My Night at the T-Rex... WOW!
I've been looking forward to my first trip to the new eatery at DTD for a long time. Tonight we went for dinner and I was absolutely blown away!
I've been to the Rain Forest restaurants several times both here and other cities, but this evening was a real treat far beyond my expectations! ![]() From the outside, you get the feeling that there might be an adventure inside... We got there at about 5:10 and went right in to our table. The interior is beautiful and there is so much to see! At about 6:00, things begin to come alive... ![]() A Tyrannosaurus greets you as you enter... better greets you than eats you! ![]() From a different angle- thats the ICE CAVE behind the Rex! Looked pretty cold! This is the best room to experience the Meteor Shower which is pretty neat... ![]() We were seated in the Fern Forest with plenty of Dinos all around us... Our view was into the beautiful Reef with gigantic jelly fish and a huge octopus... ![]() This guy had a Triceratops bellowing in his ear as he dined. Hope the Dino didn't have bad breath! Prices seemed quite reasonable on a Disney scale. After the first of the year, they will begin to accept ressies and also honor DVC and CM discounts. DW had the Mahi Mahi blackened Tacos ($16.99)and they were delicious! I had the Tar Pit Fried Shrimp ($19.99) which I consider the best on OR around property! The cole slaw was excellent and even the cocktail sauce for the shrimp seemed extra special! Search the net for the full menu... ![]() The ICE CAVE was beautiful, but things really changed when the meteor shower began... Even though we had been seated immediately, by the time we left, there was a long line outside waiting to be seated and many "expeditions" were being paged to be seated. Take my advice- Get there early! ![]() A nice Sauropod family... ![]() I think this is a carnivore... he had the steak! ![]() The Fire Pit was an inferno of roasting meats... ![]() You don't often get to see a real "FlyingLizard! ![]() The beautiful Ice Bar with a huge salt water aquarium, but no trilobites! The bar filled up by the time we left... ![]() Of course, no prehistoric diner would be complete without a gift shop! This one was unigue and very interesting! ![]() You can build your own plush Dino and then select a fashionable wardrobe to boot! The stuffed creatures are $20.00 each but DW thought they were very cute... ![]() Just outside is the "dig area" where the kids can brush away the sands of time to discover "real" fossils! I really wanted to try the BrontoBurger, but the shrimp sounded too good to pass up. I was not disappointed! Next time I want to try the ribs or the steak! I just hope one of the Dinos won't be begging for the table scraps! If you have kids, you are going to want to include a visit to T-Rex on your next trip. If you have no kids, you'll still enjoy the atmosphere, and of course the food! Either way, this is one place NOT TO BE MISSED! This is one of the best things on property since Expedition Everset and a very good way to spend an evening! "Dine, Discover and Explore..."... yeah, as advertised and a real adventure in eating without being EATEN! I give this new place my highest recommendation and I look forward to my next trip!!! |

Great review! Really would love to try this out on our upcoming trip, but I worry that my 6 year olds would find it scary. That ice room looks soooo cool!

I never gave this place a second thought until I read your review. I figured 3 adults and a 10 year old girl would have no interest in this place but WOW, it looks awesome!!

Is the menu basically the same as Rainforest Cafe just with different names or completely different?
We are headed to the world next month and are considering changing our plans from Rainforest to T-Rex. TIA MerryG

Great review! We wereat DTD last week, and there was always a huge crowd outside each time we walked by. Glad to see that the food is as good as the atmosphere.
