Well for the 4th, we are going over to DH's parents house and spending the weekend. Between his parents and his brother they spent almost $550 in fireworks, so we have a lot to set off. We are either grilling brisket or ribs, not sure yet. Tommorrow is our 14th wedding anniversary. We are just going to hang out at the house with the boys. I might make pork chops with mushrooms, but not sure yet.
HAPPY 14th ANNIVERSARY!

It's a weird feeling to not anywhere to go in between. We had a day between our selling and buying and it was scary. We laid awake all night wondering if something went wrong where would we live. I'm happy you can relax for a little while now. Good luck with the moving and unpacking!

Let us know if they faint or anything!!!

Just wanted to pop in and say "HI" to all the Snowbirds. I wish I was going again in January or another "slow". But as you can tell from my ticker...I'm going during Easter/Spring Break week. Not my ideal time...but at least it's a Disney trip.

Congrats on the new house Shelly.

I hope you Snowbirds don't mind but I'm going to be bugging you a lot from now on. No, I'm still not having a January trip (with baby coming, and all). I'm just very bored and missing Disney. Oh, and the fact that I'm stuck in my bed/couch for the next 20 weeks of my pregancy doesn't help.

So help a fellow, former Snowbird out . . . could you pass along some of your best Disney memories for me. I'm only into week one here and am losing it already. Any positve thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats Shelly!

Happy Anniversary letthewookiein!

Mindy - one of my favorite memories from Disney is when we took my kids and parents. It was both of their first times. Sarah was a month shy of 3 and Paige was 11 mos. My parents were - well a bit older! All four of them went around oohing and aahhing with their mouths open pointing at things! Paige was afraid of the characters - too big I think. My dad (the engineer) loved EPCOT. It was so much fun and that was before I got into DISing so I didn't know that much either! It was only my third time there. I was just so glad they could all share their first trip together.
Be sure to follow us to whatever thread Shelly sets up next (you know in her spare time!) so we can chat and keep you busy! Hope you're doing well and someone is getting you lots of books and movies for your bed rest. Do you knit or do crosswords or sudoku? I'd be calling people and driving them nuts.

Mindy, aaahhhh them memories of Disney Who can list them all? Ha!! I always just love watching my kiddies faces when the fireworks are going. Or when they watched Spectromagic!! I remember when I just had the boys, and they both fit in the big blue disney strollers...The younger one would fall asleep in it and the older one would put his arm around his head and kinda hold him up so his little head wouldnt fall!!!! Tooooo sweet!!!!
Do you like to read? I could pm you some awesome books. I am a reading fanatic....also, crosswords are fun.Do you have any Disney trivia books....I would be blowing my computer up with 'research'. For Disney, of course!! Do you like puzzles....we are puzzle lovers as well. The 1000 piece ones can take a bit of time if you work for a little while each day. Keep us posted!!!!!

Sheree~Thank you so much for your memories. I can picture your little ones (and not so little ones) as they are experiencing Disney for the first time.

Shawna~My son has only seen Spectro one time and that was as we exited the park. He loved it, though. So sweet of your older son to care so dearly for your younger. How cute!

I am doing my best to find things to keep me busy. I love to crochet, so I've been doing that the last few days. So far I've made an afghan for the baby and have started one for a friend. I love to read but have gone through my supply. I'd welcome any recommendations. I'll also be sending DH out for some puzzles. That's a great idea. DS4 has also been helping to entertain me. He loves to play Go Fish, War, Mancala, Chess and checkers. I'm so glad that he is patpatient and attentive enough to sit with me. I'm also getting pretty good at Guitar Hero LOL

Thanks again!! Daydreaming about Disney is a great way to pass the time!

We got Guitar Hero for Andy for Father's Day. I hate it when he plays because the music goes up too loud and he's on it when I think he should be doing other things, but I'll sometimes sneak in a song or two whenever no one is around!!

PS Follow us to the Jan. 2010 thread...most of us are there, plus some newbies!! Best of luck with the turkey!

Thanks everyone. I'm letting the DH sleep late and I have decided that I am not going to cook tonight. I was watching an Anthony Bourdain earlier and have decided to order pizza from a local pizza place owned by a family that moved here from Chicago.

Mindy, I can't imagine being on bed rest that long. I was in the hospital for a week before I had my first son and I thought I was going to go nuts. I don't know if your into gaming at all, but there is the Sims 3 game that looks amazing.

As far as Disney memories go there are so many to pick from. One of my top three I have pictures of. Both of my boys favorite character is Stitch. On our first trip, we were in line for something and they set up a Lilo & Stitch meet and greet. When it got to be out turn my oldest DS walked right up to them. My youngest DS drop to all fours and just sat there starring at them. Stitch crawled over to my DS and then they crawled back to Lilo and my oldest DS together.

