This is so true! I really need to write more, but I have 2 games to get ready for an all weekend gaming/ baby shower for next week! So I am getting some of that creativity out of my system with that!

PKB, GenCon sounds like so much fun! It's really cool that they have trilogies and stuff that continue year to year. Sorry you'll miss the last one, but of course it's for a good cause!

Sorry also to hear about the dinner crashers, but it sounds like you took it in stride and didn't let them ruin your evening.

Thanks, it is really fun, and it is a good cause. We are really good friends with them so they are talking about comming up to the wedding. He said that if they come up, he would run it the night before the wedding.

I am excited about writing about the All girls school girls visit a cursed Pyramid game! Maybe today...

Yes, I feel it's just never the same. Honestly if I died in the middle of a series I'm not sure I'd want someone else continuing it "for" me. Maybe if I got to hand-pick the person beforehand.

I know he was sick for a long time beforehand, my hope is that he did hand pick the person just in case....

I wish DFFIL will not allow gaming at the rehersal dinner... To quote him, "The only good thing that came out of that game is my son's happiness and my FDIL."

My BF and his friend got me into the first one.
Want to know how many more I've read, other than the first?

Got half way through the second book, got distracted, the rest is history.
However, they remind me enough of the LOTR series without being a rip-off that I want to give them a second chance. Maybe I'll grab the first one as my plane-read that way I can start on the rest when we're unpacked and in the new place.

Min was one of my favorite characters up to the point when I stopped reading. Rand is kind of whiny. And if somehow the survival of the world came down to which WOT character I felt I could be compatible enough with to procreate, I'd choose Perrin.

Then again, I do have a thing for broad shoulders and arms...

I got started on the series back when I was in early HS and therefore had summers off and lots and lots of time to read. They are massive books!

If you only read half of the second one, you haven't "met" Perrin's wife yet. Faile. She's one of my favorite characters, and I love their interplay.

'Course, later on in the series when Mat gets (or at least it's hinted that he'll get) together with the Daughter of Nine Moons (I think that's her title; can't remember her real name) that gets more interesting, as well.

I did like reading the series for all the Arthurian parallels though--made me think I need to go back and reread Le Morte d'Arthur again.

And you've got me thinking I should reread the early books, at least. Before the series got boring. Then maybe skip over the boring ones to read the one I've missed.

Anyway, yes, I like Min quite a bit.

Whew! Finally got caught up with your report. It sounds like the convention was alot of fun. I used to play D&D with my cousins, but it's been ages and ages. Always was alot of fun playing with them.

I actually started playing after my grandpa passed away, just to get out of the house, and I am still playing!

So we get up on Saturday and I grab breakfast and head off to the dealer hall where I am doing boothduty with one of my bridesmaids. It was our job to man a message board booth and answer questions about the Ennies and the board. Something about a female brings men over to the booth, and we got visited a bit. Actually seeing as we weren't selling anything, we did a great job.

Once we were done, that same bridesmaid and I went shopping and grabbed lunch at the resturant across the street and then we went back and shopped for a bit. I bought some more books and my bridesmaid a copy of "Where the Deep Ones Are" and a stuffed animal for her incoming nugget. (They had been trying for a while and she ended up pregnant via IVF. We had her shower this past weekend in NY)

After we were both tired and smelled like gamer funk.... so we went back to the hotel and crashed in our rooms for a bit. DF was running a game but I went into the bedroom and closed the door and settled in with a book.

I went down to the lobby to wait for the bridesmaid, who was in my evening game, and I saw a great group of friends reciting Shakespeare. I couldn't stay, but my bridesmaid did. I went to grab some food and stood in a 1/2 hour line (ugh, McDonalds!) and then I grabbed us ladies a table for our game.

This is a game that I was really looking forward too. It was all Ladies, and we played Finishing School Graduates in 1920's Egypt. We get lured into a pyramid and we have to find a way to escape.... some of us turned into zombies. But I got out unscathed. I did manage to burn off the head of the Zombie Master. It was fun, and once I get home, hopefully I will get all the pictures up or put a link up to the gallery.


Next: The last days!!!! Will my last game go as good as the first? Will we have a great farewell dinner? Will it be so hard to say goodbye? How will the Flight home go? What will we come home to kitty wise?

*sigh* This is always sad...I can't even imagine how I am going to write the end of my TR.

Here goes.

Sunday, we woke up and DF went and grabbed us breakfast, while I set up for my game in the room. It was a bunch of new friends and DF playing the same game I ran on that Thursday with the elderly superheroes. It was a blast and every one had a great time. :D We had room service during the game.

Then we had the first sad occurrance.... I said goodbye to two friends that we won't see for 2 years. At least we get to chat online.

We all headed off to the dealers hall and stayed there til it closed and every one cheered at another successful GenCon over.

But we had one more thing on our schedule.... the farewell dinner at the Rockbottom Brewery. There were about 50 of us and it was a giant laugh fest. We hung out with our friends DG and TU talking about the weekend.

After we got some great group shots, and a group, including DF went to see the Star Wars Clone Wars movie. Another group, me included, went back to the hotel and played games until I was so tired I was crawling to our suite and crawled into bed and fell asleep.

Monday Morning we slept in and skipped the breakfast. We packed our stuff and brought it down to bag check and met our friends (including Bridesmaid and her husband) to grab lunch. mmmm Johnny Rockets.

Then it was time to say goodbye.... We all took a bus to the airport together and said our goodbyes at the gate. I was crying going through security, but knew we would see some of our friends for our wedding and some at various game weekends over the next couple of years.

We got on our plane and arrived safely back in Boston. When we got home, I went to check my e-mail and I discovered that MinMin had caught her first mouse and left it lying across the cord.

We cleaned it up and went to bed..... We missed our friends, but we were happy to be home with less than 2 months left til Disney.
