![]() It wasn't about the drunks. It was about the outsourcing. They'll put clubs back in if someone else operates them. They'll just stop marketing the area as a nightclub joint. (Wait, they stopped doing that several years ago)

In my new dictionary, it says next to the word 'Feeble; adj. see Disney's Celebrate Tonight event.' |

Doesn't sound to me like they are interested in the money aspect, because they just turned down 10k in revenue for a very small overall operating cost of one night. in my dictionary, next to the word arrogant, the definition is Disney Management

BTW, latest development...
Seven of the black iron tables from the Food & Wine Festival have been moved into a semicircle around the new DJ booth. I guess in an attempt to drive bar sales. Didn't see them get much use last night. |

Hello everyone on a chilly, rainy night here in Toronto.
Concerning my venture to rent Soundstage monthly, I was willing to limit sales to the internet and not at the door, if that's what they had wanted. There indeed were some concerns on Disney's end that sales at the door would give the impression that the club had reopened. However, Mr. Jacobson never gave me that option because that was not the reason. I asked whether I needed to switch to non-profit status in order to be similar to the Adventurers Club reunion night they approved for September. I also pointed out that Motion was recently rented for some kind of song/dance off-broadway kind of show and they DID sell tickets at the door. I also pointed out World Vibe Orando which is selling advance for a DJ event at Typhoon Lagoon, through Disney Catering. All those were approved; mine was not. Sources tell me that Disney is pissed-off with my SAVE PLEASURE ISLAND blog which has reported rumors they don't want reported. That, my Disboards friends, is why my venture was turned down. Jason71, I appreciate you checking around like you did. But I think you only got part of the story. The Blog is the other part. BobK/Toronto |

Oh, that makes perfect sense.. Let's close down the best club around, but let's leave the bar open outside. Get real Disney! Do they really think that we will go buy a drink at the bar when there is nothing else there for us? Besides, with Disney closing down the bus drop off point and the rest of the clubs, who is going to go there just to have a drink right now?[/QUOTE]What, no bus stop? How will those that are drunk-on-their-*** get back to their room?

OK, Jesus rode an *** into the city to speak to the people. Hmm, guess I'm not getting that word in edge-wise, am I? Even with a religious conotation. OK, I give up.........

Well, my wife and I were there last weekend and we sat through a presentation of the Celebration thingy and we both agreed it was lame-o. I was so hoping they would come over and put a mic in my face because I wanted to mention that they should reopen the AC. It's just a weird vibe in that area because they are trying to get some excitement going in an area that is just DEAD. Everything is closed around you, but they are hoopin and hollerin.
If you want a pleasant surprise, check out Nuova Era that plays just outside Pleasure Island (in front of Hagen Daze). The three person group that plays a classical/modern fuse of music is fantastic. There were more people there for them than the celebration thingy.

One of my Blog readers e-mailed me with a rumor that the Mannequins dance floor has been removed and sold to a club up north for $2M. I replied that I'm quite skeptical since I had been previously told that the floor was next to impossible to remove without tearing down the building. And that's not happened. Plus my spotters on the island have not seen any activity at Mannequins and there is no way it could be snuck out in one night. And the price is well-beyond what it would cost to build a new one. But I'm reporting the rumor since this is the Rumors board!

I had two different people e-mail me this week to tell me that the Mannequins revolving dance floor has been removed and sold to someone. I'm a little skeptical about it because supposedly you'd pretty much have to tear down the building to get to the dance floor and the building is still standing. Anyone hear anything?