I have some silly ones, mostly. The first time we ate at the now-Cinderella's Royal Table (er, whatever it's called), the prince came up and took my hand (I was 8), and kissed the back of it. I was all sorts of embarassed. Anyway, my mom said jokingly, "I bet she never washes that hand again!" Oh, man, that lasted... 2 hours, MAYBE, before I forgot what hand it was! Way to go, self!!

Another time, in Epcot, I was leaning over a bridge (in that no man's land between the World Showcase and the other side) and WHOOSH big huge breeze and off went my (mickey mouse) hat RIGHT in to the pond. You ain't never seen nothin' until a half dozen employees turned up AND a bunch of ducks to entertain the people passing by, while one person retrieved my hat for me. The ducks were, of course, the most entertaining. (I was 12 at this trip) My whole family was pretty convinced that all the wildlife was on payroll....

...especially since we had a bunny outside our trailer (Fort Wilderness, one of the mobile homes they had) EVERY morning. He'd just sit there long enough to be seen by all of us, and then hop on off.

Or how about when I was 16 and it was Typhoon Lagoon Day. Well, my brother and dad went one way, to get towels and stuff, and my mom and I went another to snag four chairs. We grabbed our chairs. A mother and her son grabbed the four chairs next to us. Soon, her husband and other son returned. Then my brother and dad returned.... only to have the husband say "Don?" to my dad. Turns out the older boy and my brother were in the same Scout troop!

I was 24 before I got to go again. This time, I was married and I took my then-Disney-virgin husband on the family trip (my mom had sworn many years ago that as soon as my grandfather's house was sold, of which a portion of the profits were her's, that she was taking the family to Disney World... I got married before the house sold, but my dad says within a half an hour of the closing, my mom turned to him and said "book the trip! I don't care about the expense!"). He was a bit grumbly, because he couldn't figure out WHY he'd want to go. So we took him to the Magic Kingdom, first, which he thought was nice and all. Then we took him to Epcot. I think we spent three days of that trip there - he absolutely adored it.

His funniest memory of that trip, though, is my brother's ex-girlfriend. My bro and I went on Tower of Terror and Rock'n'Roller Coaster, and neither the husband nor the ex-GF would go... but, anyway. Three of us (excluding DH!) had popcorn before we split up. Ex-GF hadn't finished her but she went with DH, who wanted ice cream. She decided she wanted ice cream, too, and ended up with a box of popcorn in one hand, an ice cream cone in the other, completely befuddled as to what to do next. We still laugh at that one.

Hmm. Age 28 - we stayed off-site that trip. We still managed to get to every park to see the opening. I don't think I'd ever seen that before and it was SO much fun! To see the train pull in at Main Street, to see the song and dance routine at AK... and then having our safari have to wait as various animals cross our paths. That was just so amazing. The weather was great, too, until the last day, but that was okay because we'd booked a Keys to the Kingdom tour and then bought The Worlds Largest Rice Krispie Treat, which was so big, we had to have it as a carry-on.

Age 30 - went with my best friend and it was her first trip in 25 years (can you imagine?!). We rode Pirates and HM three times in one night because she was SO taken with the rides. It was a total commando tour of the parks but it was SO fun. She's definitely an Eeyore sort of personality and didn't get in to the goofiness that being at Disney can cause... but by the time we were home, she was planning our next trip. (I forced the issue a bit and it's this september!)

Age 32 - watching my husband cross the finish line of the marathon, 17 minutes faster than his previous attempt. Seventeen! I can't even imagine!! The other fun was being on the TTA when it broke and we had to be evacuated off the ride. It's the TTA. We weren't in a hurry to go anywhere, which was why we were on it, so we remained amused as they led us off, one car at a time.

Age 32 - this fall - who knows?! Memories yet to be made!!!

Sorry you're stuck on bedrest. I was on it the last month of my first pregnancy and it was the longest month of my life so I feel for you.

How sweet- I love when the characters really get into it and interact with everyone!

I shared this over on the budget board but had to share it with my Snowbird buddies too

I have off this week and snuck over to the outlets in Lancaster PA and scored BIG!!!! I got a big jump on the Christmas shopping for my kids. (Is it too early to start a Christmas shopping thread yet Shelly!)

Kid's T shirts were $2.99 each, long sleeve pj's were $5.99 plus an additional 40% off, toys on clearance plus an additional 40%. I scored a Toy Story hoodie for $4.99 plus 40% off for my son.

When all was said and done I spent $96 and got:
10 t shirts for the kiddos
2 Buzz Lightyear Laser toys
1 Toy Story sweatshirt
6 pairs of pj's
a Playhouse Disney Minnie toy vacuum
a Playhouse Disney toy cash register
2 oversized coloring books with crayons
a mug for myself.
and a partridge in a pear tree.

I took pics of all of it but I'm thinking of doing a PTR as it gets closer and I'll wait to post them in there.
