a size 4. Her dress has a turtle neck! Well not really, but it might as well. Also it has long sleeves. Not my thing. I tried to tell her that it wouldn't work for me as I wanted to have a green dress. She said we could dye it.
I think after a day of dress shopping she may offer to make one for me. She made all my Halloween costumes and a few dresses for me growing up, but I don't think I'd want her doing my wedding dress.

Favors

I was perusing the sites that Toni posted on the main forum (Thanks Toni! ) and I found where you can customize poker chips.

DBF loooves poker and so do his brothers. He has taken me gambling a few times and introduced me to keeping a $1 chip from each casino you go to.

I told him about them and he was ecstatic. Said it was the best thing he had ever heard. So we are going to look into it. For an extra $10 you can put custom artwork, so I'm going to start playing around with a wedding logo or monogram to use.

I think it's a pretty unique favor, and heck it's gotten him excited about a detail for the wedding, so I'm all for it

Wedding Logo/Monogram

I came up with this logo to use on the poker chips and anything else that comes along and needs a logo!

Wow! Everything looks great so far! I think if you have the confidence to wear green you should go for it! The invitations are very cute and I like your logo!

DF and I met while working at Disney. We considered a DCL wedding but are going with Shades of Green because we want a lot of our family to be able to come!!!

I'm officially hooked, so keep me updated!!!

yey! I have a reader!
That's awesome that you met at Disney too.
Don't worry I have a few updates that I will post a little later. Have to type it all up.
However one big update involves a RING!

You have soem amazing ideas for your wedding and the green colours will go beautifully with you skin tone and hair colour (I am thinking Amy Adams at the Oscars/Golden Globes!).

jeeze that ring is stunning.

I have an emerald ring- DF got it for me 2 christmasses ago, he used to call me emeraldcitygirl .. (he loves Wizard of Oz)..so yay for youre ring!!!

I love the poker chip ideas- so unique!!

Hey - you get a green dress if you want a green dress!! If youre heart is set on it, then there is no changing your mind- no matter how many white dresses you put on, those green dresses will be in your mind.

I love the fact that you are going for the whole green / emerald colour for your wedding.. i dont think you would need to accessorize if you are wearing a green dress? It would be perfect just by itself.

look forward to hearing more plans!!

Engagement Story

On Saturday we had planned to go to Busch Gardens since we have Annual Passes and had not been in awhile. I thought that DF had requested Fri/Sat off from work for this reason. We got up and on our way to Tampa pretty early and had a fabulous day at the park with very few lines. We had planned to go to one of our favorite fast food places Guthries for dinner after the park. However we ate a somewhat late lunch and were pretty much done with the park at 3pm. So we decided to head home. DF had suggested we could still go and get take out, but I didn’t mind missing out.

When we were almost home DF suggested we stop at Port Orleans for some beignets. I thought that sounded like a great idea! So we pulled into POFQ and got out of the car. DF went back for his jacket and told me to head on in. We chatted with the people around us in line and watched the Cast Members make our beignets then went outside to eat them.

DF then suggested we walk around the resort. I was a little chilly so we headed back to the car and drove to Port Orleans Riverside so I could grab my jacket out of the car.

When we got there we of course headed to the arcade to look around first. Then we headed out to the water and walked around for a bit. As we were walking we saw them bringing in the horse and carriage and after it passed us DF suggested we turn around and head back towards where we came from to go look at the fishin’ hole. I suggested we just keep walking and eventually we’d come back around to it. He won though and we turned around.

We came upon the horse and carriage and he decided to sit on a bench and relax. Then he said that he owed me a carriage ride (which he did, he promised me one on my birthday in 2006) and how about today although he didn’t have the champagne he had bought me back then to have on the ride. I said sure sounded good to me we could have the champagne when we got home. He went over the carriage, but somehow someone else was already in it. He came back over and we just sat there for a bit. Then another carriage pulled up with a really pretty grey and white horse. So we went over and talked to the carriage driver. He asked if we had a reservation as they tend to require them. I thought oh well, we wont get to go. Then DF said “ Check under last name ****” The guy had his name on the list! I was very confused. Had he called in from the car?

