My Unconventianal Trip Report.....
You go to DVC and see one thing - I see something totally different:
I am not sure why WDW spends so much money on the fairways on their golf courses: 9 out of 10 golfers were within 20 feet from our deck. I could have subsidised our vacation by selling: Beer, Soda's and maps to the green! I lost 5 pounds in six days! That is what 4 days of walking the parks do to you! We have been home for 4 hours and I am going through violent withdrawal symptoms! Going cold turkey after watching the Top Seven Must Sees at WDW 417 times is never easy! The view from the Pool back up to the Main Lodge at WL is the coolest at WDW. They had a TON of cops out slowing people down. One night, driving back from WLV it appeared they had a sobriety check point! The two lane went to one lane and every one was stopping and saying hi to the police.::cop: OKW has one really grumpy guard! Grumpy is harsh - just serious! He hawks that parking thing with mean intent. No problems - keeping DVC safe for all of us! I have almost memorized the ENTIRE Spanish version of the Monorail dialogue. "Por Favor, y mantanga se las hados de los puertos!" We were hanging around GF and saw the wonderful Carriage they use for the weddings! My daughter sighed and said she wanted to be married at WDW. I reminded her that: 1) Her future husband may be scared of Mice, 2) the local VFW Lodge is wonderful when the Azalea's are in full bloom and 3) my '99 Saab has a fully functioning moon roof! The WDW Internet is a pain! You have to sign in even if idle just a few minutes. I guess nothing is really free! I got bored and stopped after counting 386 of the 999 happy haunts. Life provides no greater pleasure then hearing that long beep when rocketing through a Sun Pass toll line at 75 MPH! Orlando is Dry to the BONE! We ALL need to pray for rain (when it is someone else's vacation week). We go to the Rainforest Cafe EVERY year because my Mother in Law loves it! The last 4 years she reminded us of this fact and we of course made a ressie. She did not make the request this year - but - we made the plans for our yearly pilgrimage. Mid dinner my Mother In Law blurts out: "Not sure why we always end up here when we come?" Speaking of Rainforest, we all laughed at this dude who was within 2 feet of the elephant every time it went off! First two times he almost fell out of his chair! As time went along he just kept getting more and more disgusted! All 9 of us were just in tears! I sometimes wonder if Walt built WDW for Ducks as they outnumber humans 4 to 1. I will be spending next weekend building my own personal Soaring ride in the basement. Last year, through extremely close observation, I discovered that President Taft had somewhere else he wanted to be! I went back to Hall of Presidents 6 additional times this year. I am proud to confirm a new discovery: Millard Fillmore is talking to his neighbors and blatently mocking Buchanan through the entire presentation! Was able to take my SIL, BIL and the cutest Niece in the world! BIL has had 4 stomach op's over the last 2 years - their budget is tight! We sprung for airfare (frequent flier tix) 3 day passes and the room of course. My niece is 5 and she had such a great time - makes you feel good! Love my DVC! What is slower: Heinz 57 or WDW Shampoo? An experiment that WILL be conducted next year! Wow, that new DVC thingy next to Contemporary is gonna be a big un! I thought long and hard about attaching a $20 to a string to lure a guy out of one of the rocking chairs on Tom Sawyer Island. Bad dad moment: Daughter was captaining her first Sea Ray and the moter cut out. I reached behind and gave the outboard motor one HUGE tug and whacked her in the head with my elbow! Physics Experiment: The Sea Ray travels 68.9% faster once a 210 pound father exits the boat and let's the daughter take a spin on her own! Over 10 years ago I worked with a company who was on a software contract at WDW. Over a 9 month period I was down there over 20 times. On one of the trips I was talking to one (fairly) high ranking CM over beers ---- I was telling him: "You know, time was the 'customer facing' WDW staff was the finest in the world - could not be topped! Now, it is south of average....". And, he agreed! He told me that the growth was killing them. Orlando is an entire city built on Min Wage jobs! And, the growth at WDW and the entire city was making the hunt for true WDW workers impossible! This trip I was AMAZED at the number of foriegn CM's! I must have dealt with 30 Chinese nationals. Brazillians were also there in full force. WDW has obviously found a remedy to their problems. These CM's were polite, hard working and willing to milk the experience. And, they will go back and share their experiences and open doors in new markets. They also bring the potential for new guests and DVC members in the years to come. I never did enjoy my time working with the Mouse. But, you will never here me say they are stupid! Last edited by bom_noite; 06-06-2008 at 09:55 PM. |

We are leaving tomorrow and I can't agree with you more about your observations. FYI SOARIN is my FAV so let me know when you get yours done. I love your comment about your daughters wedding - my wife even laughed. And who needs to go to Animal Kingdom when my kids (mind you very young) get more excited about seeing the ducks, rabbits and squirrels then the Rhino, Hippos and Lions

We've only been here at OKW since 10:45AM this morning, but both security guards at the entrance waved us through with a "Welcome Home". Maybe we haven't seen Mr Grumpy yet.
