i dont mind the food at rainforest..... but for me t-rex is just too similar to rainforest and I fear a starwars by Landry's would again be similar.

This is the first I've heard any rumor of a Star Wars restaurant, at least at PI/DTD.
If they did this, I'd expect it to replace Sci-Fi Dine In, or be part of the so-called "Star Wars Land" expansion. I don't recall if it was rumor or wishful thinking that would replace the Backlot Express with the Mos Eisley Cantina. Star Wars would be a rather expensive license for Landry's just to open up a restaurant. But there was a guy pitching some concept restaurants using generic concepts, like wizards (obviously to capitalize on Harry Potter), etc. and he may have had a space-themed one as well.

This is the first mention of a Star Wars themed restaurant for PI. Can't rule anything out but this is the first I've heard of it.

I sent in a question asking about nightime entertainemnt specifically mentionaing Rock n Roll beach club, AC, and CW. They sent me a response that there was no plans to reopen or relocate the clubs on PI.
They also mentioned all of the unique and exciting shopping and restaurant options there are such as T-rex, Hanes T shirts and a couple others. I responded with I can make my own T shirt on line or at the mall plus T-rex is the same as Rainforest Cafe which I also have at a local mall. Asked them to explain was unique and exciting about stuff I can do online or at the mall. I miss RNR beach club as much as AC and cw. |

Keep firing back though. They keep coming up with these B.S. responses. Someone who desires a live band in a dance club environment with no kids is not going to be satisfied with a kid filled, loud, obnoxious, over priced generic restaurant with 1980s animatronics or a tshirt store and tethered baloon ride. "hi welcome to DTD, how can I help you?" - "I wanna get away from all these damn strollers, have some drinks and dance a bit, maybe play pool and listen to a live band then go have some laughs at a comedy show or something" "well we don't have any of that, but here, let me direct you to our generic restaurant full of strollers, an obnoxious meteor shower every 15 minutes, and animatronics that Chuck E Cheese can put to shame" "If that doesn't suit you, you can get the same naseus feeling you get from drinking by taking a ride in our tethered baloon!" "you mentioned live bands, so why don't you go sit in our uncomfortable, outdoor, non air conditioned "ultra lounge" and listen to our acts who try to pull attention away from the empty buildings" "now for dancing, head on over to Atlantic Dance hall, where our perpetual wedding and very large, yet always empty club will fill your every desire." "comedy, now THAT's a tough one. Well have you looked at our PR history with the closing of PI? That bold new vision usually gets a few good laughs. Why don't you head over to the competition and laugh at people who think they have singing talent?" - "oh that sounds like EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks guest relations person!" Yeah...that really works. They are such idiots.

Here is the original communication I had with them.
Dear Mr. XXXXXX, Thank you for contacting us regarding the Walt Disney World® Resort. We truly appreciate your loyalty and enthusiasm for our Resort and understand your disappointment with the closing of the clubs on Pleasure Island, and with some of the changes implemented in Main St., USA in the Magic Kingdom® Park. At this time, there are currently no plans to reopen or relocate this venue. Taking the Downtown Disney® Area experience to the next level is consistent with our commitment to provide our Guests with new, exciting and one-of-a-kind experiences. Several new attractions, shopping and restaurant facilities have opened since Pleasure Island has closed such as the T-Rex Restaurant, TrenD store, Hanes Design a Tee store and Characters in Flight, a giant tethered balloon experience. We hope you will have the opportunity to enjoy them on your visit. Guest Feedback is very important to us. We believe feedback allows us to identify what we are doing right, and what we can do better. Therefore, please know our entire Executive Team values your comments regarding the Downtown Disney® Area and appreciates hearing from concerned Guests like you. Mr. XXXXXXX, we genuinely appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts with us. Sincerely, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Guest Services Walt Disney World® Resort 407-XXX-XXXX Original Message Follows: ------------------------ Is there going to be anything to replace Pleasure Island. I was particularly interested in Rock N Roll Beach club, Adventurers Club and the Comedy warehouse. Since these have closed I was very reluctant to plan a long Vacation at Walt Disney World. Last year I went for about a week with my extended Family and without Pleasure Island it was not as much fun. Without anykind of nighttime entertainment (1 venue with Dueling Pianos does not count) I am finding it hard to plan a return trip. My brother and I used to go to Disney quest then PI every night. BUt had to stop that when you got rid of length of stay passes, so we used all of pur waterpark and more points at Pleasure Island. Now we don't even have that. I also noticed that there were no more unique souviniers. All the stores from the hotels to the them parks had the same exact stuff. I used to buy a watch(prefibly a pocket watch) each trip. In a lapse of aabout 2 years between trips all the watches were still the same. I bought nothing. Evene main St. USA has become a rethemed world of disney Store. Please Bring back some uniqueness and make me want to return. I have been probably 25 times and I am only 35. I went many times starting from when I was 17, that was on my own dime. It just seems like everything has become very homogenised there latlely XXXXXXXXXXXXXX US Last edited by OldsDr; 06-19-2011 at 01:12 PM. Reason: remove initials |

And the thank you now stop bothering us reply to my response
I just wish I had not rushed and had proper spelling.
Dear Mr. XXXXXXX, Thank you for most recent email about the Walt Disney World® Resort. I am very sorry to hear of your continued disappointment with the various new venues which can be found our Resort. I wanted to personally assure you that your feedback has been taken seriously and let you know how much we appreciate the time you took to share your comments. Our Guests? feedback allows for our continual growth and the preservation of the magic Walt Disney dreamed about. Mr. XXXXXXX, thank you again for your feedback. Best Regards, XXXXXX XXXXXX Guest Services Walt Disney World Resort Original Message Follows: ----------------------- How is WDW offering one of a kind experiences. T-rex is Identicle to RainForest Cafe. I have a Rainforest Cafe in a local mall. Everything available at World of Disney/Main St. USA (I group them together now) Is available online. Selling "disney parks" merchandise. I have not been there but I am sure those Idfenticle items are available at every Disney park, hence the name. I can also make my own T-shirt at the mall and online. Plus how can you say shopping and dining is a new and exciting experience it's done all over the world. Going somewhere to listen to music, dance, or have a laugh is entertainment, the reason I go on vaction is to be entertained. Shopping and eating are activities one of which I do several times a day nmo matter where I am. Everything there is available at another location, so how do you claim it is one of a kind? The new pleasuer Island I thought was upposed to be open 2 years after the fun stuff closed. where is the rest? I know things have to change sometimes to keep people interested and coming back. BUt all Pleasure Island need was a shot in the arm and some enteratinment similar to how it was when it first opened. It did not need to be cut off like a bad limb. WDW is very lacking as complete vacation destination now. Thank you XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXX CT, 06XXX |

Some of my fondest memories are of "partying" at DTD back in the 90's. The jumbo screen showing music videos, ladies in Nurse's outfits selling shots on the street! 8Traxx, Manequinns, fireworks, adult oriented things. I wish they'd at least bring back those two. Certainly they could card at the door. Some place to party late night.