So we hop in and the driver lets our horse, Dutch, snack and have some water. The driver gives us some blankets and we head off through the resort.

Now I’m thinking that I’m probably getting my hopes up and am just going to be disappointed when he doesn’t propose. We travel through Port Orleans French Quarter and pass by the folks we were chatting with when we bought the beignets and we wave and say hello. Then as we are returning to Riverside Jeff says something about making good on his promise for a carriage ride and then says he is going to make good on another promise too. He then pulled out a ring box! He asked me to marry him and I said yes! I had him put the ring on me and then we cuddled up under the blanket until the end of the carriage ride.
We had the driver take our picture in the carriage and then I had my picture taken with Dutch.

Afterwords we decided what we wanted to do. I said I wanted to go to Magic Kingdom and visit our friends and wear ‘Just Engaged’ buttons. However my feet were killing me and I wanted to stop home and get a new pair of shoes. So we head to the car and DF jokes that we are going to go check into our hotel but then says yeah right we are leaving Port Orleans how could we check into a hotel?

So we drive off and he turns left instead of right towards home. I think hmm maybe we did decide to go to MK. Then he turns into Wilderness Lodge. I think maybe we are going to take the boat over to MK from here. So we head inside and I duck into the bathroom.

When I come out he escorts me over to check-in and gives his name. The lady looks us up and says that we are in a studio in the Villas! Total shock! It’s my favorite resort. So we head in to check out the room. It was gorgeous! We went to pick up the bag DF had packed for us in the car and then stopped in the gift shop to pick up the things he couldn’t pack without me noticing , like my toothbrush. Since dinner at Guthries hadn’t worked out we stopped at Roaring Forks Café in the lobby to get some sandwiches and went back to the room.

After we ate we checked that MK didn’t close until ten and I realized I had my cast holiday ticket so we could get some photo pass photos and then pick one to order online for free when we got home. So we headed to the boat dock and as we awaited the fireworks started. The show ended on our boat ride over.

Our first stop was the Guest Relations window where everyone went crazy because they all knew it was happening that night! We then went inside and got a few great pictures and did some shopping.

It was a fantastic night and as I crawled into bed at the Wilderness Lodge I thought about how I never could have imagined how the day would end when I gotten up that morning!

Thanks! DF got me a green Russian diopside ring for Christmas last year and an emerald necklace this year (he apparently bought the ring at the same time as the necklace and hid it from me this whole time!)

I think I just need to start trying on dresses and see how it goes. I guess you are right I probably wouldn't need accessories with a green dress. I don't have pierced ears anyway so that's one accessory that isn't even an option lol

Ugh! So I spent a lot of time this afternoon freaking out about booking the cruise. I want to wait until they release discounted cruises for cast members, but I also don't want to miss out on booking it and/or have the wedding slot taken by someone else. Anyway I have calmed myself down and will just wait and see.

In the interest of updates here are a few items;

Bridal Party

I wasn't sure if we were going to have a bridal party but I asked DF and he said of course his brothers were going to be in the wedding!
So here is or bridal party -

Maid of honor - Krystin, My best friend and former roommate. I've known her since 8th grade but only really got to know her on the CP in 2004 and beyond. She just moved back to VA to attend Grad School this past fall.

Matron of Honor - Erin, My other best friend whom I met on my CP. She lives in NY and I haven't asked her to be a bridesmaid yet but she has the time off and was already planning to come down to FL in October and is excited about the cruise. I was a bridesmaid in her wedding in July 2006

Groomsmen:

Chris - Jeff's younger brother who is in school at Auburn University
Rob - Jeff's older brother who lives in Alabama.

I also attended a bridal show on Sunday and I would love to share pics with you however I lost DFs camera in Disneyquest afterward and no one turned it in :-( I swear someone pick pocketed me at the Pirates ride. One minute I had it, the next it was nowhere to be found.

So now I owe DF a new camera. On the plus side we survived our frst fight as an engaged couple

That is so cool how you were like a celeb at the MK after you got engaged! I love it! Totally hooked on your PJ!
